Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Best of the Next Generation Consoles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was up and running on my new PS4 in less than fifteen minutes! Once I loaded my Playstation Plus account, I was downloading free games (in the background), and playing Call of Duty Ghosts! Graphics are amazing, load times are short, HDD is huge, system is super snappy. New dashboard looks great. The new controller feels AMAZING, the dual rumble packs rock! Add the PS Vita and play throughout the whole house on wireless. It's a cool machine. Downside, the power and eject buttons are hard to see, lights on the controllers take away battery life and glow in the dark, with no way to turn the lights off. Limited games at release, let's get more games coming. Looks great in the media cabinet, it's quiet, small and powerful.

Sleek, fast console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a console that on the outside can only be described with one word: beautiful. This is a console which designers did not spare on details to end with a sleek design that no one would have any problem having in plain sight (compared to xbox one which is a significantly larger box with no other design than just a big black box). Now on whats important, PS4 console is packed with outstanding power and has no problems running a game (which is what was designed for) and contrary to xbox one, you do not need to pay a membership fee in order to use the apps such as netflix, amazon, hulu, etc, (which for xbox one in order to use them you have to pay a gold membership of about $60 per year). PS4 is $100 less than xbox one and mainly is due to PS4 not including the camera (while xbox one includes kinetic), however not having the camera in my opinion is a good thing for now since currently there aren't that many games to take advantage of it, unless you want it for video calls, which in my case I do not care about. So until I see the need to get the camera, I welcome the option to buy a PS4 that Sony does not makes me buy it with it. Overall I would recommend this console over xbox

PS4 is my choice! Gaming machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have chosen the PS4 for my next gen console! and here's why! All I want is a videogame focused 100% in games for gamers... I don't mind using Netflix or Hulu plus, but I feel relieved that the PS4 will not be integrated to a cable box... At the end, the PS4 has a better hardware than the X1 and also is $100 cheap... So, I was able to use that money to pre order 2 additional games. All third party studio have said, that the PS4 has a better DEV Kit as well. So for the next games, the PS4 is going to look better than the X1. Also, one major crucial thing that made me to choose the PS4 instead of the X1, it was that I can upgrade the HDD, I have plans to get a 512gb SSD on Black Friday for my PS4. At the end, it is all about the exclusives games... and Sony didn't even announce their biggest games yet, such as Uncharted, God of War, Twisted Metal, Resistance, Gran Turismo, Last of Us, Little Big Planet, MLB, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk, Beyond: Two Souls and etc.... I believe that the PS4 has a better package, better hardware and games...

Best Next-Gen Console Period!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great design, Next-Gen. Graphics and handful of games available during launch, PS4 has surpassed my expectation also to note that PS4 has more games with higher resolution and is much cheaper than Xbox One. But I'll buy an Xbox One regardless as gamers should not pick and choose. Overall great product and I do recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy listening to music, blu ray movies and next-gen gaming!

Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is a great system. I must admit that at first I was having some doubts about buying it and even thought about purchasing the new Xbox. This system has surpassed my expectations. Graphics are great, gameplay is smooth, and the apps are intuitive and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone out there who is trying to decide between this system and Xbox1.

Best Console to date!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ps4 is an amazing machine! I was lucky and was able to get this upon launch night from Amazon. On my first few minutes of gaming, I realized just how much better this ps4 truly is. It is extremely snappy and the true multi-tasking is very nice! One of my favorite features is the headphone jack on the remote. This allows me to plug in any headphones (mine are shure se535's) and play silently. This is huge for me because I game rather late and I live in an apartment. The remote controller is probably the single greatest upgrade from ps3 to ps4. It is slightly larger and the trigger buttons and analog sticks are much improved! The trackpad and light sensor are nice but aren't being used to their potential yet. I was worried about the size of the controller initially because I have small hands, however it hasn't been an issue. And once you use the ps4 controller and revert back to the older dualshock remote for the ps3, you'll hate it! Overall the OS is amazing and very simplistic and well-thought out! I actually have my name as my online id, but we'll see in the future if that causes any issues with people contacting me via Facebook. Minor quibbles with the machine is the lack of backwards compatibility and the lack of exclusives so far. Though those aren't deal breakers because I still have my ps3 and I know the games are coming. Also my only con is the game installations when you first install a disc. For me these take quite a while and upwards of 30 minutes to an hour. I though that this provided you to play games instantly without the disc, however this is not true. You still have to insert the disc to play the game. So I'm not sure why Sony has you do this. Currently I am playing NBA 2k14 (which is in my opinion the best looking ps4 game to date) and Assasins Creed: Black Flag and I'm loving every minute of it! I highly recommend this console to anyone!

