Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Glad it is finally here!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The next generation of gaming systems is here in the PS4. So far I am happy with the system. It has taken a bit of getting used to the new Dualshock 4 controller, but I do like it a lot. I didn't have as much of a problem with the Dualshock 3 as many of the gaming pundits did, but the new controller is certainly superior. It has a solid weight to it and is spread futher out. I was disappointed that some of the launch day game titles were delayed, most specifically Watch Dogs. I actually considered cancelling my pre-order when I found out that it was being pushed back until 2nd Q of 2014. But I stuck with it and am glad I did. So far I have enjoyed playing Battlefield 4 and Madden 25. The user interface is also much improved over the PS3 interface. I am happy with this purchase to date and only expect my this enthusiasm to grow as developers hone in on the power of this gaming system. If you are enjoying your PS3, you certainly won't be disappointed with the purchase of a PS4.

Anticipating the release... was not disappointed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went to be at bestbuy for the midnight launch. I was planning on waiting to go on my lunch break on the 15th but I was too excited and ended up going to the midnight launch. It took me a couple of hours to download games. Probably because there were over a million ps4 users trying to download atnthw same time. Couple of psn issues the first day and a half BBB it since that it has been smooth. They also throw in a month free of plus. 10 psn card. The system is quiet. You can download the game!e while you play it. The web browser is quick. The variety of games is cool. The graphics are amazing.

Great console with a lot of potential.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off, while the console does not require a mandatory online connection, it really benefits from one. It's a gaming console at heart, and it plays games wonderfully. The selection of games at the moment is limited and for launch titles, the graphics and performance are a great start. My biggest praise for the PS4 is how efficiently it works. At best it's only gotten slightly warm after a very long night of gaming, and the internal fan kicked in ONCE when I stood my console up on its side. I've noticed that there are a lot of air vents on the sides, so standing a PS4 up is probably not a great idea. The official PS4 stand might change that but seeing as I don't have one, I can't comment on its efficiency at this time. The most obvious flaws (for me) are with some of the choices that were made in designing the UI. To clarify, I did mention that it functions smoothly and that's still the case. My problems are mainly with the organization of the "Recently Used" bar and the "Library" tab. Even though the console has only been out for a week and the selection of games is limited, the Recently Used list keeps getting longer and longer. There are certain items pinned there (such as Video/Music Unlimited, Web Browser, Playroom, and Library) that I feel could be placed elsewhere. As far as the Library tab goes, there is no way to organize the contents, and there's no way to remove contents you've already deleted off your console. My only other complaints are only related to the games (crashing in BF4 and minor visual glitches in NFS:R) but those are not problems with the console itself, so they shouldn't be taken into account. Other than what I've mentioned above, I love the PS4. I've had a fantastic week with it and that joy is only bound to increase as more and more games get released for the officially CURRENT generation.

Faster than PS3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is quite a difference in the speed of loading games and the graphics card performance from the PS3. Although the ps4 games are more expensive, the gameplay has improved. Unfortunate that Sony didn't offer a ps4 that can play PS3 games as well.

Worth the adventure and the money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I drove 45 minutes from one store then another 45 minutes for the next one. 30 minutes the day before that and come to find out, the best buy of my home town had it... I am loving it though. Although there are not many games out for it yet, the ones available will entertain you and impress you enough until the new ones come out, which is right around the corner figuratively speaking. The controller is very comfortable and the home screen is similar to it's predecessor. The difference in the graphics is noticeable and everything runs smooth and fast. Worth the adventure and the money

better than the Xbox One
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having a week end with both, I can say the PS4 is better than the Xbox One for several reasons. First, it's $100 cheaper. Second, it doesn't require an external power brick, which takes up extra space. Third, it has a smaller footprint. Fourth, it loads games much faster when installing from disc. Fifth, better graphics. Sixth, it don't require PS Plus just to stream Netflix or Hulu. Seventh, if you do pay for PS Plus, you get better/more free games. Eighth, second screen/remote play functionality with the PS Vita. Finally, the controller comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, but you have to pay another $25 to get that functionality for your Xbox controller. There's only two arguments I can see for the Xbox: First, it provides those rear USB ports so I can charge both controllers without having cords sticking out of the front of my consoles. Second, if for some reason you want to funnel your cable box output through the console, it has that functionality.

