Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

The PS4 is exactly what I had been waiting for. As a lifelong Playstation customer, the enhancements that Sony has made are awesome. An easy transition from PS3, the new system delivers on every level. With so many features, the PS4 is perfect for any family. The only regret I have is that there is not a Pandora app to download to listen to music, which forces you to have to purchase Music Unlimited. Also, I bought the PS4 after Christmas for $399 and it did not come with a game. A week later, Best Buy was selling the system with a bundle option for a free game download for $399. Other than that, I would have given it a 5 star rating!

I own both the Xbox One and this system, and utilize both. I have to say I don't like one particularly better than the other, and there are good and bad for either system. Since this review is for the PS4 though.... I do like that the controller form factor is improved. My fingers no longer slide right off the triggers as they do with the standard PS3 controllers. Setup is easy, everything from profile logins to network setup. Battery life of the controllers could be vastly better. For a controller that does not allow standard batteries to be inserted in a pinch, it sucks when I forget to plug in the controller to recharge after a long gaming session. The OS interface isn't bad, though there is room for improvement. The games I've played run well and graphics are what I expected for launch-day and early-lifecycle games. I can't wait to see what developers do with the system in the long term!

I wasn't sure whether to get the Xbox One or the PS4 and finally plumped for the PS4 over the holidays. The console is smaller than the Xbox One but it's a rocket! I can't believe how amazing the graphics are in the games - Advanced Warfare I'm never sure its a movie or a game. It's quiet and I like that the controller can be recharged through the USB port. It's been a fun distraction!

Finally decided to upgrade from Playstation 3. Haven't regretted it at all. Graphics are amazing, Blu Ray movies are more fluid and clear and account carries over to next gen. Only drawback is the controller battery will need charging after about 7 hours of constant play but I guess we are not supposed to be playing it that long :). Buy it and cross the waters into next gen gameplay!

Solid next gen console. Easy to set up and get going. Controller batter life is short, but comes with a cord to charge, unlike the xbox where you often need batteries or third party chargers. Graphics are great, and the console runs smooth and quite.

Enjoying the system so far. It's very slick, fast and the games look great. I do feel like its could have been a bit better, seeing that it can't replace my PS3. I still have it connected since the games are still very good, and can't be played on the PS4. Eventually it will, once they stop producing the PS3 games. So far though, I really like the layout, it's smooth and fast. The share option the remote is really cool, and easy to share your game play. The actuall remote feels really good, better then the PS3. The battery life could be MUCH better. Overall enjoying the system and can't wait for Final Fantasy XV.

I pre-ordered this the day it was available right after E3. I'm long time fan of XBOX and after owning a Xbox 360 i'm jumped to Sony as they simply have the better product. I say this because M$ even with the Xbox 360 has been known to make bad choices and force things upon consumers. A good example is needing Gold subscription to watch Netflix. I'm happy to got my hands on PS4. Sony does care about customers at some point. *Sleek unit *blu-ray *Great graphics *Easy swapping HDD and setup w/o *issues* Note: You can playing multi-player online for free without required PS subscription. Depends on what's kind of games doesn't require subscription for MP as instance- BlackLight: RETRIBUTION - Play for FREE! . No B$!

This is the console everyone should buy. Quiet, fast, easy to use, intuitively designed, and improved in every way over the ps3. The OS is extremely fast unlike the cluttered and laggy ps3 xmb. The controllers are redesigned and are incredible. Best I have ever used. PSN is better than ever and you get a lot of free stuff with playstation plus. So the game library isn't quite there yet. It just launched. Killzone is a good launch exclusive and resogun on PSN is a HUGE boon. Even warframe is pretty cool and its free as well as resogun and blacklight retribution. 4 good titles as well as all the 3rd party games. Next year a ton is coming out on the PS4 that make it the console to have. At 400 bucks its priced at a sweet spot and it really is a fantastic piece of machinery.

The graphics are great and they only are going to get better, the loading times are very short, the navigation is very fluid and much faster than PS3. on the down side I was a bit surprised to see the lack of content to customize your PS4, theme and background wise. very few apps but not a big deal I just thought there would be a YT app but so far they haven't released it and I can't watch any flash content, but I guess they'll going to get that eventually. Overall is a great console and I believe it has more potential than the Xbox one. It's a sleek looking console, not too noisy although it runs a little hot

I have had my Playstation4 since November of 2014 and have not had any issues with it. It's a solid gaming system with fantastic capabilities. I cannot make comparisons to XboxOne because I haven't purchased one yet. I do wish it came with a larger HDD than 500GB

All around better console than xbox one. Controller has exceeds any currently available contoller, not only incorporating a multi - touch touchpad, but one that functions as a button, as well. Due to the lit top, the controller can also be used in conjunction with the Move camera. Console is sleek and unintrusive, as it does not require purchase of camera. Unfortunately, at the time of launch, not many games were made available, as three were war games and three were sports games out of the approx 10 games available. Reads blu Rays 16x faster than its predecessor, is quieter, charges controllers when off and even has a smaller footprint. Controllers can also be charged from any USB port unlike those of PS3. USB cable supplied is likely to be the longest you'll own.

The Playstation 4 does everything the PS3 did but much better! The graphics are more stunning, the interface is more beautiful, the limits are boundless. The system does need more high quality games, but so does any new gaming system when it first comes out and is getting established. 2015 is looking to be a great year for gaming!

