Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

The PS4 has arrived!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up the PS4 at launch and so far it is a great console. I have not had any hardware issues with the console. Most of the launch games run at 1080p and all run smoothly. The system is super quiet and fast. Game installs and downloads are much quicker than PS3 and overall it is a huge improvement from the prior console generation. Did I mention the controller is leagues better than the prior dualshock? It is probably one of the best controllers ever made.

Greatness Is here
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is one of the next gen consoles. From its simple user interface to its stunning gorgeous graphics, the PS4 is a console to be reckoned with. The controller on the PS3 was great but the PS4 controller takes everything that was not so great on the PS3 controller and turned it around. Touchpad on the front, better form factor and a little heavier (only slightly) makes the PS4 controller better to manage and easier to hold for hours -- which I currently do.

Excellent Gaming Hardware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my PS4 on Launch Day (11/15/13) and I love it. The console itself is powerful and quiet. The UI is simple but powerful. The newly re-designed DualShock 4 controller is comfortable and precise. I love the fact that the PS4 can charge controllers and download updates while in standby mode. Now I no longer have to rush home to turn on my console and wait 30 minutes for a game update before I play. It's typically ready the moment I get home. In fact, I think the only negative thing you can say about the PS4 now is that there simply aren't enough games. That will change over time...but currently the majority of the PS4 catalog is already available on current-gen consoles and there are very few exclusives that really drive buying a PS4. If you buy the console now...you're buying potential...and this console has plenty of that. It is important to note that you WILL need to pay for online multiplayer with PS4. This is no different than on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. You will need a Playstation Plus account to play games online; however, a Playstation Plus account also offers free games for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita as well as discounts for games on all of these systems. There is plenty of value in maintaining a Playstation Plus account...especially if you already own a PS3 or PS Vita. Speaking of PS VIta, if you have one, a PS4 is a must-buy. Most games on the PS4 can be played from your PS Vita via Remote Play. You can also control your console remotely from the PS VIta or even use it as an additional PS4 controller. Cross-game chat between PS Vita and PS4 users is also supported. These two Sony consoles were made to work together seamlessly. I am very pleased with my PS4 purchase and I look forward to many years of online gaming with my friends and family over PSN.

Great for any level gamer...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new PS4 is very affordable. It is a great way to start the next generation of consoles. The newly redesigned Dual Shock controller makes it truly comfortable. Sony has managed to improve upon an already sound controller. The new design actually feels more natural. It will be great to use in sport games. My only complaints are as follows: No audio CD playback No support for MP3 No DLNA support Hopefully Sony soon releases an update that address the above.

great system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new system has great graphics, and every game loads up quickly. Having a standby mode is great for downloading new content without having the system turned fully on. The launvh titles for the PS4 are great and the games can only get better. One of the shortcomings is that the controllers charge does not last as long as they did on the PS3. But this is probably due the light bar and speaker that are integrated. Overall a great system with great potential.

Greatness is great, but it needs a few more patches
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The console is great. Menus are smooth, and fast. The games look fantastic. The controller is sooo much better than any other ps controller before this. The PS plus free games are nice as well. My only two complaints are that it doesn't output surround thru hdmi, and that the controller battery doesn't last as long as the dual shock 3 did. I'm sure with a couple of more patches it will continue to get better, and better. I definitely do not regret getting it.

PlayStaion 4 is truely the Next-Gen Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The system looks very architectural in design. The user interface is easy to navigate along with the PlayStation store (once more contents start showing up). If you are a Plus member; you get free games. The controller lights up in different colors and have speakers to output additional sounds with different games. One of the better feature is the Vita Remote Play as it works with very little lag. A great machine to own for Blu-Ray movies & play games with.

Great System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sleek looking machine that performs as expected. I really like that the system stays quiet. On my old PS3 after about 30 mins of playing the fan would kick on and stay on and was very loud. I have heard the fan on the ps4 but it was only on for a few mins that turned off. Graphics are sick you notice a huge difference between ps3 and ps4. I really like the headphone jack in the controller. I have been using my iPhone headphones with mic and it works great.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The system is great. The graphics are amazing. The Xbox One may have more entertainment features on it right now, but those are easy to add through updates which I'm sure the Playstation 4 will receive. The Playstation has better graphics which is something that can't be changed on the Xbox One. The only complaint I have is that the controller doesn't seem to hold as long of a charge as the previous controllers, but besides that, this is an amazing system.

Amazingnezz
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being in my field, I'm more inclined toward PC gaming because my $2,500 build can run circles around the PS4, however consoles obviously have their benefits. The biggest benefit for me, is that my impatient self doesn't have to wait two years for PC ports. The graphics aren't THAT much better than the PS3 (yet), there aren't that many great games for it yet (the Last of Us: Remastered, Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, Diablo 3 and Bloodborne slightly comes to mind) and the add on's are pretty pricey right now. Is it worth the upgrade over a PS3/360? Not if you're budget conscious. If you're a tech freak with a devoted lifestyle like myself, then absolutely!

