This is the best console. Although I don't particularly care for the design, it still fits nicely on a shelf. It boots quickly, can hold a lot of the games I play. The monthly/annual service is comparable to the competition. Works great as a media player. (Switch is last generation).

I'm very happy with the PS5. The DualSense is, surprisingly, one of my favorite new features on the next gen console. The SSD is super fast and I can't begin to explain how much of a difference it makes. The addition of a 4K Bluray player is a welcomed, most needed one and being backwards compatible with the PS4 means that I have plenty of games to play while I wait for more next gen games to come out. Now the not so good. The PS5 is HUGE and it definitely will not fit in most conventional console spaces, at least not standing. There aren't many streaming apps available at launch which is disappointing, but this will surely change over the next year or so. The PS5 does not support Dolby Vision or HDR10+, which is a big disappointment for me. I hope Dolby Vision support is added in a future update.

Fast boot up time, fast load times, quiet fan and incredible experience with the dual sense controller. Much higher quality hardware materials and UI experience compared to the PS4 Pro. Astros Playroom will definitely show off the capabilities of the control and it's fun! Very happy with the PS5 and cannot wait for the next wave of games to come.

PS5 is worth every penny. I am a frequent PC gamer, but the console has enough features to get me to purchase this. Not only the console exclusives are some of the best (FF, God of war, last of us, horizon zero dawn , etc but the haptic feedback and controller are amazing. Definitely a staple of an gamer's household.

I have been a part of Playstation family since I was a little kid. I’ve had every console. This has been my favorite, and absolutely blew my mind from the start. They have truly made a magnificent machine with a nostalgic feel. Best Buy had me checked out with a quality item in a jiffy. 10/10

It's amazing! Much faster at everything than the PS4. They improved on the Dualshock 4 with the Dualsense in every way. It's more comfortable and the features such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are gamechangers. The UHD 4k Blu-Ray player is as fantastic as it is quiet, and it's really quiet. Get one of these bad boys as soon as you can!

Love this PS5. It was hard to get - had to use one of those YouTube channels that alerted you once stock dropped. When I went to pick it up at my local BB I felt like a rock star - the guys all smiling at me and telling me how lucky I was to score one. I have not been disappointed with the performance either. So far the only "PS5" game I've played is Astro's Playroom and the updated Borderlands 3, but I've also played many PS4 games with no issues and MUCH faster load times (ex: Destiny 2, Persona 5, Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy XV, Gran Turismo Sport). Graphics are smooth, frame rate is solid. No issues with the PS5 or DS5 so far. I've played games and movies from disc with no issues. I also use an external 250 GB WD SSD drive and that works fine as well. There is a highspeed USB data port that I use to connect the SSD and it's much faster to load games vs the standard USB slot on the old PS4. If you're looking for a worthwhile upgrade, go for it. If you want an enormous PS5 specific game selection, wait a while and keep playing on the PS4. Eventually these will be on store shelves and you won't have to play the Internet lottery to get one.

Out of the box this thing looks out of this world. It performs as described, while playing spiderman miles morales the system did have a hard crash. First the game froze, then made a horrible noise and shut off and would not come back on until unplugged and reconnected. Haven't played smm since. So far no issues. This console feels next gen.

Finally able to get my hands on one after failing to get one for my kids for Christmas. It's huge console, just big enough to contain all the goodness! Amazing fluid graphics, easy to set up and play, super responsive controller - you'll wonder how you got along without it all before. And the new Spider-Man game looks phenomenal on it!

The ps5 is a great system not only for new games but for all your older games as well. With the new technology load times are decreased making playing old games a better experience. The new controller also adds extra immersion while you’re playing games as well. The console is on the larger size but it allows it to be more quiet unlike the ps4.

The one single improvement I would say makes the PS5 worth it is not the graphics - although, I'm sure those will come to the forefront more as new games are produced that take advantage of the new power it has - but the load times. Seriously, going back to my PS4 pro, even with an upgraded SSHD, is night and day. Complex games load in seconds, not minutes.. The frustration when restarting a game or loading a level - it's nonexistent with the PS5. I do hope the NVMe drives get approved by Sony to expand storage, as the 865gb is a little tight - but man, when things are loaded locally, the storage is lightning fast, and that's a huge improvement. PS4 backwards compatibility is also a huge relief; Xbox does do that better, but at least its a thing now - something we haven't seen since the PS2 really, as later PS3s got rid of backwards compatibility by the time you really wanted to buy the console. Feels solidly built, and is quiet. I'm sure we'll get a slim version sooner rather than later, as this thing is huge - but at least it's not huge with jet-engine fans. The stand is super fiddly, that's the only reason I take the quality down a notch. That really, really could have been done better.