Because I'll most likely be picking up both consoles, it really doesn't matter to me which console has what specific feature/capability. The fact is, Sony and Microsoft are different companies that want to both deliver great experiences on each of their consoles. Microsoft feels the world is ready for interactive television, on top of a gaming console. Sony feels the world still wants a console primarily focused on gaming with a few added apps which are able to stream media (Netflix/Hulu). Either way you go, you're going to get a good experience. However, before you make a decision on which console to get, do yourself a favor and conduct a little research to make sure you know exactly which experience you want to dive into. Both consoles will deliver in amazing gaming experiences and that's what should be the most important to any gamer, whether you're an Xbox follower or Playstation follower.

This is leagues ahead of the PS3 and the Xbox One. It was an easy set up and has amazing graphics. Recommend it to everyone since you don't have to have Playstation Plus unlike how Microsoft requires Xbox Live. It doesn't play PS3 games so it can't replace the older console only play newer games which the PS3 doesn't have.

I don't even know where to begin with my review. I guess I could say that I love the Playstation 4 or that it works perfectly and I've had no issues (apart from the Playstation Network being down a bit as it was getting hammered by all the new PS4 owners). I guess I'll just do a list or Pros and Cons: PROS: -The system itself looks awesome. Very architectural. It was actually the first thing my girlfriend commented on and said she loved the way it looked. -The User Interface is basically an upgraded XMB. If you liked the XMB, you'll like this interface. It is also incredibly snappy and responsive. -Getting in to and out of the Playstation Store is seamless. Not like on PS3 where it takes 30 sec to a minute to load. It loads instantly .and is integrated in to the UI. -Resogun is awesome in all its old school shoot-em-up glory. -Killzone: Shadowfall is beautiful but I haven't had too much play time with it yet. -Knack is surprisingly fun, despite what all the reviews say. It looks like a Pixar movie at points. Drop in co-op is a blast. It's so much fun with me as regular Knack and my girlfriend as Robot Knack. She is actually better at beating up baddies than I am. -Updated trophy support. Rarity of trophies is a fun little data point to look at. -Playstation APP/offscreen capabilities are nice. Typing using a touch screen is so much nicer than using a gamepad. -DualShock 4 (the controller) is nice to hold. Trigger shoulder buttons are a marked improvement over the DS3 R2/L2 buttons. -My favorite feature: VITA REMOTE PLAY! Works like a dream. Almost no perceptible lag. I was playing Resogun on it (a game that requires little to no lag or you'll die) and it ran so smoothly. CONS: -UI is barebones. That's actually fine with me but many people these days demand a more robust UI. -Unable to delete unused Apps in the movie/tv section. If there is I haven't figured out a way to do it. Granted, I haven't tried that hard since I've been having too much fun playing games. SUMMARY: It's a great gaming system with some great games and a promising future. The interface is bare bones (which I like) and incredibly responsive but may not satisfy people who love a more robust UI. The remote play of the vita and second screen capabilities via Playstation App are nice additions that will get a lot of use out of people that own a Vita/Playstation App compatible phone. It is a device made to play games and does so wonderfully.

I play my PS4 a lot more than I play my Xbox One and I've been an Xbox guy for the past 10 years. I think Sony has finally got something that will beat the Xbox One in my opinion. Kill Zone and inFAMOUS look absolutely amazing compared to anything the Xbox is running. Sony has also perfected the internal power supply so hooking the console up was an absolute breeze, it's smaller than the Xbox One and, in my opinion, was way more fun to unbox. The design is much more sleek but also keeps functionality. My only concern is the console getting too hot, but I think that is due to my TV stand. If you're one of those people who is teetering between the PS4 and Xbox One, the PS4 will not disappoint!

Just like when I bought Blu-Ray years ago, seeing the product work in Best Buy and being impressed with what I saw got me to buy the PS4 to upgrade from my very old Wii system. I asked what game software was available and only saw a very limited number of offerings...but I figured since this was a hot selling unit, I'd go on-line after I got it home and see what was really out there. Well, to be honest there is really isn't a lot out there. Of the few limited titles that are available, they all seem to be of the same genre, either EA Sports or a shoot 'em up role player type. I figured with high quality graphics and sound I would be able to enjoy driving or flight simulators unmatched by previous technology....not yet....hopefully someday? At this point a I feel kind of like I would if I bought a Ferrari, but was locked into a community where all the roads have a 35 mph speed limit. Based solely on the high quality of the unit (though it does run a little warm) and my belief Sony will make good on the release of software hopefully very soon, I'm still gonna recommend it as for what is available, it looks great.

The console runs smoothly, the games start quickly, and the controller has a good, solid feel to it in your hands. The only minor gripe I have is that, from what I've observed, is the DS4 controller needs to be charged more frequently than the DS3, probably because of the LED light that can only be dimmed and not turned off, but that could always change in a possible system update.

The PS4 is a really great gaming platform, with some impressive graphics and features. The system has a fast processor, that is able to shoot out very detailed graphics at smooth frame rates. The gaming catalogue is being added to weekly, and presently offers a few must have titles such as MLB 14, and Killzone Shadow Fall. I hope the system receives the same attention by developers as the previous 3 iterations. If that is the case, hold on to your hats gamers, we're in for an unforgettable ride!
