Works great, but wish it were a little smaller.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to move up to the next generation, after owning a PS3 and PS4. So far, all of my PS4 games seem to work just fine with it. The new controller capabilities are pretty neat, though it seems to need charging more often. The HDMI connection works fine (I don't even have 4K yet) through a ZettaGuard 5x1 HDMI switch and my Denon receiver to my TV purchased in 2019. I just wish the PS5 was not quite so big.

Meh
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a giant pain to get your hands on one of these. There should be a better system of how Best Buy releases them. I’m not terribly impressed with the PS5 versus my PS4. to be honest same thing just new. This system is huge and very heavy. I enjoy the details on the controller though. Is it worth it? Not sure. With the difficulty of getting a PS5, doesn’t seem like it’s too necessary because most people will stick with a ps4.

PS Fivetastix!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After playing through Miles Morales, I must say the PS5 is fantastic. I think I the killer feature in this generation is the absurdly fast load times. They are next to nothing compared to last gen hardware. The other big improvement is the controller. I’ve never been a huge fan of Sony’s layout and design, and preferred Microsoft’s take more. However this time I’m loving how the new controller fits in my hand. If you can snag one of these consoles don’t hesitate.

Huge step up from last gen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great step from the ps4. Ray tracing/ 60+fps for $500 is a huge improvement for consoles. I have pc but purchases this for mainly PS exclusives. Goes great with a high refresh rate tv. Not a huge fan of the design but i dont look at the console while playing anyways. Loading time is instant and the new dualsense controller is unlike anything else on the market. If you can find one, its worth the hype

System software needs serious work
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bad Crashes in games like Miles Morales UI is worse than the PS4 External storage for PS4 games is very buggy It's big and ugly Limited storage space Good The games look great The controller feels great The PS5 needs a lot of work to live up to the PS4.

For the money, you can’t beat it.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing console. Ghost of Tsushima is beautiful. I also have an RTX 3090FE, this is no where near as powerful, and neither is the new Xbox. Don’t be deceived, but understand what this truly is. It is a true generational leap from last gen consoles. It is a wonderful gaming experience. The new controller feels great. The PS5 is huge, but it is not an eyesore. When I want to play an exclusive or game from the couch, it fills that role beautifully.

All I've been waiting for
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an excellent machine. It is big, but I was able to fit it in my furniture when I put it horizontally. Do look at the manual to understand how to put the base properly, as it can be a little tricky; and if you lie the machine horizontally make sure that the base is properly adjusted since it doesn't use the screw, if you move the machine it can come. The control is great, although it is a bit heavier than before but I found that comfortable to the grasp.

PS5
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The UI is not as friendly as the PS4. The controller takes some getting used to especially when it comes to voice chat which now comes through the controller. (Hopefully this will change cause it's barely audible) And finally background themes are gone for advertising. All that being said, it was still worth the wait, price and trouble of getting it. The graphics are amazing. The improvement on load times alone is worth it. Would go through it all again.

So worth it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The process for purchasing shouldn’t be so difficult but finally snagging one felt great. The UI is so gorgeous and definitely feels more updated than the PS4. It’s much larger but I like the option to put it horizontally or vertically depending on your space. The controllers feel like a dream, even if you have small hands like me :) very excited to see what games will look like on it as more and more PS5 exclusives come out!

Its cool
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Husband loves it. Suprised him woth it for christmas and he loves it. I have not touched it so I am basing this review on his thoughts. Graphics are amazing, speed is amazing, wish it was black but its whatever. The download speed seems extremely fast compared to the ps4 pro. Its a good purchase. It is pricey but I guess that is what we do when we have hobbies. This is his hobbie so it was worth the price amd the happiness it brought him.

The PS5 is for everyone, not just Sony fans
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to get used to physical design and there’s less account customization than the PS4 but overall this is amazing console and a worthy successor. The graphics are stellar. The new interface/Home Screen is simple but effective. The new dual sense controller is very innovative and I can’t wait to see its future in gaming. And last but not least the download speeds shook me with how fast they are; no more waiting all day to install a game or update.

One Happy Man
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, apologies to my fellow journeymen who are searching high and low. Keep trying... Best Buy seemed to be better planned with separated waves, so if you miss it the first go, wait and try again within the same hour or so (and beyond). P.s. use an app that alerts you of stock. Anyways... It's way bigger than I expected haha Be ready to find some a little extra space (bigger than your Ps4s). Transfer from PS4 is smooth and easy - just need to have wifi / lan ready. Had to do some extra research to find a monitor that would allow me to take advantage of the 120fps and the fake 4k 60hz. I hope they come up with the 1440p update so I can take advantage of the 1440p 120hz like the XBox. According to news the Sony dude said they would consider updating if there's enough interest from their customers (so make sure to find ways to let Sony know). Anyways, I opted for the 1440p 120hz monitor (won't say the brand) but let's just say it will be a mid range investment and eventually when our TV needs an upgrade I'll look at the LG CX or perhaps if the Sony X900s keep their promise with their VRR tech jump there. I've played through all my Ps4 games and seeing the difference. There's a little bit of fiddling to do with my new monitor at the 120fps and the different screen settings. Still unsure if it's more adjusting to do or if it's the monitor's capacity. Either way, at 120fps 1080 feels smooth i.e. Destiny 2. Look forward to trying COD and other 120fps games. That is all. I'm still weighing if my monitor (LG 27GN800-b) is worth keeping or changing. It's my first time having a 144hz gaming monitor I don't know how to set it up properly and what to expect so hard to say. Anyone else tried the LG 27GN800-b pair?
