Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Good system lacking on the Apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wife bought it for me as the graphics are slightly better that the XBOX One and smaller is size. This is my return to Sony after having spent years on Xbox/ Xbox 360 ver 1 & 2. Both consoles still lack on the Home entertainment piece they preached about, so it came down to games and graphics. Now that there are less console only games these days sony won out for two reason. One is that I still have not replaces my first Gen Playstation 3 yet and third Xbox 360 before they got it right with the last one. Two the graphics are slightly better and that is thanks to my brother having both consoles.

Great console!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.-The system itself looks awesome. Very architectural. It was actually the first thing my girlfriend commented on and said she loved the way it looked. -The User Interface is basically an upgraded XMB. If you liked the XMB, you'll like this interface. It is also incredibly snappy and responsive. -Getting in to and out of the Playstation Store is seamless. Not like on PS3 where it takes 30 sec to a minute to load. It loads instantly and is integrated in to the UI. -Resogun is awesome in all its old school shoot-em-up glory. -Killzone: Shadowfall is beautiful but I haven't had too much play time with it yet. -Knack is surprisingly fun, despite what all the reviews say. It looks like a Pixar movie at points. Drop in co-op is a blast. It's so much fun with me as regular Knack and my girlfriend as Robot Knack. She is actually better at beating up baddies than I am. -Updated trophy support. Rarity of trophies is a fun little data point to look at. -Playstation APP/offscreen capabilities are nice. Typing using a touch screen is so much nicer than using a gamepad. -DualShock 4 (the controller) is nice to hold. Trigger shoulder buttons are a marked improvement over the DS3 R2/L2 buttons. -My favorite feature: VITA REMOTE PLAY! Works like a dream. Almost no perceptible lag. I was playing Resogun on it (a game that requires little to no lag or you'll die) and it ran so smoothly.

Awesome next gen system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took a chance between the two "next gen" gaming systems and glad I went with the PlayStation 4. I've been through almost every console from Super Nintendo on up and am still blown away by how each time video gaming gets better and better... and was even more blown away with the PS4. After reading tons of reviews I was able to get my hands on one of the limited quantities Best Buy had an within a couple days I was blasting my way through COD:Ghosts and Battlefield 4. I've been blown away by the graphics and content within the two games, and am even more so impressed with the redesigned UI of the PS4 compared to the PS3. Sony amped up the ease and accessibility I feel, making the environment on a lot more user friending when navigating through options. Using the PlayStation Network seems a bit easier since the last time I used it on the PS4 (approximately three months ago) and everything seems more stream-lined. I have, however, noticed that if my internet connection is not strong enough (e.g. streaming too much, a download eating up too much bandwidth, etc...) the PSN will not connect and any sort of online gaming is limited. This could be to poor ISP quality though. All in all, I'm glad I went with the PS4 vs. the Xbox One. It seems to have been the correct choice for wanting to play games, rather than have a social media box sitting in my living room.

A must have at home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics looks great and easy navigation makes this play station 4 the best one yet. The only thing I don't like is that you cannot play ps3 games

The PS4 is the pinnacle of next gen consoles.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation 4 is THE next gen console. If you aren't already a PlayStation fan you will be after seeing this console in action. Games look beautiful and action pops off the screen with the graphics of this console. The system comes with everything you need to get started. There are games available for all gamers from action packed shooters to fun family friendly platformers and adventures. This console has your entertainment covered. Watch Blu-ray movies, stream video, play games, share gameplay clips with friends. I highly recommend this next gen powerhouse.

Incredible System
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using my PS4 for about a month now and I am completely blown away by how incredible it is. Coming from PS3, I think it is noticeably faster than PS3 all around. The new cross-media bar (or whatever they call the new interface) is much simpler and streamlined compared to the PS3's. I also like the included 500GB hard drive since that was one of the first things I upgraded on my 80GB PS3. The only thing I can find wrong with it (and this really doesn't pertain to the system itself) is that the PlayStation Store could be organized better. I actually liked the layout of the old PS Store when PS3 first came out. I think it was a bit easier to find games and add-ons, but that's probably just me.

