fun game but way too easy caters to lil kids. enjoyed it though

I purchased this item for my son for Christmas. So basically, the review would be from him. He was very pleased with this gift. He has been a fan of the Pokemon games for the past 20+ years and loves the series of games.

Despite this is a great game I did give it just 3*. The only reason it got marked down at all is for 3 reasons. First, which was confirmed even before release, not all the Pokemon are in the game. There are 400 Pokemon in the game. There are a total of 890 Pokemon, so this has less than half. All they said before release was that they not all in the game. I, at least, thought they would put in at least half. And the second reason, the game is horribly short. The routes and events in between gyms was so short at times it didn't even feel like I did anything at all. The main game can easily be done in a day. And lastly, there are tons of exploits in this game and trading isn't nearly as easy as in past either. People are making hard to catch and find Pokemon easy. People are essentially catching duplicates of these Pokemon as well. And then they essentially took out the GTS. Trading is down to mystery trades or trading with those you actually know and hook up with. Gone is the ability to search for Pokemon you are willing to trade for. Other than all that, great game.

Son beat the game in 2 days! He enjoyed playing and will be playing it again.

Haven’t played a Pokemon game since red/blue/yellow, but wanted to give this shield a try. Pro: Beautiful environments 3D models look good Battles Cooking Cons: Wish the battle moves actually were the Pokémon doing the moves instead of a cheap visual. A bit easy On the fence: Dynamax is an interesting component. Not sure about it yet though as an improvement or necessity.

About what one would expect for a main series Pokémon game. It’s strengths lie in its diverse Pokémon species, it’s dynamic locals in the wild area, and as usual, it’s music. However, the animations are still somewhat simplistic, and the graphics, while pleasing to the eye, fall short in comparison with titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

Fun way to pass the time during the pandemic I really enjoyed the game

Good game for my 10 year old. Just got him a Switch for Christmas, got the Shield and Sword games. He says the games are the exact same, but with different Pokemon. I guess I would suggest not buying them together, HA!

Despite some drawbacks such as missing Pokemon, there are great QOL changes such as Pokemon showing in the overworld, exp share across party, and being able to open the PC box anywhere. The game overall was solid and kept my interest all the way.

Fun game that can be enjoyed by a lot of family members, especially for anyone who is a big Pokemon fan. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes Pokemon and the type of gameplay that is also found in Pokemon Sword.

Good game! It's short in my opinion, but an expansion pack is coming soon.

This is a great game, lots of fun and so much to do. There are so many things to do and explore in this game. Still had the original Pokémon feel but my one piece of advice is to go in with an open mind and you will have a great playing experience.

It was a nice gift. She loves it and it she already has the sword one.

Great first try pre console Pokemon game. They streamlined the gameplay, to make it more accessible for people who have in play Pokemon their entire life like me. But it keeps all of the good fun stuff, like catching Pokemon and running around the cities. Totally worth getting it if you're a Pokemon fan, but you might be a little disappointed with the stuff that they left out.

Good game with short story, could have done better.

I bought this game for my 8 year old son, he absolutely loved it. I also bought him the sword. He has not stopped playing with it...Best Buy had the best price and if not they will match it, from a legitimate competitor.
