Per my son, not as good as other Pokemon games. He still plays it for many hours.

Not for multiplayer game not liking that much. Not cost effective

I really wanted to enjoy this game, especially with all the new features and gimmicks that they introduced. However there was no in-depth story due it the structure being very linear. If you want to be bored for 20 hours, then buy this game.

I've been a Pokémon fan since I was a kid, so I was really excited to get Pokémon Sword and Shield when they came out in 2019. I ended up getting the Pokémon Shield edition, and I've been playing it off and on for the past four years. Overall, I think Pokémon Shield is a great game. It's a lot of fun to explore the Galar region, catch new Pokémon, and battle other trainers. The Wild Area is a really cool new feature, and I love the way the game's graphics have improved since the previous generation. Here's a more in-depth review of Pokémon Shield: **Graphics** The graphics in Pokémon Shield are a significant improvement over the previous generation. The characters and Pokémon look much more detailed, and the environments are more vibrant. The Wild Area is especially impressive, with its large open spaces and dynamic weather effects. **Gameplay** The gameplay in Pokémon Shield is classic Pokémon. You explore the world, catch Pokémon, battle other trainers, and level up your Pokémon. It’s not an amazing game but an alright start for the Switch.

Christmas gift for brothers, long time pokemon fans

It's a Christmas present for my great nephews. I can't rate it. They should have an option that say it's just a gift for someone. Can't rate it because it's a gift.

Lazy game with bad gameplay, bad dialogue, lots of handholding, and just overall a boring game to play. Any fan of the Pokemon series should skip this game.

I truly hope most, if not all of the issues with Sword and Shield are fixed in the upcoming DLC as the current versions are poor. There are frame rate and draw in issues in the Wild Area and the latter half of the game feels rushed and incomplete. Add in disgraceful AI and incessant connectivity issues in the Raids, what is supposed to be a banner feature of the new generation of Pokemon, and these titles are a Gigantamax disappointment. Sloppy dialog, poor animation and characters you won't care about round out the terrible showing. I've never been so disappointed in Nintendo and Game Freak as I am now.

“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” This game was rushed and left a bad taste of poor value in my mouth. Glad I got this game discounted thanks to rewards points. Not worth the full price. Get it on sale because Game Freak thinks it's ok to sell you half the game that is missing back to you via DLC and charge a FULL Switch game price for a half baked experience. 3DS Pokemon games were cheaper and way more complete without Online fees, or DLC required to complete the game.

They removed a lot from the previous games to make this. So if you’re new to the series then you’ll probably love it however if you’ve played since the gameboy days then you won’t.

I would honestly not even get this Pokemon game as it lacks so much content here. You're better off getting a different game or get a 3DS to play a better Pokemon game.

This game is a narrow hallway, just a content lacking, rushed race to the finish with constant battles and zero exploration or compelling stories to get lost in. This is the most bare bones Pokémon game (Nintendo just announced a $30 season pass) with barely anything to sink your teeth into. It’s just easy, simple battles from start to finish. The characters are brainless and repeat the same things ad nauseam.