A very impressive, if incomplete, console.

Console features/impressions: SSD and custom I/O solution- Very impressive. Last gen games play and load much quicker, while current gen or upgraded games play very smoothly with little to no visible loading. This completely changes the experience of some games, with some larger slower games becoming a much faster, shorter, more streamlined experience. Download and install times are also relatively quick. 4K drive- Having used other 4K drives with long buffer times and fiddly interfaces, this one is enormously better. It plays the discs like a normal Bluray. The initial spin-up of the disc is oddly loud, but it quiets down quickly. Console noise/heat level- It is much quieter/cooler than the PS4. No jet engine noises and no hair dryer heat. Tempest audio- This was a big selling point for me. The console has much better audio processing than the PS4 for all audio content. Games with enhancements for tempest audio have much more impressive use of soundstage and imaging on headphones. The quality of your headphones will factor in to how much benefit you get out of this, but there is an audible improvement on any pair. Even audio from sources without enhancement sounds better than on PS4. The controllers even seem to have a little more oomph to their power output through the headphone jack. I have been using Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R headphones with each console and notice that the PS5 seems to drive them more effectively. Media Player: There is currently no dedicated media player. While it is possible to play a video or audio file through the gallery, there is little support for doing so. There is no system for using subtitles on video files or managing/browsing audio/pictures. For a console with such excellent capabilities regarding audio and video, this seems like a glaring omission. Hopefully Sony will include a proper media player in a coming update. Until then, use a PC, PS4, or other console for your media player needs. CD player- Much like the PS4, the PS5 can't play CDs. Even if you have a pile of Sony BluSpec CDs, you will need to play them on your PS3 or another system. HDMI 2.1- The console currently has partial support for the features associated with HDMI 2.1. The features not fully implemented pertain to VRR and ALLM. It seems that there is some sort of unusual system being used to make this work between some Sony TVs and the PS5, but broader implementation for other displays will come via update some time later. Oddly the Sony TVs in question are also awaiting an update for broader support for the features on other consoles/systems. Stability- The system is generally stable, though it has notable hiccups in some instances. I had issues with crashes on several PS4 games. The system recovered quickly, but, in one instance, lost my save file for a game, forcing me to restart from the beginning. PS5 games and upgrades were much more stable, with any issues being specific to a game, rather than the console. I am sure there will be many of the "improves system performance" updates to remedy issues over time. Controller- Build- The controller is solid and well built without being exceptionally heavy. The surface is nicely textured for better grip. The controls are well placed and responsive. Connection- The wireless connectivity is much better than the PS4's in every respect. Better distance, latency, accuracy, detection, etc. Haptics- The haptics are a neat, and very nicely implemented gimmick. Ultimately, immersion depends on your ability to pay attention to the game in front of you, rather than your hands or the equipment and controls that separate you from the content, so rumble and haptics seem kind of silly. Variable resistance triggers- The unsung heroes of the new controller. Anything that can add more control input from the player without complicating control schemes is truly amazing. Having different degrees of input achieve different effects in a game is a great way to pack more player control into the same number of buttons/triggers. Astrobot- This game is included with the system. It is the real reason to buy the console. It is the best first experience you could possibly have with a console. After fighting for ages to get the system and staying up till ridiculous hours to compete against the bots on every possible retail site, it is easy to feel bitter and jaded about the whole experience. This game lets you see just how much the bots love their Playstations as they scour their world for every last shred of merchandise, even against incredible odds. It really makes you feel impressive to be right there with the bots, with the same system in your hands. (I'm pretty sure the irony was accidental, but it really is a great intro to the console.) Conclusion- Worth getting as a new console or a follow up for PS4. Don't panic if you haven't gotten it yet. It is still severely in need of updates and there aren't really any impressive games yet other than the (awesome) one that comes free on the console. There is a nice list of games coming out throughout the year though, so it already seems like a much better generation than the PS4 was for me.

The PlayStation 5 overall is a very neat video game system. It has really nice specs that allow for nice graphics and high resolutions and framerates. Games load very fast with its NVME SSD as well. Finding one in stock at MSRP is ridiculously difficult and took me an entire of looking to finally get one.

So far so good. I have been enjoying the faster load times for the backwards compatible PS4 games as well as the enhanced visuals. The design of the PS5 screams look at me I’m new. But I like different and new. I haven’t experienced any strange noises like others have, so I’m happy about that. The controller is a wonderful step up for next gen.
