Not sure what makes this a great or terrible game but my kids only played it like 3 times.

This is an incredibly dumbed down version of a classic game, except it lost all the style and nuance that made it classic. It's not even a complete update, the game still uses the original Pokemon sprites for menus (which just looks lazy and out of date, considering it's supposed to be an update). The fighting animation is still the same old looks as always, virtually NO updates (which again is lazy) and while Nintendo has access to all the sounds from the anime, they still choose to use the same 8bit pathetic sounds for all the Pokemon since the games inception. Not to mention that the removal of ALL Pokemon random battles ruins the experience. The only battles are trainer battles. This is a sad and pathetic "update" and if this is sign of where the series is going .... I am sad to say, I will not be following.

Bought it because of all the hype but still haven’t used it. If you like Pokémon enough then buy it.

Game is more for kids than adults. If you have a child, this is for you!

If you are expecting the original Pokémon experience this is not the game. It’s very nice and if you love Pokémon go this will be of great enjoyment. However, if you are expecting the classic Pokémon gameplay you’ll be very dissapointed

Great game hindered by new functions the catching system isn't nearly as fun and battling reflects that

Its repetitive because to level up your pokemon you have to catch more pokemon. You can't just 1 shot them like in the old RPG and just grind that way. You have to keep catching pokemon and you end up with an inventory of useless ratatas. Overall I do like how you can see the pokemon out in the wild and decide if you want to encounter them or not.

Not a traditional Pokemon game. The combat mechanic is basically the same as Pokemon Go.

My son loves to play with Nintendo all time. Games according to the kids age are excellent

Not much is new, it's like playing gameboy color games. Very few character specific abilities.

If you think that this game is a typical pokemon game, then turn away. It's like pokemon easy mode. Your hand is held for what seems like the entire game. If you want a casual pokemon experience, then sure go for it.
