I have to admit that this is my first experience with an SSD in anything other than phones and tablets so I don't have much to compare it to other than spinning hd's. It works as advertised and does what I want. My new Windows 10 64 bit machine boots and shuts down in just seconds. My only complaint is with the included cloning software you download with the link provided in the package. In my case I used the automatic proportional scaling function based on the difference between the capacity of the 1TB spinner I was cloning to the 240gb SSD. It reduced the recovery partition size to the point that immediately it was giving alerts that the partition was full anytime the machine was up. At that point you're sort of in a "catch 22" because the program won't let you change the partition size without clearing the drive utilizing a command line utility within windows, booting from the original spinner after disconnecting the ssd or reassigning the boot order in bios, starting over and manually setting the partition sizes. Took a day or so of researching and reading to finally figure out how to fix it. I'd be inclined to use a different cloning program the next time.

I bought 4 of these to set up a Raid 10 configuration in a computer workstation. Installation went smooth, drives perform well. No issues, for the price I would recommend these SSD's.

Great price, and the drive works perfect. I didn't test it's speed or anything, but it certainly feels fast and obviously there is no noise compared to a spinning hard drive.

I had been meaning to upgrade the hard drive on my 8 year old PC for months, and of course I wait until it completely crashes. Decided to upgrade and use this SSD. And WOW! The difference in boot up time and overall speed is insane. Youve probably heard this before but switching to a SSD will give your PC a big boost in speed. Computer feels new and boots up in under 20 seconds running Windows 10. The hard drive itself is great, no issues and I've had it in for about a month now.

I purchased this ssd to modernize an older Macbook Pro that I'd picked up online. Excellent SSD, fast response. Replaced a 500GB HD with this 240GB SSD improving to fast boot up and browsing response. Fairly easy to install.

This drive upgrade turned a decent laptop into what feels like a totally different computer. The performance improvement was hard to believe and beyond anything I could have imagined. The included software makes cloning the existing drive an intuitive and trouble-free process. Cloned then swapped drives and booted into Windows 10 without any issues at all. Literally could not have been easier unless I had hired a young child to do the job for me. Very impressed and couldn't be happier with the end result.

a very solid budget SSD. very fast and so far reliable. SSD are the easiest upgrade to make your computer run faster and smoother.

I added this SSD as a second drive in my mother's HP PC when upgrading to Windows 10 over the OEM version of Windows 7 kept failing. (Adding as a second drive requires an additional SATA cable, not included.) I then installed Win 10 to this drive and it is now the primary boot drive. The only unexpected problem I encountered was because there is no hardware included with this drive, so I had to scrounge around for some screws to mount the drive. Otherwise, everything went quite well.

third one of these i purchased. great upgrade from a standard mechanical drive. can't beat the price/performance.

Installed on 6 Year old hp desktop and made a huge difference in start up of Windows 10 and loading Web pages. Highly recommend. Have used toshiba and Samsung ssd in past and this is just as fast for less cost.

I installed this SSD into an early 2009 iMac. The computer's motherboard can't negotiate SATA III speeds, so I am not able to test the true effectiveness of this new drive. I do notice an increase in speed, but it's only maybe a 30-40% improvement based on the old boot-up and program loading times. The boot up took around 45-50 seconds with the HDD, and now takes maybe 30-35 seconds. The program load time doesn't seem to have as noticeable of an improvement. Again, though, this is on a machine that can't utilize the full potential of the SSD. The fan may not need to come on any more in my old computer, and the energy used should also be lowered by this SSD, which is an added reason to make the switch to SSD, especially if you are nearing or are at the end of the useful life of an HDD.

Welp it's fast, works great, doesn't create heat and takes up little space... what more could you ask for?

I bought this to put in an older laptop with a standard HDD and I have to say that it made a huge difference. The speed and boot up time with this SSD was really incredible. It definitely breathed new life into an older laptop.

I bought a couple of these for renewing laptops and ps3 game systems. Have had good luck so far. They run quiet and cool. Would also like to try them in streaming home media.

This is the second SSD that I purchased from PNY. the first one was last year and what a difference on booting time and application launching yet it lagged a little on Photoshop and video apps. For my second laptop I decided to get this drive that yields faster response and I got it. Great price compared to Samsung or Sandisk, I used to have PNY CF cards for my camera and also have PNY flash drives so far they are reliable. A+ in my book!

I purchased the PNY 240GB SSD to replace the factory installed HDD in my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. Acronis True Image software is included with the purchase of this item and made cloning my existing HDD quick and easy. You must have an HDD SATA external hard drive disk enclosure case and cable to accomplish the image transfer. Once the image transfer was complete I easily removed the HDD and installed the SSD. The system startup used to take approx. a minute to boot up but now only requires no more than 20 seconds. Read and write speeds for making backup copies is remarkable especially when using USB 3.0 ports and drives. My system operates at a noticeably lower temperature than with the original HDD. I immediately noticed an increased improvement in system performance with the newly installed SSD. The new drive produces no sound whatsoever and operates at a reduced power draw resulting in increased energy efficiency. Overall this drive has exceeded my expectations and was a worthwhile investment. It is backed by a generous three year manufacturer warranty. PNY is a leading manufacturer of SSDs so that combined with the great deal offered by Best Buy made this an easy purchase decision.

I purchased this SSD to replace the main hard drive in my 7 year old computer after the old drive not the dust. I kick myself for not doing this upgrade earlier. Just as you've heard before, upgrading to a solid state drive as your main boot drive (OS drive) improves your computers performance greatly. Computer boots fully in about 15 seconds (windows 10). Files and programs open almost instantly. Great drive do the price.