Best Next-Gen system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very satisfied with my purchase of the Playstation 4 using amazon. Realizing it was offered on the site I jumped at the chance at ordering it online rather than calling every local store to see if they had any available. Upgrading from standard delivery to one day shipping I received my ps4 in 24 hours. The only concern I had about my purchase was that it was left on my porch for several hours, so between the time I received the alert and the time I got home was a bit stressful. The playstation 4 is an essential purchase for playstation fans, basically they upgraded everything that the ps3 offered. From finally adding a group chat the does not require you to leave a game or join the same game as others. The download speeds are very impressive, as well as the overall smoothness of gameplay. Graphics have upgraded as well but with such limited playing time so far and only two games I have yet to see the full extent. Im not used to the main menu yet but the ease with which you leave from a tv app such as netflix, hulu etc to join a game and then return is awesome.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own both the XBOX ONE and PS4, I enjoy both systems almost equally the ps4 is really just for gaming and the graphics are excellent but my favs is the controller (other than the short battery life) but the touch pad is great and sound coming from the controller is definitely unique and awesome!

Excellent hardware; lacking media features.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is more powerful, and better designed than its competitors. It provides better graphics and smoother gameplay, but is contained in a smaller and more streamlined chassis. It even has an internal power supply, providing an even smaller profile when compared to the XB1. It also features an extremely feature full controller with bluetooth, a TRRS 3.5mm headset jack that works with many phone headsets, gyro features that can make the controller perform much like a wiimote, rumble motors, and a speaker. The built in browser feels much like a Mac or PC, and is pretty easy to navigate even without a keyboard. Voice features don't require the camera. Just plug a headset in. Now the negatives: Like the XBox one, it features a Blu-Ray player, but the lack of dlna or other media features pale in comparison to the XB1. You cannot play your media on the ps4. Period. The HDMI input on the XB1 is an amazing feature, as well. The analog thumb sticks on the dualshock 4 have an uncomfortable grip, but this can be easily overcome by either replacing them with XB1 thumb sticks or buying silicone caps to cover them. The voice commands are limited and could learn a thing or 2 from Siri. Finally, the dualshock 4 battery is not removable, and there are almost no aftermarket controllers. Overall, the PS4 delivers mid to high end gaming PC quality graphics with the polish and smoothness of a console- and at half the cost. While light on features other than gaming, it shows a lot of promise as Sony adds features. Ultimately, most people will buy the console their friends are playing on. If this is not a factor and you have a media center or another way to play your videos and mp3's, then this is the best option bar-none for next-gen gaming.

Great purchase for Blu Ray and Streaming Video
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I mainly bought this to stream video from Vudu and Amazon Prime, since we don't have the time to devote to the games we used to enjoy. There was a time when I could play Pool of Radiance from start to finish on a Saturday, but there's just no doing that with today's games. The interface is beautiful and even easier to navigate than the old PS3, and the system is even faster and smoother than our old PS3.

So sweet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is exactly what I had been waiting for. As a lifelong Playstation customer, the enhancements that Sony has made are awesome. An easy transition from PS3, the new system delivers on every level. With so many features, the PS4 is perfect for any family. The only regret I have is that there is not a Pandora app to download to listen to music, which forces you to have to purchase Music Unlimited. Also, I bought the PS4 after Christmas for $399 and it did not come with a game. A week later, Best Buy was selling the system with a bundle option for a free game download for $399. Other than that, I would have given it a 5 star rating!