Amazing with some kinks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just to disclaim, I own a PS3, a PS4, and a Wii U. I enjoy all 3 platformers. Each have their own talent which they bring to the table. The PS4 in particular is spectacular in its quality; the graphics and the variety of its many services. The games which I own show what its graphics engine is capable of, and a few more which are soon to be released (at the time this review was written) look promising. My only two gripes are this: 1) No backwards compatibility with the PS3. Sure, the X-Box One also has this downfall, but the Wii U laughs in both of their faces with this feature to play Wii games. With the massive, massive gaming library the PS3 has, I have no choice but to keep my old console system to play them. Unless... 2) The new feature (still in Beta), Playstation Now, is Sony's attempt at bridging the problem found in 1. HOWEVER, their pricing system is just atrociously absurd. Be prepared to shell out doubledigit dollar amounts if you want to RENT a PS3 game digitally for anything longer than 4 hours. Until I see that price go down, this isn't a feature that I'll be using. Sorry, Sony. All in all, you can probably wait until the PS4 has a larger library before investing in this console, but you won't regret it if you get one now. Just don't make the same mistake I did in not researching if you plan to play any of your PS3 games on it.

PS4
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has done a fantastic job on their new system. The system is very quiet and you can pretty much use it as your media system if you don't have a smart tv for subscriptions to Netflix Hulu and many other apps. The only downside is that it is not backwards compatible to use PlayStation 3 games and you must now buy a subscription to play online now like the Xbox. But you get your moneys worth once you download a couple free game titles every month. The plus side is PS4 games are in 1080p and can be played remotely by using a Sony Xperia Z3 phone or by using a Sony tv adapter so you can actually stream the system to another tv. Or play on your phone. When away from the main tv or to kick your kid off the tv as long as your in streaming range. The hard drive can be easily swapped out to a bigger hard drive if needed. Also on the warranty you can buy directly from Sony for 3yrs for $55.00 and it cheaper than the Geek squad 2yr deal. The games titles have been slow to come out but it is starting to pick up. The controller is pretty cool with built in speaker and a little better quality feel besides the thumb sticks which are kind of cheap feeling. Pretty much a great system. Now go buy one and find me SCARY-LARRY

Next Gen Console Winner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation 4 is a superb gaming console. Beautiful games, excellent design and build, the BEST controller, user intuitive UI, free top quality games thanks to Playstation Plus; with such great pros and insignificant cons, its hard not to recommend a PS4. Current game selection could be better, but its actually much better then any other console 6 months in. Current great games include: Infamous: Second Son, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Resogun, Fez, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition. Upcoming games I'll get: Watch_Dogs, The Last of Us Remastered, Destiny, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Batman: Arkham Knight, Uncharted, The Order: 1886, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, and future installments in other excellent series, as well as exciting new IPs. The Playstation 4 has an amazing future, I didn't even mention you can stream PS3 games to it like Netflix in the form of PS Now, which launches soon. Get a PS4!

Great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ps4 is a fantastic gaming system with great graphics and resolution. It's easy to hookup and although it doesn't come with a camera like Xbox one it can be purchased separately and still be cheaper. I love the system and play every day. It is also small and fits easily.

PS4 is Sleek!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always owned Xbox's and made the switch to PS4. So far I am enjoying it. There is very little amount of apps and games for this system at the moment, but I'm sure that will change quickly. I love the controller it feels very high quality and fits perfectly in your hands. The actual machine is small and sleek and very modern and cool looking making no noise compared to everything else in my house. The whole system is very responsive and lightening fast with your commands. You don't need to pay for the Playstation service in order to use the apps which I liked.

Great experience so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a replacement/alternative for my 3 boys to use as the Wii U we have needs to be repaired. The game selection for younger kids (my 4 year old) is pretty limited but games that my 11 & 8 year olds are into are varied nicely. So far in the last 3 months we've bought 6 games for it and watched movies and tv shows through it. Nice stylish look and versatility for a growing family.

