A fantastic console, with a couple downsides
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My opinion? A monster of a console and great performance for the price, HOWEVER, it may not be for everyone! Keep in mind, I upgraded from a PS4 Pro, not a PS5, so I can’t comment on the difference between the two. To give some background, I had originally intended to purchase a base PS5 but decided to wait once I heard that this was coming out. I’m also playing this on a 77-inch OLED, so I wanted to make sure that whatever I bought next made the most out of the display. Long story short, I’m glad I decided to purchase this instead. The graphics are gorgeous, and the load times are short. The new interface did take some time getting used to, but it’s not difficult once you get used to it. Obviously, it’s a big upgrade from the PS4 Pro, as one would expect. It’s definitely a larger console though, so keep that in mind if space is tight. When it comes to gripes about performance or display, I really have none. I’m currently playing Resident Evil 8 on it, and it looks fantastic! As an added perk, basically all the PS4 games I own (except the VR ones) are compatible, so I can go back and enjoy them if I want without having to switch consoles! Even better, many of them come with either a free or a very cheap upgrade to the PS5 version so long as you have the discs, which I do. I now have PS5 versions of Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima for free thanks to this! Now, to address the one MAJOR con: as others have stated, there is no disc drive. I’m well aware this is not just a Sony thing, and most companies/studios are trying to phase out physical media altogether (yay corporate greed!). I refuse to be roped into digital-only, so I was willing to shell out the extra money to buy a disc drive, however many people may not be, especially when the base price is already so expensive. However, like I said, the upside was that purchasing the disc drive gave me access to several free PS5 upgrades. If you don’t care about having games on physical, then it’s not a big deal. The other minor downside is that 1TB may not be enough considering how huge games are now. In summation, I would say if you are upgrading from a PS4, have a display that will make the most of the hardware, and if the high price doesn’t deter you, then YES, this console is absolutely worth it. If you already have a PS5, then weigh your options and decide whether the upgrade is really worth it, especially considering the lack of a disc drive.

The best way to experience PS5 games
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS5 Pro does exactly what it advertises to do - it plays the same games but better. How much is that worth to you? I think most people would say "not $700 plus tax plus a disc drive". That's fair. But for people who live and breathe gaming like me, it's worth every penny to have the best experience possible. If your biggest and most important hobby is gaming then this console is for you. Games that don't advertise pro patches can be surprisingly better for one reason - unlocked frame rates lock into a good fps. I've played Trails through Daybreak, the most random title, and it had fps drops. I thought there would be no difference at all, but it was noticeably locked to 60fps on the pro. Ditto for Metaphor Refantazio, or I hear, for Elden Ring. Alan Wake 2 with Ray tracing is so good that I can't even imagine playing it without. Your flashlight, which is ever present for the entire game, casting light and shadows without Ray tracing would be sad in comparison. There is a caveat about shimmering in this game - it can be noticable. But I feel the gains outweigh the shimmering. Which you can reduce by turning motion blur off. The extra storage is also a neat little bonus. I think most people that needed it already expanded their PS5, but if you were holding out then it's a good bonus. All in all, there's a lot of games I want to play that have a pro patch. And many games out there with unstable frame rates. I'm looking forward to Star Wars Outlaws, Silent Hill 2, immediately. If you game on PS5 and it's your life, this is the way to have the best experience possible.

PS5 Pro
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation 5 Pro elevates gaming with enhanced performance and graphical fidelity, offering up to 45% better performance than the standard PS5. Featuring 2TB of storage, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for near-native 4K visuals, it caters to gamers seeking top-tier experiences. Compact and stylish, it lacks a built-in disc drive, requiring an external one for physical games. Priced at $699, it’s a premium choice best suited for enthusiasts. While casual gamers may find the upgrades less essential, the PS5 Pro stands out as a strong alternative to high-end gaming PCs.

PlayStation 5 Pro — A Worthy Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending quality time with the PS5 Pro, I can confidently say this machine is a serious step up — especially if you have the right setup to take advantage of it. Paired with an OLED TV, the visual experience is nothing short of stunning. Games look absolutely phenomenal, with the console’s enhanced hardware pushing image quality to levels the base PS5 simply can’t match. What really impressed me was Sony’s PSSR upscaling technology — even going back to older titles, the graphical and performance improvements are genuinely noticeable. It breathes new life into games you’ve already played. The extra storage is a game-changer. One of my biggest frustrations with the base PS5 was constantly having to uninstall games just to make room for new ones. That juggling act is essentially gone with the Pro, and it’s a quality-of-life improvement I didn’t realize I needed so badly until now. I’d also like to address the noise complaints floating around online — at least in a living room environment, this console runs whisper quiet. I genuinely cannot hear it during gameplay, so that concern hasn’t been an issue for me at all. The one drawback worth mentioning is the lack of a disc drive. It’s a bit of a shame for a premium-priced console, but given that my library has shifted almost entirely to digital at this point, it hasn’t impacted my experience in any meaningful way. Just something to keep in mind if you still have a large physical collection. Overall, the PS5 Pro delivers on its promises. If you’re a dedicated PlayStation gamer with a high-quality display, this upgrade is absolutely worth it.

My review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ps5 pro is sleek and smaller than the original ps5 even with an attached disk drive. Hooked to a tv that can handle 120hz , VRR and more you get the most benefit for your games from ps4 to ps5 and pro enhanced. if you do not have an upgraded tv that can handle the benefits of the PS5 pro then stick with the standard ps5 or ps5 slim. upgraded memory , visuals, frame rates and ray tracing is what you get from the pro for some games. makes some ps4 games run better as well

A Pro Experience
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The transfer process from Ps5 to the Pro was streamlined. I enjoy the fidelity the hardware gives currently available software. It’s nice to be able to enjoy ray tracing and while also enjoying stable frame rates. Keep in mind you will want to ensure your display uses the same output standards that the pro uses so you can maximize your enjoyment.