Great Gaming System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well worth the wait. I pre-ordered my PS4 back on June 13th. Installation and set-up was very easy. Wireless connection worked on the first try. The system update downloaded without a hitch. This may or may not be hard to find as we get closer to Christmas, but by getting one on day one, I don't have to worry about that now. To be honest, the real power and value of this system won't be seen for months maybe years. Launch games are more or less equal with an exclusive here and there. Most multi platform games like NBA2K14 and Madden 25 only have minor graphics updates. So, while I think they are good, it might not be worth it for someone to spend $500 or $600 when it is all said and done (system, extra controller, charger, camera, and games for $59.99 each) for just a marginal eye-candy graphic improvement. If you have the disposable income, then don't wait. If your funds are al little tight, and you already have a PS3, stick with your PS3 for another year.

This console is Next-Gen!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to the midnight launch and picked up my ps4 that had been pre ordered for months. I came home and hooked it up. The first game I played was Killzone: Shadow Fall and the graphics blew me away! Everything was so detailed! The new user interface on the ps4 is simple and sleek. It will take some time to get used to it but I enjoy it. As far as the launch titles go neither Sony or Microsoft had large selections. We will see what heavy hitters will come out next year. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and believe that the Playstation 4 has the most bang for your buck!!

Love it so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love the PS4 so far. More games for any console is a must everyone's tastes are different to some extent. It runs smooth and the seamless transition between game and the new Ps4 layout is nice search the web or ps store while playing a game is nice. Cross party chat works fine. even though a mini cheap headset is included in the purchase rarely does anyone use it. which is fine since i don't wanna have to listen to complainers majority of the multiplayer game i'm in. So yeah for 400$ it's a win. Not saying if u could find a cheaper legit ps4 not to go for it though.

It rocks!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my 20yr old son for Christmas as his first PS console. He loves it! He says it is very easy to set up, as opposed to his XBox360. Apparently, the PS4 just has 1 or 2 cables needed to connect it to the TV. He is very happy w it so far.

The future of gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Due to the nature of the so-called 'console wars', you'll find a lot of bad information on both of the new next gen consoles. So keep that in mind as you read reviews. I've been very pleased with the PS4 so far. It boots up quick, and game installs start to happen as soon as you put a game into the disc slot (rather than having to start the game). You can do other things while a disc-based game installs, which is great. The slow install and download speeds that were the bane of the PS3 are gone in this new system. Patches download very quick (especially considering the size of them, but that is the new reality of console games, courtesy of the enormous amounts of data that Blu-ray discs provide) and it all happens automatically. Graphics-wise, don't expect to be absolutely floored. We are just starting a new generation, and many available games, no matter what console you try, are going to be multi-platform ports. And this early on, even first party games won't be taking full advantage of the systems capabilities. Still, what's there is impressive, though in some cases you might need side-by-side comparisons to see the next-gen differences. Battery life on the controller is pretty good, I've not run into a low battery signal yet, despite many hours of Assassin's Creed IV. I like the standby mode for the console, which meshes well with the Remote Play function of the PS Vita (if you have one). Remote Play is as great as you could hope it would be, and you can tell developers are serious about it when you are presented with a special Vita control scheme when running games via RP. It does not have DLNA support, which is not something a lot of people use, but those that did use it will be disappointed. Rumor has it that it will be patched in later however. As for other media, I somehow get MUCH better quality on Netflix and Amazon Video than I did on my Xbox 360. The apps fire up a LOT faster, start streaming much faster, and I get HD quality streams nearly all the time. This was not the case with the 360, which was wired into the same network as the PS4. It also comes with a free month of PS+, which in turn nets you two free games from PSN (as long as you have an active PS+ membership). I already had PS+, and was surprised at how quick the online store fired up. The fact that the PS4 will keep it running as a background app helps, allowing you to go back to it instantly if you want. Overall, I am pleased with the system. I'm looking forward to some great experiences as more games get released.

Great Video Game System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is hands down the best system Sony has made to date. It's very quite and sleek looking. the games download much quicker than on PS3. Their online is much improved as is the OS. The Dual shock 4 is now my favorite controller even over the 360. They finally got that right. I have had no problem with the hardware what so ever. I can't wait for the second generation of PS4 games to come out so I can see what this machine can really do. The only complaint is a very weak launch lineup of games. Most of the good games for this system are available on PS3 and 360. They look better than on those systems but not enough that your going to be blown away. I do like that they gave you 30 days of PSplus and $10 for the PS store in the box as well.

