I can't compare this to the many other entries in the series, as this is the only one I've played, but the game is immediately accessible and the pokemon fun to experiment with.

I've always enjoyed the pokemon series, and this one was no different. Plenty of things to do in this game, definitely was not disappointed and looking forward to the next ones.

While there are many reasons to be disappointed with Pokémon X and Y, there are also many reasons to add them to your game library. The game is relatively short compared to most other Pokémon games on the Nintendo DS. Other than the usual collecting and competitive play, there is not much content to enjoy after the main story has been completed. My biggest problem with the game is the over the top technical ambition. There is noticeable slowdown during battles especially when enabling the 3D stereoscopic effect. If you're a proponent of stereo 3D, like me, you'll be disappointed to find out that the effect is not usable during the entire game. The effect, for the most part, is disabled in the over world. However, the game mechanics are vastly improved over older Pokémon games. The addition of the fairy type balances type matching for more enjoyable competitive play. The mega evolution mechanic adds an interesting twist as well. When Pokémon Bank/Transfer is released trading Pokémon from older games will be MUCH easier than in past titles. The social aspects of the game make it easier to enjoy with friends who are far away. This is important in countries like America where distance is quite often the reason why multiplayer features are infeasible.

I thought this one was going to be difficult because of it's 3D capability and include too many new pokemon to be interesting, I was very wrong. It's incredibly easy and intuitive and there are brand new pokemon and all the old ones that you grew up with!
