After reading lots of reviews both good and bad I decided to get the game. So far it has been a blast with lots of content. I got sword for my sons 5 year old birthday. I can’t wait to let him experience it as well in a few weeks. If you’re on the fence go for, I don’t think you will be disappointed!

As a necessary companion to SWORD. Shield proves to maintain the same engaging and fun gameplay as its companion. With variations that include different gym leaders, unique pokemon and places. Shield just like Sword is a must buy for any diehard fan of the series.

Very good game, a great deal of nostalgia. It is really easy and can get monotonous.

If you enjoy pokemon, you will enjoy this game but be warned you may consider it easy.

Got this for my daughter as I have Pokemon Sword. The game is one of the best Pokemon game around. Online play (Raids and trade) is one of the main new features that is so fun to play with family and friends. If you are a pokemon fan, you will need this game.

Overall great game. I would recommend to anyone who’s an avid gamer especially those who enjoy RPGs.

While it has plenty of missteps and missed potential, I still think this is a good Pokemon game. The story felt a little short (20 hours). As a 25 year old who has played every mainline game released, I feel that I am getting a little tired of the same formula, which is only natural. The next games on Switch need to bring more to the table for sure, and actually take full advantage of the new power offered by being on a home console.

My son likes it, but if given the choice he will play let’s go eevee or pikachu over the sword or shield. I’ve played both with him and the let’s go ones seam to be a better quality and overall easier to know what your doing and where you need to go. The sword and Shield games seem to be harder for both me and my son.

My son has been playing the game and loves the game play and graphics. Classic Pokémon evolutions.

People have been complaining about national dex and how the series is basically doomed to fail, but I say that this is just a fresh new take on the game. I honestly feel like It’s a good game, with new mechanics and as such, a great game for both old and new fans of the series alike.

Its a good Pokémon game, my son likes it and able to play together and trade.

Loved the game went through the main story in just under 24 in game hours over three total days and have filled the Shield portion of the Pokédex in 50ish hours over a week and a half. I just need 44 more Pokémon from shield to complete the 400 in the main game

They fixed several issues the franchise has had, at the expense of pretty much everything else. The majority of the characters and plot are terrible even for a Pokemon game. The online rarely lets you connect to other players doing raids. The graphics and animations range from amazing to absolute trash. The Wild Area feels like its an open world... until you realize you can't catch most of the pokemon until you get gym badges. Catching pokemon is still fun, some of the gym challenges are ok, and you don't have to grind much especially if you do a lot of raid battles. This game will not challenge you in any way, unless you impose rules on yourself. If you connect to the internet you will lag a lot. Overall it isn't a terrible game... but it's not good or fun either.

Don't worry. We got an extra copy in the end. The newest Pokemon game is super new player friendly, and I love playing dressup with my character so I'm always poor. But I'm having the time of my life with my sister, husband and I all playing pokemon in the living room on our switches.

A good Pokemon game but lacking in many many ways. Reused models and animations from previous generations. If there is a specific action, a trainer is doing, they will cut to black with a text box describing the action. Very uninteresting story where you are just told to keep moving onto the new location without getting to experience events that happen in the background.

I've played the game for about 18 hours so far and can say as someone who hasn't played a Pokemon game since crystal that I really love the game so far. So the battle system is simple but fun, catching Pokemon has a satisfying feeling to it, and exploring the new region is awesome.