Necessity? No. Nice to have? Absolutely.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While for the most part, the next-gen games look only slightly better than the current generation, I bought the PS4 at launch to take advantage of the newer hardware and UI. I like that the software updates can be handled in the background while you are using the system and it boots up very quickly. Also am extremely happy with the Dualshock 4 controller. For someone who likes to game on consoles, I am sure that no matter which you choose - the PS4 or the Xbox One, you will be happy with your purchase. I chose the PS4 because I would not use the features that Microsoft has built into their new machine (I don't watch cable television, don't do Fantasy Football, have no interest in having my entire living room on Skype, and while I use to have the Kinect for my Xbox 360, the novelty wore off quickly). I am sure that playing the same game on the PS3 would be just about the same, which shouldn't be a surprise since the publishers were having to create the game for current gen at the same time. The games will only get better and better as time goes on. This is no different than when the last generation took over from the previous one. The argument about whether to buy it or not is the same as with other purchases - do you need that new car? No, but it is nice to have and enjoy.

Great Next Gen Gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation 4 is a great continuation in the Sony lineup, I've had a PS2 and PS3 in the past and they've continued to put out great machines to play the latest and greatest games. It's very quiet and doesn't run hot while playing for hours, the graphics look as good as anything... even compared to a high end computer. And everything looks and runs smoothly.

Awesome Console for Gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my PS4, actually both of them since I need to have one at my house and one at my girlfriend's house. Easy to set up. The new UI is seamless and super quick going between apps/games back and forth. Since it just launch the graphic for games is amazing. Can't wait to see future games for this thing. If you are a true gamer then get this ASAP. If you have a Sony PSP you can remote play on the thing! Now that is amazing, I need to get a Sony PSP.

Excellent System but somewhat loud fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased an Xbox One and a PS4 at launch and have been comparing them for the past few days. The PS4 is much louder than the Xbox One fan. This is not much of a surprise to me given that the case is smaller, the power supply is internal, the PS4 is more powerful and has less ventilation. I prefer the XBO case design given its near silence. PSN went down right at launch. They couldn't handle the load of everyone logging in and getting the day 1 patch at the same time. Xbox Live did not go down and is running smoothly. This shows a more mature support structure beyond the box in your house for MS. The controllers are both great. I like the general feel of the XBO controller better but the bumpers on the PS4 are easier to reach. The touch pad doesn't work well in AC4. I hope that is software and not the touchpad but I am not sure. The interface on the XBO is better organized and more futuristic. I like it better. But what this all comes down to is the games. The extra hardware power under the hood for PS4 gives the games the graphical advantage. They run more smoothly and look more detailed. AC4 and Resogun are fantastic games! On the xbox, I expect XBL to be the more stable and advanced service offering dedicated servers and more up-time as well. So, I think the XBO may be the better system for multiplayer. I think they are both fantastic systems. I think I give the XBO an edge in online support. And I give the PS4 an edge in game fidelity. If you're more into multiplayer games, XBL will probably support that habit more. If you're more into single player games, PS4 will probably support that habit better. However, I don't think either choice is bad. I feel blessed to be able to have both.

Best console for the next gen!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Playstaion owner since Ps1. I have never had any problems with any of them. I bought ps2 when it first came out in 2000 and I still have it to this day. It still works perfectly! I bought the ps3 80 gb fat and never had a single problem with it either. I sold it when the slim version came out and that is the one I use everyday. On the other hand I I've known multiple people who owned xbox360s and ended up getting red ring of death and either had to send them in to get fixed or trash them and buy another one. What I'm trying to say is that Sony makes a very high quality console that is reliable and will last for years! Plus thaw Ps4 is a 100 dollars cheaper and better hardware specs! Go with the Ps4!

It's too early to tell
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think it is way to early to rate the system, after all the standard is going to be how it fairs to xbox. It seems like if your strictly a gammer this may be the better option. There are not enough games announced to really accurately judge what system is better at this time. I would probably lean towards xbox at the moment because of the interface and kinnect. It does seem to have marginally better graphics in videos online, but with effects and most of the time side by side I can tell the difference. I think 1 game coming out in 720 instead of 1080 is much ado about nothing. Forza is 1080p 60fps. The controllers are definitely improved. I am still on the fence, I may pick up an Xbox I just have to see how this plays out.

Outstanding Machine!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow!! Where to begin? I bought this at midnight launch and it is gorgeous. It is very smooth, clean, elegant, and versatile. I have my PS4 in my home office and I switch to my Vita in bed and the gaming experience is AWESOME! The remote play is worth me getting the Vita. For those who want remote play, uncheck the box on PS4 (Vita section) setting that says connect straight to PS4 from Vita. It's the second check box. Checking the second box does cause lag. Checking only option 1 makes connecting through the wifi. And the experience is seamless.

Purrtty and neat!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Waiting in line at the East side BestBuy at midnight was interesting. Aside from the morons who came DRUNK and was annoyingly STUPID DRUNK, it was surprisingly an pleasant experience. Anyway.. setup was rather easy and straight to the point. Wasn't expecting an update patch right away.. but ok. I wish they would of kept the old PS3 menu interface. The new one will take abit to getting used to. I don't like the big icons below the menus. I put a blue ray movie in and notice the ROM is alittle louder then ususal. I supposed that's normal. Joystick is very nice and smooth. I may want to get the camera one of these days. All in all its pretty zippy and load up time is quick.

Freaking Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn't wait to get my hands on this new console. Set up was simple and I was on and playing in no time. It blows the PS3 out of the water. I'm glad I got the PS4. Only problem I see with this, and I hope an update fixes, is that you can't download your own music or digital movies onto the system like you can the PS3. You also don't have DLNA support to stream from your PC or other Wi-Fi connected hard drive. I hope that this gets fixed soon.
