Worth it in every possible way if you loved PS4

No issues with the actual console (picked mine up without a hitch early on launch day) and no serious complaints whatsoever. Yes it is quite a large console, but I for one love the look of it; it’s the centerpiece of my home entertainment center. Load times are practically nonexistent, although they have slightly resurfaced with the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077, but that won’t be an issue once the free upgrade to next generation consoles is released. Anyway, the dualsense is truly a wonder—the actuators give the controller a phenomenal tactile feel (just play Astro’s Playroom, even just for a minute to get a sense of what the dual sense is capable of) that creates some mind blowing sensations (the controllers are updated frequently though, so if you use a sold separately charging station most of the time, make sure to plug the controller in to the front or back from time to time to update it when necessary). Last, and this is very important—PLEASE USE AN ETHERNET TO TRANSFER YOUR PS4 DATA/GAMES TO YOUR NEW PS5 AND TO REDOWNLOAD DIGITAL GAMES YOU HAVE OR STREAM FALLOUT NEW VEGAS ON PS NOW. I never used an Ethernet before until my ps5 told me it would take 22 hours to transfer 200 some gbs of data over my purportedly 300 mbps download speed internet. So I went to Best Buy and bought a 25’ CAT 6 maybe? or something Ethernet cord for like twenty some bucks and it’s completely changed how I interact with video games in a profound way bc now I can delete and redownload without worrying about it taking hours (PS: I still have rest mode completely disabled on my ps5. Never had an issue with it but it has caused problems for others and I don’t wanna tempt ol’ fate. Anyway, the PS4 transfer went from a 22 hour download to a 61 minute or so download after setting up a LAN connection with my wifi router. My mbps went from high 2’s and low 3’s mbps to a steady and consistent 200+. Although unlikely lol, I hope this answers even one single question that even one single person may be having. Hope everyone stays safe, and thank you Best Buy for letting me attempt to flex my withered writing muscles (moved on to the editing side; not easy to hack it as a writer!) Happy holidays y’all!

So happy with this Playstation update. Is it absolutely necessary if you still have a PS4? I would say not yet, especially since you need an 8k TV to see it in full effect which isn’t really a thing yet as most people still have 4K. I am enjoying the new controller more than anything, love the haptic feedback and the built in mic. Also, very happy with the speediness of games loading and apps opening/closing. Definitely still very buggy though but looking forward to future updates that will fix them. Overall a beast of a machine.

By far the most powerful console. Sleek design, quiet fans and beautiful design. Loads all games quickly and displays them wonderfully.

Wow. Me personally I prefer consoles when it comes to gaming, and the PS5 did not disappoint. I recommend everyone that has the opportunity to purchase one to take the time to play Astro's Playroom, it shows you how the PS5 works and it features in a very entertaining way. Then make yourself a favor and install an M.2 SSD because PS5 games take a lot of space, and while you are at it plug in an external HDD so you can install and play all your digital PS4 games.

No other way to put it, this thing is BIG. I also don’t care for the white system either, it gets dirty quickly. My Xbox 360 was gross looking after a few years and I imagine this will be the same. The system is insanely fast compared to the PS4. Load times are minimal. Hard to to judge the games based on the limited launch titles, but Spiderman is amazing!

It’s a solid console with a lot of potential, but right now there’s pretty much just Demon Souls and Spider-Man. Also, Cyberpunk runs fine on it. New controller is REALLY nice, and Astro’s Playroom does a great job showing off the new features. Runs PS4 games a little better than the PS4-Pro, but it’s nothing crazy. Can’t say much on the load times, as I’ve had an SSD in the PS4-Pro forever, but I’m sure it’d be a huge difference coming from the old HDD. Grab one if you can, but it’s definitely NOT worth paying a scalper.

I was finally fortunate enough to get one of these in my car and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to spend $500! Say what you will, but I love the unique spaceship design of this console! But underneath the hood, the specs for are incredible as loading times are little to none with stunning graphics and ray tracing. Also, the technology behind the controller definitely takes things to the next level! Make sure you play Astro’s Playroom as it displays the full potential of this next gen controller. I love my PS5!

Loving the use of this system so far. Quicker load times and smoother graphics. So far, I've used it to play the Astro game that was included and Planet coaster. It streams videos nicely as well. We had no issues with transferring data from our old ps4, but it did take a while. What I do like is that you can be signed into your PS account simultaneously with another system with another TV. We could not do that solely on the PS4. That is definitely a step up. PS4 games play on it fine as well. Well worth the investment!

Outside of the bulkiness in size, I am satisfied with the purchase. This thing is massive, first gen PS3 massive. The adaptive controls are a nice new feature, as well as the faster load times. I was lucky to get one of these after months of not being able to, only to hear that a new design is coming out. A great improvement from the PS4.

Probably one of the strongest system launches I can remember. Super fast SSD loads content in an instant, slick new UI makes the console “feel” like a next gen piece of hardware, and the new, vastly improved Dual Sense controller rounds out the package. The system launches with a number of solid ways to show off the new system, including the excellent pack in game, Astro’s Playroom, as well as a remade Demon’s Souls, built from the ground up for PS5, and a new friggin’ Spider-Man game! So, yeah ... the system is great!

I was lucky enough to get myself one. The lack of new PS5 titles early on is as expected. But I'm playing through FF7 Remake and it loads faster and runs smoother. Cant wait for the next gen release of it. I tried running the console on the vertical method and it just....looked too much of a conversation starter. So I installed mine down and it seems to perform just as well so dont feel pressured to have yours sitting vertical. Manual states that temps should not be altered and it supports either way.

I have been waiting to get a PS5 for a long time after trading in my PS4 for Xbox 1 X. The wait is over. And I am not disappointed. Backward combability is amazing. I can play really much all my PS4 games on this bad boy. The graphics are great! I can see all the little details on Spiderman and the Last of US part II. But I am mostly impressed by the load time. I can load most of my games in less than 10 seconds! Sony has really nailed it. You can't build a gaming PC as powerful as PS5 for $500. Highly recommended it!

The console is enormous compared to other previous consoles. The controller feels good, there isn’t much difference between the PS4 & PS5 versions. It still plays PS4 games so it’s definitely worth it to wait till they are in stock on the regular. The only thing I see as upside is the load times are extremely short so keeps your play more fluent.
