Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Perfect out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had nothing but success with my launch day PS4. Graphics blow me away on my 4K tv. They took everything that was good with the xbox and playstation controller and made it perfect! Games are great. Light and quiet, the system fits anywhere and it is ultra sleek....unlike the big bulky xbox one. My only real complaints are that you have to buy a playstation plus account now to play multiplayer and also xbox got the one up by making a deal with HBO soooo no HBOGO on PS4.....LAME.

Excellent start to the next-gen gaming era
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.System is what I expected. The UI is fast and easy to navigate. TwitchTV app is great. Some better launch games would have been better. Resogun, Flower and Assassin's Creed are excellent. Killzone and Knack are OK. Call of Duty is better than on PS3, but there aren't as many players yet because it has just launched. Overall the PS4 is a strong system at launch, and I expect constant additions to the features and games going forward. Looking forward to the new Infamous game in March.

Best Next-Gen Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ps4 is the best next gen console. It is primarily built for gaming unlike the xbox one. It is a hardcore gaming console that has really good specs. If you want a console that mainly focuses on gaming then get the ps4. It only costs $399 us dollars, compared to the xbox one which is $499 us dollars.

Excellent New Playstation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is a quiet system with great graphics and a comfortable controller. A definite upgrade over the PS3 and especially the fast load times and share features are great. Very interesting is how you can easily share or watch others play PS4 games with chat room functionality. The PS4 camera right now has no real utilization and the playroom is short on gameplay, but hopefully this will be utilized more going forward. Overall I would recommend it if you liked the PS3 at all.

Exchanged my Blue Light of Death for New PS4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a not so great experience when I got my PS4. I pre-ordered the PS4 through best buy online. It was shipped on 11/14 and it arrived on 11/15. However, when we hooked up the system, it didn't work. We had what some people may call the blue light of death. The blue light just kept blinking but the system did not come on. Needless to say, we were very upset and disappointed. I bought the system as an early Christmas gift for my husband and he was really looking forward to playing with the system when it arrived. I was on hold with SONY for 2.5 hours before I finally got through to someone. They explained to me that I can return the system to SONY but it was going to take 4 weeks for them to ship me a new one. I was not happy about that at all. I called Best Buy to see if I can exchange my defective PS4 with another one which I knew probably wasn't going to happen since Best Buy was sold out everywhere. However, BB gave me hope. They told me that they are allowed to hold pre-orders for 8 days and if the system is not picked up within that time frame, they are allowed to cancel the pre-order and it becomes available to the public for sale. I called the Best Buy near my store and at the time they had 20 preorders left to be pick up. Luckily for me, on day 8, all preorders were picked up except for one. I was able to exchange my defective device for a new device. It took a week for me to finally get a working device but at least I didn't have to wait 4 weeks. As for the system itself, I don't know. I just use it for Netflix and Amazon Video On Demand but my husband seems pretty happy. So I guess it's all good. I guess this review is more about BB customer service rather than the PS4 but its times like these that I'm glad that I chose to pre-order with Best Buy than Amazon. Had I ordered with Amazon, the exchange option wouldn't be available to me.

Nice Improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PS4 is simply the best in my opinion. It's simple, it works and gives good well rounded content. There is a small learning curve with the menus and where everything is at but not that bad. Controller feels great and the size of the unit was not too big not too small. Aside from all the potential first day/week launch problems I have had none. Best part for me was being able to pre-order the console from the Best Buy In Store Kiosk and having it waiting for me when I arrived.

What more could you ask for?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is awesome. It looks great. It runs great. It has a clean interface and screams next gen. You know that there is really nothing bad to say about it. Sony has some of the best exclusives, second only to Nintendo! The control feels awesome and I really like the touchpad. I would recommend picking up Playstation Plus because of all of the free games and bonuses/ discounts you get with it. If you're considering buying the XBONE....don't, just don't and buy this instead.

Sony gets it right.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony made plenty of mistakes when the PS3 first released but it seems like they learned their lesson this time around. A system that's easy to program for, $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, and purely gaming focused have made this a very interesting piece of machinery. It already has proven it has the hardware chops by running everything at native 1080p so far and the controller has finally had a significant change for the better. It lacks backwards compatability, however, and the initial launch lineup isn't very compelling for someone on the fence about which console to get. Time will tell if it can muster up a compelling exclusive lineup earlier in the life cycle instead of later like the PS3 did but at the moment, it is the console to beat for multiplatform games.

PS4 get one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All these people that gave a one star are idiots. Especially people who solely rely on exclusives. XboxOne has two that look up to par which is Titanfall and Ryse. Sony has one game that blows both of those games away Final Fantasy (drops mic, walks away)

The NEW standard.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very attractive console design. Reminds me of the pyramid design from the buildings in "Blade Runner". Easy to use interactive set-up menus. The new shock controller feels better and offers better control of in-game action. Its a bummer the controller cords do not have the same size connection from the PS3 unit so I wouldn't have to buy something else to charge 2 controllers at once. Colour depth in awesome. Detail is fantastic. Cannot wait for a new PS4 Formula 1 game!

