Satisfied after 20 year wait
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting for Pokémon to finally come to the big screen (of the living room) for 20 years, and with Pokémon Sword, in no way have I been disappointed. For context, I completed the original Pokémon Red/Blue games back in the day, and played some of the Pokémon games after, while skipping some generations entirely. Many people are upset that you can't catch or have every pokémon possible in Sword/Shield, but to be honest, this didn't bother me, because I thought you always had to start over and re-catch pokémon with each generation/installment. There is always the possibility that this is comes via game update/patch anyway. The game systems have been streamlined to make things less tedious, like traveling, or switching out Pokémon between your party and storage boxes. There feels like there is a lot to do in the game. I have at least 45+ hours into the game, but only have 3 of the badges so far. I haven't tried out any of the multiplayer features, but hope to do that soon. If you're a fan of Pokémon, this game is a no-brainer in my opinion. I'm curious to see how they advance the series in future installments!

Quality graphics and engaging play
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I will, even now, consider the gameplay of Red/Blue/LeafGreen/FireRed and Gold/Silver/HeartGold/SoulSilver the best, this entry adds a new dynamic I appreciate: an open world feel, beautiful graphics, experience sharing among all party members, and more realistic character interactions.

Truthful review from long time pokemon player
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent game as far as new playthrough material, as well as new mechanics. However for anyone who played blue/red through diamond, it will be far too easy of a game for you. There is post storyline gameplay, including breeding and legendaries, as well as online play. Is it worth the money? Yes. Would I buy both versions (sword and shield) as I have with previous releases? No. Main story time played for completion- 35 hours.

Must have game!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is definitely a must for any Pokémon fan! I have not played since emerald and it was easy for me to jump into this as a returning player. Plus, the animations are great and there’s so much to do, even after you finish the story mode. This is currently my favorite switch game.

Great new pokemon adventure.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I adore is new Pokemon adventure game. The story line, along with this new generation of Pokemon were very interesting. The open world concept is what I enjoyed the most, because I was able to interact with the Pokemon is the wild. Overall, another great Pokemon adventure to have. Hope you enjoy it too.

I got my hopes up, but it was mediocre
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this was the one, man. I was so excited for a Pokemon game to finally make a breakthrough and deliver something that the fans have always wanted. An open, beautiful, and exciting 3D Pokemon experience that is chock full of replayability and an epic story. Pokemon Sword was... fine, I guess. It was okay. I give it 3/5 stars because it is Pokemon and that's cool, but... I feel like it was on it's way and then just kind of fizzled. It's probably the team was rushed, the release date was rushed, they had to make cuts and get a minimum viable product out. I heard the DLC added some nice content, but it still feels like it just fell short. Pokemon Sun and Moon were so much better, imo. Sword had a story that didn't really feel fleshed out. Your rival Hop was feeling insecure and then, ta da, he's just all better now. Some of the plot lines that seemed so important just fizzled. It just felt like there was content missing. The new Pokemon were pretty cool, but they couldn't shine because the game didn't shine. It's worth playing if you're a Pokemon fan, and it is a good game, but it's disappointing to me because it could have been so much more.

Awesome Pokemon game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I honestly have a lot of fun with this new pokemon game addition, its awesome to see how much the graphics and move animations have come since fire red and leaf green were released (the first ones I played). My only complaint is that this game is significantly easier than the others - which is great for younger kids but I was looking forward to the grind between the last gym and challenging the elite four. Still recommend for any pokemon fans

Great entry to the series ignore the bad publicity
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best Pokemon games they've in the series. My favorite is still soul silver but this is up there. The pacing is great you never feel bogged down like the begining of sun and moon. There also alot less load screens and menus open and close quickly so everything feels streamlined even trading goes alot quicker. Alot of people will grip about the Pokedex as there are only 400 Pokemon. But even withthis there are still great selection available new and old. I never felt limited in my selection. They've added alot of things that make training large amounts of Pokemon easy so you can switch Pokemon in and out of your line up without having to grind to get them up to speed. The last good thing is this obviously looks beautiful on either switch. My one grip would be the music manly the battle music it's kinda cheesy for regular battles the location music and gym fight music is better tho. Still this would not be enough to dissuade me from saying it's a great game for all levels of Pokemon fandom.

Pokemon is back!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for those that are familiar with past games eligible for competition. Pokemon Shield and Sword welcome the return of pokemon abilities (in addition to new abilities), hold items (in addition to new hold items). Weather and field conditions have a heavy impact on battles as well and having natures that benefit your desired EV stats is easier than ever to achieve. In previous games, poke natures that affected EV were randomized and you could not change a pokemon's EV curve. Now you can change your pokemon's nature using berries, in turn changing your EV. IV's are a thing as well and you have more ways than ever to identify pokemon with maxed out IV's. Basically, if you like good ole competitive pokemon, breeding, and team building you will thoroughly enjoy this game.

Great Game!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven’t played a pokemon game in quite a few generations. This is a great one to pick back up on. Looks great. Animations are awesome and it is pretty user friendly to get you back into the swing of things. I highly recommend for anyone that has been away from the series for a bit of time!

Best one yet!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the years, I have skipped on Buying pokemon games because the touch of innovation has not really been there. Although it seems this has a lot of influence from Zelda Breath of the Wild, it is a great game. Too bad the pokedex was cut, but I hope they just keep adding more pokemon soon
