Sony loses to Microsoft due to no 4K blu-ray playe

Sony has the rights to Blu-Ray but they didn't include the hardware in this expensive machine. There is really no reason to upgrade. Overall PS4 is a great system, but I think It would be better to get the Slim version because there is no 4K bluray player in this.

I bought this in hopes of playing two players with my bf. It was clear that was not possible unless I had an online account. I realized that I am not a gamer and returned this PS4. I shouldn't have to pay to play against the person sitting 3ft from me.

Bought this for my 16 yr old grandson. He would be on this thing 24/7 if he could. Was grateful that I bought the PS4 PRO. He has had no problems with the console. Watches TV through it also.

This was a joke of a purchase. I returned it the next day. Games do not look or perform any better on this so called PRO system. Just Sony at it again with another cash grab. Wait and buy the Xbox Project Scorpio.

PS4 Pro is coming in at launch PS4 price, and packing in an upgraded GPU, upclocked CPU, larger HDD, and some nice software enhancements that make a comparable PC build push above its weight. PS4 is really not powerful enough on paper to do true native 4K for big games, and is using software tricks and algorithms to get there. If you've seen it in person, wow, I don't think the average gamer would tell the difference, and you most certainly won't if you are playing on 1080p displays. On top of that, less graphically intensive games like Rez or TLOU:R will support 4K in Native. Digital Foundry does a good job highlighting how close Sony has come to 4K and how hard it is to tell the difference. Really impressive they were able to get this into a $400 box. If you have a PS4, I'd say, Pro is kinda a no-brainer upgrade. Its a beefier PS4, that will make your games look/run better, your PSVR games look/run better, and if you get a 4K set, make them look MUCH better. I haven't bought a Blu-ray in, 5-7 years, (Avatar was my last one) and regular Blu-ray playback suits me just fine, I think people online giving bad reviews over a non UBR-player are being extremely disingenuous. What Sony has done here, for $400, is really incredible value.

I pre-ordered this after reading many reviews on the new 4K upgrades to match my HDR TV. But wait... No 4K DVD Support. Paperweight if you ask me. Though I still won't buy an X-Box...

Nothing justifies the extra 100 bucks difference. It does not play true 4K, just some enhanced 1080p graphics. Save yourself the time and money and get a pc with true 4K graphics.

    For The Players!

PS4 Pro is a gaming console. There are countless reviews going around and not giving the PS4 Pro credit what it can do all at an affordable price point $399. PS4 Pro can play your games in higher resolutions with HDR support and better frame rates (such as 4k and 60fps) if they are supported by the developer. YOU, as the gamer, can than determine how you want to play your games and which experience would be ideal for you. Although PS4 Pro does not have a UHD Blu-Ray Drive, it can still stream and auto upscale into 4k resolution and still have HDR support for you games. Not adding the UHD Blu-Ray drive into the PS4 Pro allows Sony to market the PS4 Pro at $399. Compared to any other console right now the PS4 Pro is the most powerful console yet. Compared to Xbox Scorpio (which is still in development) PS4 Pro is already allowing 4k gaming. Although Microsoft has stated that the Scorpio will have 6TFs of GPU, Octa Core Processing, and 8GBs, its all comes done to the architecture of the console and while the current gen PS4 has slightly less power than the Xbox One, it has better performance than the Xbox One. So who's to say that the Scorpio will completely out class PS4 Pro? PS4 Pro may offer better performance than Scorpio, who knows. My advice to you would be, if you are a true gamer and you have a console for gaming, interacting with your friends, and want to get the most out of your HD or UHD display than PS4 Pro may just be what you're looking for.