Best system I've ever purchased.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After the Xbox 360 launch, I swore I'd never buy a gaming system at launch again. Fortunately, I changed my mind, and got the PS4. Other than a few PSN issues, which aren't system issues, there was not a thing wrong with the system. In fact, with it's amazing new controller, easy set-up, and streamlined interface, I was blown away at the quality. All this, and I even dropped the PS4 while hooking it up. A 4 foot drop easy. Not a scratch, or issue. I LOVE YOU SONY!!! :)

Great Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the last generation of consoles I used primarily the XBox360 as my console of choice. I bought the PS3 towards the end of the generation for Twisted Metal mainly, but also ended up buying Last of Us and GTA5. I have moved to console from PC for its simplicity as I'm getting older and PC gaming doesn't fit my schedule anymore. When researching the newest generation when they were first announced it was clear that I would be going with the PS4. I did not approve of not having an option to give away the physical copy of the disc. I also did not like the way the console had to always be on. Once XBox One started to change its stances on both of the previously mentioned issues the decision got much harder. Ultimately I chose the PS4 as I will only be using the console to play games. Although the PS4's main menu is not perfect, I do not like the fact that XBox ended up putting advertisements all over their menus. I don't want products being slammed down my throat when I'm trying to play a game and unwind. Features I like about the PS4: Sharing. I love being able to browse through peoples streams. I think this will be a way to look at new games before buying them. Menu. PS3 had an awful menu. They have fixed a lot of the problems with their old menu. It's not perfect, but its much, much better. Controller. I would always hit R3 on the PS3 when I was using the triggers...This would cause me to knife when I was trying to shoot. This. Kills. The. Player. The new controller fits my hand better, no more knifing when I'm trying to shoot. PS+. So much better than Xbox live. I'm glad Xbox Live has followed suit. Multitasking. I love being able to play in the main menu while the game is loading. You can also go back to the main menu and fiddle around while your waiting for your online game to start.

Overall Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics on the PS4 are amazing, they are a step up from the PS3. If you are looking for a GAMING system that also does netflix then it is a great choice. If you are looking for a multimedia system like that of the PS3 then pass for now. Hopefully they will update it so that it is more multimedia friendly like the PS3, but currently you cant play any videos/media from your home network. Make sure to get at least 2 controllers as the battery life is a great deal shorter for the PS4 dual shock than the PS3. I have had to switch out the controllers every few hours (4-5) instead of the 10-12 with the PS3. Overall I am happy with the PS4 for my gaming and netflix needs, but still want Sony to step up and make it truely great media system like the PS3.

Amazing Potential, So-so UI and Lineup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my PS4 at midnight of launch so I have had it for 9 days now. I also own the XBox One so I am coming at this from a point of comparison. Graphics and performance wise, the PS4 has the XBox One beat hands down. I owned Madden 25 on the PS3 prior to getting the PS4. The graphics are noticeably better but not necessarily exceptional. The main difference here is the smoothness of the player movement and in the menus. My friend and I love to do drafts in Madden in the connected franchise mode (we've done 7 so far in Madden 25) and on the PS3 it took forever ( about 75 minutes) just to do one draft because it took forever to load each round. On the PS4 it takes about 45 minutes! That's a lot of saved time. Call of Duty: Ghosts has been the game I have seen the most difference in graphically. It runs incredibly smooth and looks twice as good as it does on the PS3. The other thing worth mentioning is how quickly the system turns on compared to the XBox One. If you press the power button on the XBox one it takes about 30 seconds to come up. If you launch it from the Kinect it takes about 10-15 seconds to come up. With the PS4 it comes up in about 8-10 seconds. Something small but you definitely take notice. Where the PS4 really falls behind is the UI. I actually like the new UI less than the XMB from the PS3. It was much easier to get to what you wanted in the XMB. TO get to netflix you now have to go two menus deep to get to it (only one menu on the PS3). In addition to this there are icons for apps that you haven't downloaded that at this time you can't delete (e.g. Hulu). The XBox One has a much more refined and customizable UI at this point. Lastly, The launch lineup of games is seriosuly lacking. For exclusives, I have spent a lot more time on games like Dead Rising 3 and Forza for the XBox One than I have on Killzone for the PS4. I tried out Knack at a local Best Buy Event that a PS4 rep showed up for and I absolutely hated it. Killzone is the only game worth buying as an exclusive at this point and it is nothing special story wise (the graphics are incredible). I have played COD on both though and it definitely is much better on the PS4. In conclusion the PS4 I believe has the most potential. I feel that Microsoft put all their cards on the table from the very beginning. There is probably little new that will come from it over time. The PS4 already has it beat by a landslide in my opinion for graphics. It's only a matter of time before they start making improvements to their UI and more of their exclusives launch. I think if you are only buying one next gen console in the next year you should probably go with the XBox One. But if you want to invest in the console with the most long-term potential it's definitely the PS4.

It's better in every way
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great system...got it on launch day. Everything seams really well thought out. Moving between menus/games and apps is really fast. Over the next few year the games/apps are only going to get better so I'm excited. Biggest improvement over PS3 right out of the box it the controller. It just fits better in your hands, better input, and a lot input options for developers. Graphics are better too, but the real boost will be in the programing area for this console over last gen. Yes, the first crop of games look good but the next wave should have way better AI.

Awesome next-gen console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent platform, fast, easy, wonderful to use. I love the share feature, love the automatic updating, and love that the controller has a headphone jack. I have a couple of games and they are both great. Games will continue to improve as the power of this machine is unleashed. Truly happy with my purchase.