Best Next Gen Console For Now
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to start this review by saying I'm a homer for anything Microsoft. I thought the Xbox 360 was the superior console; furthermore, I own two 360's, a PS3, PS4, and Xbox One. If you're a gamer, which I am, then the PS4 is the superior console right now. All the new games run at 1080p vs. lower resolution's on the Xbox One. This in and of itself isn't a deal killer, unless you have a giant screen like I do (73"). The interface is easy to navigate, and while the camera has limited voice commands, it actually works better than the Kinect 2.0 (the problem with the Kinect 2.0 is that it has too many commands, and not all of them work). The controller is a delight to use for the first time since, well, ever. Sony really knocked it out of the park this time, and the light sensor on the rear, when used, is actually helpful in determining health. The motion sensing portion isn't being fully utilized yet, as well as the track pad, but both have great potential. Plus, the share button is just fun to use (especially in Madden 25). The built in speaker is also a nice addition, and really a nice experience. Killzone is the only game, so far to fully utilize all the features of the controller. The downside is the battery life, but I solved that by buying two controllers. You can also just get a usb extension cord, and play while charging, so not a big deal. The hardware inside is superior. I build gaming PCs on the side, so I'm pretty familiar with DDR5 RAM (I have two EVGA Titans in my gaming rig.) It's super fast and makes the user interface snappy, and produces high frame rates at 1080p. The processors and GPUs are similar in both systems but Sony somehow got more out of it. I will have to open mine to take a look at the architecture. The PS Vita is finally a useful accessory. I can stream any game into any room of my house, and have an experience close to the console. While I wouldn't buy a Vita just for this feature, okay, well I would but I'm a nut about tech, it's great if you already own one (I bought at it's launch, and have been disappointed until now). I pre-ordered the PS4 first because I had a feeling Microsoft was going to screw the pooch on this one. Now that I have both consoles I have to say that the Xbox One is a nice system with a lot of potential, but it's more complicated to use then the PS4, doesn't have quite as much horsepower, no longer has the superior controller, and Kinect 2.0 with TV integration is a mess right now. If you're a gamer, then right now the PS4 is the better system. This may change in the future as each system updates their operating systems, and new games come out, but for now the PS4 is my system of choice. Good job Sony you one me over from Microsoft!

Buy It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally decided to upgrade from Playstation 3. Haven't regretted it at all. Graphics are amazing, Blu Ray movies are more fluid and clear and account carries over to next gen. Only drawback is the controller battery will need charging after about 7 hours of constant play but I guess we are not supposed to be playing it that long :). Buy it and cross the waters into next gen gameplay!

Worth every penny
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for myself as an early Christmas present regardless the not so good reviews. It looks and plays great. The controller took a little getting used to cause its a little different from the PS3 controller. The controller feels great after you get use to it and feels like it plays smoother than the PS3 controller. Graphics wise, I can see a difference. For example CoD: Ghosts looks a little unpolished as for on PS4 looks smooth and very well done. Even the PS4 menus looks great after you start it up. The system itself looks beautiful. The design is a little weird but I don't mind it. The only problem I have with the PS4 is it's not backwards compatible and you have to pay to play games online but that's not too bad cause it's $10 cheaper than Xbox live. Other than that the PS4 is great and recommend it for yourself or anyone else as a gift.

All in one entertainment machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always had the Playstation system so decided to stay with it for this one as well. The price being $100 cheaper than the Xbox One also helped make my decision easier. So far I've been nothing but impressed with the system. The graphics look great. The new controller is an upgrade from the PS3. The system itself looks sharp and looks like it could be a piece of art sitting around your house instead of an entertainment machine. I also use it for watching movies and streaming content, which it does wonderfully as well. There is not a PS4 specific youtube app yet for it like there was on the PS3 is my only complaint so far. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.

Playstation 4 hand down!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pre-ordered this the day it was available right after E3. I'm long time fan of XBOX and after owning a Xbox 360 i'm jumped to Sony as they simply have the better product. I say this because M$ even with the Xbox 360 has been known to make bad choices and force things upon consumers. A good example is needing Gold subscription to watch Netflix. I'm happy to got my hands on PS4. Sony does care about customers at some point. *Sleek unit *blu-ray *Great graphics *Easy swapping HDD and setup w/o *issues* Note: You can playing multi-player online for free without required PS subscription. Depends on what's kind of games doesn't require subscription for MP as instance- BlackLight: RETRIBUTION - Play for FREE! . No B$!

Great console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to choose a system between the PS4 and Xbox One, I happened to be more impressed with the PS4. The change from Xbox 360 to PS4 was easier than I thought, graphics are excellent, games and apps run smoothly, looks good sitting on a shelf or entertainment center, and the controller is awesome. It really all comes down to preference between the two systems but I would recommend the PS4 over the Xbox one. The transition was easy and it wasn't weird getting used to even as a long time Xbox gamer. If you love features, certain exclusives, the Kinect, gesture innovations and all in one the Xbox one is more appropriate but if better graphics and performance, cheaper membership with more benefits, certain exclusives, and a comfortable and innovative controller are more important to you than the PS4 is for you.
