The PS4 received some mixed reviews, especially with the software update out-of-the-box. Thankfully I read some other online content that helped me prevent the system from "bricking" by not turning power to the machine unless you do it by the safe shut down method. Software patch downloaded right away, but got "stuck" on the installation part. After I logged into PS Network the patch installed just fine. I love the new controller! It is has improved controller ergonomics, which make extended game play manageable. The touchpad option isn't fully utilized on a lot of games at the moment, but mostly due to the game developers choice. After-all, it is another button that the user needs to interact with during game play. I do really enjoy the ability to plug in my headphones directly into the controller for great sound during gameplay. The PS4 also has the ability to multi-task between two applications (except between two games). This is nice so that I can switch back to the main menu while I'm waiting for the game to load or to check the status of any online friends. One of the biggest changes with PS4 is the requirement to join PS+ if you want to play online. I believe this was one of Sony's biggest values over Microsoft, but they have since joined the revenue club for this feature. From a business stance it makes sense and after I shelled out the $50 for a one year subscription I haven't had too much remorse as it offers some added features (cloud storage for game data saves, free download for exclusive games, automatic updating and of course online play). I've also had some issues with Blu-ray playback on the PS4 (Rio the movie) and haven't been able to obtain the latest software update from Sony to make it play. Other "older" Blu-rays seem to play just fine. Overall, I'm happy with the PS4 system and have logged over 90 hours of game play on the machine.

This Next-Gen console is the best. Sony has really made a well built beast of a machine. Everything from the specs of the machine to the ease of playing video games is great!!! I bought 2 of these consoles for my house. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves playing video games.

Amazing system, but some software quirks, and lack of worthwhile exclusives keep it from achieving greatness.

After upgrading from a PS3, it took me a day or two to get used to the new layout. The controller again was a little strange, but after a few days of settling in I can tell you it is a large bump up. Still waiting for HBOGo to be ready for the PS4, but other than that I'm very satisfied!

The PS4 is the epitome of a gaming system. Super easy to navigate the menus and gameplay on the first two titles I have (FIFA 2014 and COD: Ghosts) is out of this world. I haven't played the XBOX system for comparison, but I would certainly highly recommend this system to any serious gamers.

We only have a few games for it but my 17 year old loves it, she will play all day/night if she was allowed!! The graphics are amazing, up till now we were always Nintendo people but we have outgrown their games and needed something more mature....PS4 is exactly what we needed, we love it.

I switched from XBOX to PS4 due to price and other issues I had with Microsoft. So far, I love the PS4. It takes time to get used to the new controller, but other than that it was a seamless switch.

This system is everything it was advertised to be and more. The graphics are awesome, the game play smooth and fluent, the titles available already include many of our favorites and the upcoming titles include others we are interested in. We also enjoy the speed at which things load and play.

I Was So Excited When I Went To Best Buy And Bought This Sony PS4. The Only Issue Was That The PSN Was Still Down But Other Than That, Its Perfect.

After some major missteps during the launch of their previous console, Sony came back strong with PS4. Strong on both the hardware and software fronts and very competitively priced, the PS4 is a pleasure to experience. The software will come, but the hardware is here now and it's fantastic.

The graphics and user interface are solid, but this platform lacks what the PS3 was already capable of doing. This includes the ability to store and play songs, and to enable streaming of songs. Even using third party apps like Plex don't work with the PS4. The reason is Sony wants you to use their paid audio service and doesn't allow users to play their own music. This is a huge step backwards from the PS3, which was more of an open system. On the gaming front, there are a few good ones out there, but the only one I currently have is MLB The Show. The graphics on the PS4 are much improved, but it isn't quite as phenomenal as I would have liked. The frame rates, for example, can get rather choppy on MLB The Show. Media playback through services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are good, but I can't give the PS4 a thumbs up until they allow users a little more freedom to do their own thing, like stream music or play mp3's on the box itself. I know there are many PS4 users out there who are making noise, so I expect a change in the future.

For the price, it's hard to beat the many functions of the PS4. It'll play BluRays, allow you to download games (some of them free) from the PS Store, and offers the best gameplay. As the PS4 online experience grows, I'm sure my happiness about the purchase will also continue to grow.