Bigger on the inside
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't let the size fool ya,It’s a not blue or boxy, the PS4 has a sleek look and more uniformed size lets this unit fit into your shelves or cabinet (you know some people need things to look nice) it is so quiet it can be used to watch movies without hearing the fan rev up to jet plane levels. PS4 is not trying to be your end all be all media hub (every TV, TiVo and Blue ray player I have do that) it just plays games. That’s what I want my game console to do! The new controller is fantastic and as more games take advantage of the new features it’s going to be freaky!

Wow! This system has been great to me!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is a great addition to my entertainment room! One thing that I just love about the PS4 is that I can finally use my Music Unlimited subscription while playing my favorite games. The VITA has this feature but you had to have an "offline" playing so that it would work. With the PS4 I can stream my favorite channel while playing online without any lag (I have a good Internet connection so I guess that's why). Another cool feature is the option to watch LIVE game feeds from other gamers. Here you can preview a game that you might want to buy and by the end of the day I'm sure a decision will be made. You can keep track of your friends activity and see what they have been doing. The Playstation store runs like a dream on the PS4. Another neat feature is that you can charge your controllers while your system is in Standby Mode. Remote Play via the VITA was never this good on PS3. There are a couple of bumps here and there but they are nothing to cry about. Overall the game play is very responsive (again, according to my Internet connection). Killzone and Battlefield 4 are visually stunning games! And they are fun too! Overall I'm very happy with my PS4 and I'm looking forward to see what kind of games the future will bring. Another thing, get Playstation PLUS, you won'tregret it. I will be starting my 4th year this December! So yeah, I'm a happy camper.

Good but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Ps4 back in January, weren't many games for it. 4 months later it started spitting out discs for no reason and gave an error code. Looked into it, Sony said there was a bug in the first batch of Ps4's, warranty was valid but traded it in back to Best Buy and bought the Xbox One. When it comes to comparing the consoles it really has to do with what your preferences are. Sony really stepped up to the plate when it came to graphics. The controller (dual shock 4) is comfortable and has nice improvements but dies within 8 hours of use, which would't be a problem if the cord wasn't only 2' long. No one can say which console is best or which one you should buy, you have to try them your self and see which games you prefer.

Sick little machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I know some folks got lemons (and most seem to have come from Best Buys) but I have used mine extensively since launch day and have had zero issues. I do have a very open entertainment center stand and I have a mini fan clipped to it to make sure of great air flow. Did the same for the PS3 and I think that avoided problems. As far as the system, its is awesome. Very fast, very powerful and the redesigned controllers are fantastic. The rubber grips, the concave and tightened joysticks and the cool share button and touch pad are all great additions. Call of Duty looks amazing and NBA 2k14 and FIFA 14 are a blast. I can't wait for Thanksgiving week, I have the whole thing off and all but the Holiday itself will be spent gaming with friends. FYI, 3 on 3 FIFA is a fun afternoon.

Excellent System w/ loads of room to grow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall my first week with the system was pretty good. it has a very unique look that will work well with 90% of the entertainment centers in the world. The free content on the PSN was very nice and way to get your feet wet into the system. The new interface is unique and works well. This system has just scratch the surface of what its capable of, if you really want to see what next gen is..... wait till the games of next year get released. The launch titles of the year are nice and pretty but I don't think showcase what this machine can really do.

The best of the Next Gen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always do my research on bigger purchases. I've 40 and have owned all the Playstations, the Xbox and 360 (along with too many 8-bit on up systems, lol). Having served my country for 20 years, I always wanted Microsoft to put the other 2 companies in their wake. But they were too busy with the bottom line to worry about a truly good product. Updates were released late, designed weren't the best, etc. It seemed at least once a month Sony released an update to fix or enhance something about the PS3. Make the Blu Ray read faster at start up, etc. Small things yes, but it meant they were always working on things for the end user, us. So when the numbers were out, both were going to use AMD chips (great choice), research pointed to Sony looking beyond now with graphics, looking at the next generation of TV's and what they will be capable of as far as output, Microsoft was looking for the now. Open the cases and Sonys is more efficient for cooling, Microsoft, because of problems in the past, went over the top, probably over engineered or not as well engineered, depending how you want to look at it. Enough of that. I like how I can flip between gaming and Blu Ray right back to gaming. I like the start up time for the PS4 itself is only about 5-7 seconds. The controller is still as comfortable as you will find. The only design flaw I didn't like is the Share (you can have the PS4 record your game and then share it later) button and Option buttons are pretty much flush with the inside of the controller, making them somewhat tough to get to. Not impossible, just something to learn. And its my only complaint, so if that it...well, good job Sony.