PS5 Pro Review
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent system. Worth the price you pay for the extra features. Down side is not having a disk drive but that isn’t an issue for me. System also doesn’t come with a stand (sold separately) but it does stand on its own. System makes almost no noise. You can lay the system down after inserting the two pieces it comes with. Performance wise, this is the best for console. Would highly recommend!

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS5 Pro storms into living rooms with jaw‑dropping 4K/8K visuals, silky‑smooth frame rates, and AI‑powered upscaling that takes ray tracing to another level. With its massive 2 TB SSD and beefed‑up GPU, load times vanish and games like Spider‑Man 2 pop like never before. Sure, it’s pricey and disc‑free, but for hardcore gamers craving uncompromised performance, this console is the ultimate flex. Want a sharper image on a 4K TV, 120 Hz gameplay, and enough storage to never delete another game? Welcome to your dream rig.

Next-Level Gaming – The PS5 Pro Delivers!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation 5 Pro is everything I hoped for and more. The graphics are insanely sharp—ray tracing, 4K, buttery-smooth frame rates—it’s like playing inside a blockbuster movie. Load times are almost nonexistent thanks to the ultra-fast SSD, and the new white design looks sleek and futuristic in my setup. The dual cooling system runs quietly even during intense sessions. Whether I’m diving into story-driven games or competitive online matches, this console delivers top-tier performance without compromise. If you want the best of next-gen gaming, the PS5 Pro is the way to go!

Beautiful but incomplete...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to give this 5 stars because it's a noticeable upgrade from the Base model, however I have to be petty and complain about the lack of a disc drive OR a stand. It just seems ridiculous to require additional purchases for me to keep playing what I already own (physical games). And there's a stand IN the photos... all the marketing for the PS5 shows them placed vertically and yet... no stand. Other than those grievances... the console is great, it's fast, it's big, it's everything you want the modern console to be. Stop raising the price and deliberately not including parts. It's a Big Mac combo without fries and coke...

A Stepping Stone for the Next Generation
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s clear Sony is laying the foundation for whatever the principles and philosophy of PlayStation 6 will be with the PS5 Pro. PSSR, their up-scaling, AI-machine learning proprietary design, allows the system to enhance games and do much of the heavy lifting without needing developers to implement things in a way that costs time and money. The additional TB of storage capacity over the regular PS5 is a nice addition that I think is overlooked as well. The system is shockingly small and rather quiet for a machine that is so powerful and capable of extraordinary output. I could be playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer for hours and the PS5 Pro would remain as quiet as it was when I turned it on for the day. The design of the system is sleek and fits nicely with any console entertainment setup you might have.

PS5 Pro Enhances Your PS5 Games and Performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned a PS5 since its launch, I am very pleased with the PS5 Pro. With many games I own, the Pro boosts them to a better performing version compared to base PS5. In addition, several games have Pro Enhanced patches that substantially improve the framerate, the resolution, or add features like real-time lighting. If you only have a digital game library, the Pro has 1 TB more of SSD storage compared to the base PS5. Typically, 1 TB of expansion storage costs about $100-$110 so that is one reason the system sells for $699.99. By comparison, a slim PS5 digital costs $449.99 but has 1TB of storage. If you need a disc drive to play games you own on PS5 or want to use your PS5 as a Blu-ray DVD player (does not play music CDs), you will have to buy a $79.99 external drive (raising the price to $779.98). Overall, it is a bit of a steep asking price for a console, but it absolutely is a much bigger upgrade compared to the one observed with PS4 Pro. Thus far, games like Horizon Forbidden West, Assassins Creed Shadows, Space Marine 2, Gran Turismo 7, Jedi Survivor, and Star Wars:Outlaws have seen significant improvements on Pro. In addition, games like Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Doom The Dark Ages, and Forza Horizon 5 see some minor improvements in resolution and performance. Games like Doom Eternal and Armored Core 6 see some nice boosts in resolution and performance without a patch. I highly recommend looking at the website resetera.com for a full list of Enhanced and Boosted games

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Optimal Display: Many reviewers note that a quality display makes a significant difference. Consider upgrading to an OLED TV or a high-refresh-rate gaming monitor to take full advantage of the PS5's graphical capabilities and high frame rates. Audio Upgrade: Enhance immersion with a quality headset like the official PULSE Elite wireless headset or a robust sound system. 3D audio is a core PS5 feature, and the right audio equipment brings it to life. Expanded Storage: The internal storage can fill up quickly. An internal NVMe SSD expansion is a neat solution for storing and playing PS5 games directly, while an external SSD can be used for PS4 titles.

Absolutely Outstanding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS5 Pro is everything I hoped for and more. From the moment I powered it on, the performance difference was clear games load insanely fast, visuals are incredibly sharp, and frame rates are buttery smooth. The enhanced graphics make supported games look stunning, with richer details, improved lighting, and ultra-smooth gameplay. The console runs quietly even during long gaming sessions, and the DualSense controller truly elevates immersion with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Whether you’re into competitive gaming or cinematic single-player experiences, the PS5 Pro handles everything flawlessly. If you want the best possible console gaming experience right now, the PS5 Pro is 100% worth it. Highly recommended!

Returning fan, glad to be back
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am returned from xbox! I've had every Playstation since original, but I strayed for series x. Game pass had me. But PS plus is vastly improved and is now half the price of gamepass. On top of that, the pro's graphics are gorgeous, the user interface is more versatile, and 2tb of storage is included. Playstation won me back with this one.
