Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this unit to use as a DVD/Bluray player since it’s made by Sony, and will play any brand DVD/Bluray disc. After just over the 1 year warranty, I bought a few games for it, and they kept freezing (DVD’s played just fine, just wouldn’t allow games to be played.) Found out that it was a common issue when these particular units were built, but no recalls and just out of the 1 year warranty. Disappointing that Sony wouldn’t do anything about their known power pack issue. Glad they have fixed the power pack issue in their newer units, but not happy that they didn’t stand behind their product. I now have a new model that works as designed, and this original one that I just use as a DVD/Bluray player.

Performance superb. But ergonomics suspect

However, i have a significant complaint...The controller is uncomfortable. SONY seemed more concerned with making it look cool, then with making it fit the hands comfortably. The molded black and white plastic pieces of the controller dont fit flush and smooth. Instead there are noticeable ridges that irritate my hands over time. PS4 never had this issue. Sony clearly wanted an innovative design, but they sacrificed user comfort to be cool looking. That is significantly disappointing. The performance of the console is great, so ill live with the imperfections of the controller. But, I'd like to see a new, ergonomic controller offered as an alternative to the bundled version.
