The Pokemon Company does it again with it's most recent installment of Pokemon Shield! I love that this game goes back to the turned based RPG mechanics I've come to love. With it's immersive story, gameplay and multiplayer capability, I HIGHLY recommend Pokemon Shield to fellow Pokemon trainers old and new. This game has HUGE replay value and is worth the purchase.

If im being honest its way to short to spend 60$ or even more with the expansion like i did i have it pretty much completely done with the story and both side quest in 15 hrs its too easy to level up your pokemon i didn't have a challenge with any of the gyms or the end Tournaments............with that being said wait until the price drops its still a fun concept of game i just hope they do more with the next game

One of the best pokemon in the switch really goodd

Pokemon Sword and Shield build on the Pokemon formula, but are steps back in terms of Pokemon Games. While the Wild Area is fun an exciting, the biomes feel lacking in diversity. Most encounters should be overworld encounters. Compared to the Let's GO series that predated them, the immersion is lacking. Pokemon no longer follow you and riding on them is completely gone as well. Battles are fun and the characters are enjoyable, but it lacks some wonder and whimsy and is a bit of a step back for the franchise.

Great game with awesome graphics. Makes me miss the old Red and Blue days

This game takes several small steps forward, but Game Freak's inability to make any innovative changes holds the series back. The "big" change, the Wild Area, feels more analogous to Ocarina of Time's Hyrule Field from 1998 than 2017's Breath of the Wild. While other Nintendo franchises are pushing games forward Pokemon is just catching up to innovations made 20 years ago. If you enjoy Pokemon you will probably like this game, but it's basically more of the same. The story in this entry is particularly weak, though there are some decently written characters.

It's REALLY hard to make a bad Pokemon game. I bought this mainly because it's the first time an official Pokemon game is on console: and it's honestly really pretty and stuff. It's just super easy, but at the same time, like it's supposed to be. Sucks there's no way to make it harder outside of self-imposing stuff (I personally recommend turning it to not letting you switch when the opponent is sending out a new Pokemon). I've only logged like 40 minutes on it so far since I'm waiting for Black Friday to buy a switch but even in that time it was still a blast.

If you like Pokemon, you will like this game. Definitely not as good as the old games, but still very playable.

Amazing pokemon game, bought this for a sealed copy

Initially I thought this game wouldn't be worth purchasing because upon looking at the game and the details provided, it seemed to be severely lacking for a Pokemon console game. It came off as a game that was meant to be on the 3DS, but ended up getting ported to the Switch. I also kept asking myself where is the justification for the increase in price? After waiting almost a year I finally gave in to my craving to play a Pokemon game, and I am glad that I ended up purchasing this because despite this not being the Pokemon game fans have wanted on a console, the game is very fun. The visuals can sometimes look rough in some areas, but overall it looks good and I'm having a balst doing max raids. It is unfortunate that all Pokemon are not included in this title but there is a good amount to make anyone happy. There is DLC that adds new locations and quite a few Pokemon, so that may be something else you may want to purchase, although not necessary. Ultimately, this is the most fun I have had with a Pokemon game in a while.

Not all of the 600+ pokemon are in this game which is something a lot of people were upset about. I can see why that can be a bummer but there are alot of pokemon still in the game and it took along time to finish the pokedex. There are alot of new, cool pokemon with a ton of old ones. A satisfying story and a good mix of pokemon. Still entertaining 20 years later.

This is my second game on Switch. I never got to play the original Pokemon games on GameBoy and DS because my family couldn’t afford those. So I’m coming from long term series knowledge but fresh on the games. It’s pretty fun and I can see how people become invested in the series. But I don’t like that they split gym leaders and pokemon between 2 games. At 720p, with short playtimes, and having the dual entries every version, the $60 price point is too high. 7/10 recommend, if it’s on sale

Incredible game that i would recommend to anyone of all ages.

Great game with a huge open world, the new wild area is a good touch.

As the title says, the story is rushed, choppy, a little incomplete, and most characters are completely flat. But I don't think that's what most of us are here for. The new mechanics are fun to play with, and while the online functionality of the Wild Area and the YCOMM are a little spotty at times, it's still well worth it.
