Useless

I'm using a 256GB (actually 230 per Windows 11) that takes 10 to 20 seconds to begin a file transfer then sputters its way through any file write. The fastest transfer speed only hits 25MB/sec but even that never lasts long. After a few seconds it will go down to 0 for a while before it starts again. Foobar2000 won't play a single MP3 from this drive without stopping in the middle of the song to re-cache. I've tried multiple USB ports, toggling the write-cache settings, reformatting in NTFS. No joy. Compare that with my 2-year-old SanDisk thumb drive and it's night and day. Either there's a hardware issue with the PNY or it's just built as a hunk of junk. Even at a sale price of $13 it's a big mistake.

Bought two; returned one unopened

After using one to back up my computer files, I returned the other one (unopened) because: 1) the flash drive I used was difficult to open and close, and 2) it was much slower backing up my files than my SanDisk 3.0 flash drives.

Slow, then stopped working

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is the second PNY flash drive of this type (256GB and 128GB) to fail for me (PCs won't recognize them at all). They were slow, and then they just quit working, within a year with little usage. Their older ones from years ago were much better. These days, I suggest sticking with Sandisk, as their flash drives haven't failed me over decades. Don't fall for the lower cost of these newer PNY flash drives--you get what you pay for.
