Fun and Fresh New Take on Pokémon

Pokémon Legends Arceus does a good job freshening up the traditional Pokémon format and makes strides towards a new future. The game features open-world-esqe areas and players have much freedom in how they explore/catch Pokémon. Unlike most previous games the goal of the game is to complete the Pokémon, and it was a fun challenge to complete due to how fluid the catching system was. Story was pretty simple; nothing too special there. Fun and hard postgame content as well. Only real complaint would be the framerate; I didn’t mind it when I played through it initially, but I checked in again after playing through Skyward Sword HD and could immediately tell how framey the game was. If you’re a type of person who tends to notice framerates, you may have trouble enjoying this game. Besides that, highly recommend.

It has a different take on Pokémon that truly captivates you, I love that it’s open world and is the first Pokémon game in a while that really wants to make you catch them all.

Absolutely LOVED this game. I’ve been a Pokémon fan since the 90s and have played every main title in the series. This was a breath of fresh air for the series. A lot of fun exploring and definitely more incentive to fill the Pokédex up.

I am OBSESSED. it's unlike any pokemon game that has ever been out and it's so well done. i highly recommend it, especially if you like games like breath of the wild or genshin impact, it has that awesome open-world adventure aspect to it.

This game offers a refreshing perspective on the classic Pokémon formula. Set in the distant past you help research mysterious phenomena and show the common people at the time that Pokémon are not to be feared but embraced as friends. Habitats are fun to explore and offer incentive to find the various Pokémon that live there. Battle is fluid with satisfying animations to really make you feel the heat of the moment. Overall would reccomend to anyone looking to find a fresh new experience that offers a new look at where the Pokémon experience can evolve.

Good game and a lot of fun. I've only just started playing pokemon games and being a fan of pokemon go, it was really nice to step into one that is much more interactive than the phone game. Graphics have a Breath of the Wild look but overall are fitting for the game. I like that you can explore and catch pokemon in an open world setting. If you are a fan of the games and series it would be a must have.

I was done with Pokemon since Pokemon Emerald, I'm glad I came back to this. I really hope this is the direction that Pokemon continues to go. I prefer having loads of Pokeballs, revives, and potions, then explore in a way that doesnt focus only the battling aspect. Pokemon level up quickly and the game can be fast pace if you concentrate on the main story, which I haven't, but Ive gathered stars very quickly. There so much more to do! The only thing I think is weird is the character customization, I think Kimodos with the shoes selection makes it look like Im running around in pajamas. But thats not a big part of the game. The multiplayer is not really worth talking about. Trading is allowed with 2 player sharing a pin number. I like entering 1111, youre guaranteed a random person.

More fun than I expected. Im an OG Pokémon fan. I started way back in the day with Pokémon Red on the original Gameboy. This game does a lot of things right and takes away a lot of the tedious grinds that most Pokémon games implement. Battle animations are varied but could be better. The open world is definitely open but there could be more in it. If you’re a Pokémon fan, you’ll love this game.

First impressions 4 hours into the game: it’s a slow start. The “tutorial” part is a little long. The graphics yeah aren’t as good as they could be, but they definitely aren’t as bad as some are making them seem. It’s pretty addicting! There’s a lot going on. Theres the main mission and then the side quests. Then there’s research tasks for each Pokémon you have to do to actually complete the Pokédex entry for that Pokémon. I like it more than I thought I would honestly. I thought it was going to be kind of boring, but it surprised me. It’s definitely it’s a lot different than the previous Pokémon games we are all used to, but it’s nice to have something new. Im excited to see where Pokémon/GameFreak takes things in the future. I this game is a good start.
