  • Buyer Beware: Open Box Not Worth the Hassle

    Purchased an “excellent condition” Playstation 5 Spiderman Bundle. Box was missing the cord that attaches the controller to the console AND the redemption code for the Spiderman game was activated by the previous owner of fhe console so the product description for our order that reads “download included” is false. We called Best Buy for assistance with these matters. In order to get the cord, we would have to return the entire package. We were also told by the Best Buy agent that we need to call Sony to get a new redemption code-Sony “should” rectify the situation. Sony is currently closed for the holidays so there will be no Playststion fun this morning. What a disappointment! If Best Buy had been transparent about the download to begin with (whoever boxed the return could see the redemption code had been revealed and should’ve taken the step to include a new code as advertised), at least we could’ve gone into this console purchase ready to buy the game for Christmas morning. The $20 savings on an open box was not equivalent to having a missing cord and no Spiderman game download. Side note: when calling customer service, be prepared to have your call transferred multiple times and having to repeat your full name, phone number, and email for verification.
