Not the HD leap we were hoping for

In Generation 8, as much as I don’t care about graphics, this entry stood out as one that Finally spoke to me “they severely cut corners to rush a product”. I was eagerly looking forward to play a Pokémon adventure on the big screen, even have Pokémon waiting on Pokémon bank on 3DS to make the transfer. Online multiplayer I wish had more modes. It’s sad that if me and a friend want to co op online like in a battle tower setting, we have to get our ancient WEP routers and play Pokémon platinum to do that. Now in this game, they not only STILL haven’t brought back that feature, but they now removed the ability to play doubles with a local partner. This, along with worst story in the franchise, left a sour taste with me. The story, really needs work, it really didn’t go anywhere exciting. Hope they do better next time!

Great game - but Some out of date design

One thing I had hoped would finally change after am these years is hearing the characters speak. The characters you interact with in the game don’t talk - you have to read everything. It’s 2019 - let’s get some speech in the game.

No steelbook

Target includes a steelbook at no extra cost. Plenty of reviews on the games themselves. They're not without criticisms but remain good for a "first" console RPG attempt if Pokemon Go console titles aren't considered.