Best Next-Gen Console Period!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great design, Next-Gen. Graphics and handful of games available during launch, PS4 has surpassed my expectation also to note that PS4 has more games with higher resolution and is much cheaper than Xbox One. But I'll buy an Xbox One regardless as gamers should not pick and choose. Overall great product and I do recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy listening to music, blu ray movies and next-gen gaming!

Great product, and now really a standout!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used to play PS1, then PS2, then briefly played PS3 before switching to Xbox 360. At the time, that was where the games our household wanted to play were, even though we preferred the graphics of the PS3 and not requiring additional Xbox Live memberships for each person in the household. Now, however, we're back to the PS4. Really a great console, with amazing capabilities and, at this point, comparing it to the Xbox One, well, this is just definitely more of getting your money's worth.

Powerful Console, Good Games, Looks Like A Winner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a console guy - so yes, I realize a supped up PC will run games better. That being said, this is still a powerful console and a great upgrade from the PS3 (I also own a 360 and an Xbox One). The UI is a slight upgrade from the PS3, but the whole thing is zippier now making it easier to navigate. Being able to pause games and go back to the main menu of the PS4 to take care of things, then jump right back into the game is a great feature. Features like rest mode (which updates everything in the background while you sleep) are useful and function well, though I don't use them anymore just due to the vampire volts I'd be wasting. The PSN navigation is better than it used to be and installs seem to go faster (you can even start playing games while it installs). All in all, the OS works very well and gets you to gaming fast, while still having all the extras some people want/need (Netflix and other streaming video, sharing videos and clips, etc). Share play is a cool feature, but as I have no friends that I really game with, it's useless to me - but since others might find it useful it basically allows you to invite other PS4 owners who don't have a game you own to jump into yours temporarily (you'll have to Google it for details). Also, the PS4 wifi seems to be leagues better than the PS3. Blu-ray playback seems as good as ever, as are the audio/video options for outputting to your home theater if you use one. Graphics, audio, gameplay, etc - that's all up to the developers and not the machine, so it's hard to say where this generation of consoles will go, but so far my impressions have been very good. Games look better, having lower latency, screen tear, and frame rate issues, etc. My only complaint is that with the move to PS4, you are now required to pay for PS+ to play games online, one of the selling points the PS3 had over the 360 ($50/yr I think, though discounted membership codes can be found online). PS+ also nets you some freebies, like games (some of them recent indies or older AAA games, so they are pretty good), but since I already pay for XBL Gold I can't afford to shell out for a second membership. Cest la vie. This is a great gaming machine and entertainment center.

Tons of fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was an unauthorized impromptu purchase. I was looking at cameras and knew that the PS4 was hard to come by and the phone system at my local store indicated that they wouldn't have any til Sunday. So, a young kid asks if he can help me, I say no, he asks again and I said, sure, sell me a PS4 - and he has 15 in stock to sell before Sunday. I went home with the console, an extra controller and Lego Marvels. Setting up the PS4 itself was easy as was creating my own PSN account and creating a master user profile on the console. Creating sub-accounts is easier online, but still clumsy as you have to do so at both the playstation network site and the sony entertainment site. Game play and the controllers are great! I love that the controllers plug into the system to charge! The unit replaced my blu-ray player in the system set-up and plays disks easily with great picture and sound. We love it.

The Best Next-Gen Console: Playstation 4
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this a week after the official release. And so far I am loving every minute of it. Sony has gone to great lengths to clean up and present the user interface in a much cleaner and more presentable way. The menu is easily navigable. The response from button presses is precise. And the overall feeling of the Playstation 4 menu is much cleaner. One new feature I enjoy is not having to exit the current game/app to go back to the menu. You simply 'suspend' the game/app. And can easily resume your game/app without having to restart it. It would be nice, though, if you could have multiple game/apps open at the same time. The controller feels perfectly fitted to my hands. The texture of the controller, the feel of the buttons - all very premium. I will say that the placement of the Share/Home buttons are awkward at times to press without looking sometimes. I understand their placement is probably the only place on the controller that makes sense... And most likely due to the size of the touch pad. Not a deal breaker though. Overall I have greatly enjoyed the Playstation 4. It's fun, powerful and sleek. Definitely happy that I purchased it!
