Customers are saying
Customers love the PlayStation Classic Console's affordable price and the inclusion of two controllers, finding it easy to use and a nostalgic trip down memory lane. However, many are disappointed with the limited game selection and some have noted issues with the emulation quality. The compact size is also a frequently praised feature.

Awesome if you hack this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The build quality is great. You get two controllers. The controllers feel just like the original non Dualshock controllers. If Sony wouldn’t have loaded the European 50hz pal roms on this device it would have gotten a 5 star review. Also would have been cool if they gave us scanline options. There are at least three simple ways to hack this device to access the emulator menu and even add your own games. I don’t know if the average user is up for this but if you do all of these shortcomings go away.

Great if on clearance
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item was not worth the initial 100 dollars but for 20 you cant go wrong. There is an easy mod that will allow you to add extra games. It's a fun little DIY project for cheap.

Song Classic Console
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far I'm having fun playing the games built in, definitely takes me back when it was released especially because it hase a few titles I bought when they came out in the late 90's, got it for a great price and couldn't be happier.

could have been better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been stoked recently at the release of these classic systems. when the PS1 was announced, I got excited. unfortunately, when the game list came out, it became apparent that this wasn't the best it could be. worth it if it's on sale.

Out of the box, its crap, but mod it, its awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, its crap, but mod it, its awesome! You can play just about any playstation 1 game after you mod it. Also you can hook up DS4 controllers via USB to get Joysticks. Worth it for the cheap price it does for now!

I like the nostalgic look of the console but....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony didn't make a great classic console with the game lineup to start. The games that are on the console won't even play properly unless You attempt to reconfigure settings which You maybe able to do after wstching a YouTube video. Overall this could have been a huge hit for PlayStation fans and bring new customers. Sony should revamp this and give the consumers the games on a machine that will play them. The Price Point was initially $99 so that was another let down for many people.

Not as cool as other Mini Systems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This makes an attempt to allow gamers to relive the classic PS1, unfortunately it falls short with a strange game line up, and subpar emulation. Most of the games included are from the PAL territory and will run 20% slower than the USA versions that they should of used. Sony moves forward and not backwards, therefore do not care about their legacy. The mediocrity of this system is proof of that.

Not bad for what it is
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a nostalgia piece, it serves it's purpose. If you're looking for something more than a showpiece, we've clearly reached the limit of what cheap emulation devices can do. It's perfectly functional but does not run the more advanced games at a very playable frame rate. If you want a cheap way to legally own a few old PS games to play for a few minutes before turning it into a decoration, it's fine. If you're looking to really replay some old Playstation games, there are better options.

Awesome Mini Console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After all the negative videos on YouTube spouting awful emulation and game selection I was nicely surprised. First of all I think it's a great game list - a nice mix of blockbusters and gems that may have passed you by back in the day. I'd never played Intelligent Qube before and now I'm addicted! I would replace Rainbow Six with something decent in a perfect world, however. Emulation is also excellent for the most part - the only game with noticeable issues so far is Ridge Racer - it turns on the tunnel audio reverb at random times - it's really quite annoying. There are also framerate issues but overall it's still a smooth, very playable experience.

It pains me to admit it...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so looking forward to the release of the PlayStation Classic that, against my better judgement (I hardly do pre-orders) I ordered as soon as it was available. Then, the leaked and released information came out and I started to worry. However, I continued to have faith that Sony would deliver a gaming experience I was hoping for. Well, the day came and I sadly have to admit that the rumors and reports were true. This is one of the poorest conceptions that Sony has ever implemented. Upon opening the box, the "look" of the console is cute and gives it a "collector's items" sort of feel, which is nice. However, the feeling soon wears out as I noticed that it did not come with a power pack. Just a micro-USB cable and the HDMI cable. So I ended up using a spare phone charger (make sure it is the right voltage). I fired up the console hoping to see a great UI. Unfortunately, it is bare and lackluster. There are no bells or whistles. There are few options (no catscan lines or resolutions, or disk speed, etc.) OK... At least I have the games. I was then even more disappointed by the lineup. Everyone's got favorites they'd like to see, but mostly everyone agrees that it was less than expected. I personally wished they'd included titles such as Parappa the Rapper, Crash Bandicoot (the original mascot!), and Spyro… Well, I immediately went to start my favorite games of the bunch -Metal Gear Solid. Oh boy, to my horror it looked terrible on my 50" 4k TV. Much blockier than I remember. Also, this game works best with vibration so using the "original controller took something away from the experience I remember... Yes, I know that the original res and polygon count was much, much lower, but there was absolutely no effort in making it any better. Even the PSP and VITA did a much better job! I even tried it on a smaller 32" 1080p screen. I then played other favorites such as Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer Type 4. Even more horrifying was that they move oh-so-slow! This is because they decided to use Europe's PAL instead of NTSC, lowering the frequency and therefore affecting the "speed" of the game. There's also no chance of updating the firmware or line up (maybe by way of USB, but that's wishful thinking) I really cannot recommend this console at $99.99 at all. If it ever goes below $30USD, maybe I would recommend it, but only as a nostalgia item. Sorry to be so tough on it, but Sony did deserve it this time...

It’s fun to be nostalgic.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product looks and feels like the original just smaller. Only thing I would change is the number of games as I wish there were more!

Not perfect, but fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's not as great as the NES and SNES mini consoles, but it's not a pile of garbage like most people are saying. If you like the selection of games, go for it. Easily worth $60+.

Nostalgic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For what it is, it’s a good buy. My only issue is the selection of games. Out all that are loaded in here, only 4 or 5 of them make it worth it. There were plenty of other ps1 games out there that could have been chosen but weren’t.

good idea
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.pretty cool, nice array of games, but could have included so many more better titles. at least Sony was wise enough to manufacture enough of these to satisfy the costumer needs.

||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $20 this mini is great, I would never have spent more than that on this but for 20 it's a great value, especially for how easily games are added to it.

Playstation basic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony PlayStation mini is a great little system with quite a few good games I wish there was more to select from. This is a good system to put in the extra bedroom. The only problem is they didn’t include a power supply.
