Best sound in this price range extra features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first purchased another Samsung (HW-N550) and returned after 10 days of frustration. No base, very blah sound even compared to my old 2.1 Polk. I took it back because I knew I wanted another POLK. This soundbar is everything I wanted. If you put the woofer on the same wall (as suggested in the booklet) and crank it up to the highest level, you get the best movie experience in this price class. Everything was so much better than Samsung. You open the accessory box and everything comes neatly packed with good quality products. you get an HDMI cable (some soundbars don't include one) which is best used if the TV has an HDMI/ARC. The booklet has suggestions on the best sound which was impressive. The remote has many features including the Bluetooth button and a good placement for woofer adjustments. The remote has a soft carrying case. The woofer is the best. The voice adjustments in the middle of the soundbar sound great. The whole thing connected to my TV without much fuss. My Bluetooth headset had trouble pairing but this was NOT a dealbreaker. The built-in Google home is awesome! I immediately got the phone app and added some music that can be playing in the soundbar and sounds good for this price range. For movies on the TV you can switch between movies/music or voice. The soundbar had a firmware upgrade and was downloaded from the phone app right to the bar - in minutes. Fantastic. I am very pleased. Stay away from Samsung bars. I have many Sam products in my home and they are great even my TV but POLK has amazing soundbars. If you want some base, try this one.

Excellent for the sale price.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this soundbar when it was on sale for $350. I was deciding between this and the samsung q70r. They were both about the same price, I think the polk was actually about $70 more. The bass in this subwoofer is incredible, and shakes my living room, and the soundbar sounds incredible. My only dislike was the difference between the display model and mine. When I came and looked at it in store, the display was showing how the sound can bounce and sound like it's all around you like a true surround sound system. But when I got home, yes the sound was crisp and clean, but it did not sound anything like the display made it seem it would. So I highly reccomend buying the wireless speakers that come with the next step up. It will make an incredible difference and complete the set up in my opinion. All in all, a great soundbar for the $350 I spent. But for the price of almost $600 at normal cost, I believe I could have gotten a true 5.1 system and enjoyed it just as much if not more. But all in all, no true complaints. Great bass, love the fact that you can adjust bass, volume, and voice.

Nice voice feature
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried the Samsung 5.1, the JBL 3.1 with the 10 inch sub, the Klipsch 3.1, and this Polk Audio 3.1. The JBL had nice clarity and the sub is awesome. It lacks depth coming from the bar itself which I could live with. I thought I had found the soundbar that I've been looking for but I figured I would try others. The Samsung paired nicely with my Samsung TV, being able to control the soundbar through the TV was definitely a nice feature. But the vocals sounded a bit muffled and the sub was not impressive. Maybe its because the soundbar is made for smaller rooms with close walls and ceilings to bounce the sound off of. I have very high ceilings and only one wall near the TV so there is nothing to bounce the sound around. So we returned it. For the Klipsch, it definitely has power and the sound is very nice. It is a big soundbar in the way of size and has nice quality. However, the soundbar randomly turned itself off while watching TV. It did that twice in one week plus when you turn the sound all the way down to nothing (without hitting the mute button), the sub went crazy for some reason. So we returned it also. We were going to keep the JBL but wanted to try one more soundbar and it was the Polk Audio 3.1. We could tell a difference right way with its clarity. I know all 3.1 and up soundbars have a designated center channel specifically for vocals but this one is different. You can actually control just the center channel by turning it up or down without losing sound quality from the other speakers. It has a nice sound quality from the bar. The sound doesn't distort in any way even when turning it up during loud scenes. The sub is an 8 inch down firing sub. Having it turned almost all the way down, it still sounds good. The bar itself is low profile, very thin whereas the Klipsch cut off the bottom part of my tv screen. Getting it on sale was nice and well worth the price. Sorry the review is long but if you're like me and want to spend your hard earned money on quality and not something to "settle" for, then you do your research to find what you really want. Hopefully this review helps others.

Sounds to Bump Your SOUL
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a current Polk Magnifi sound bar system with wireless sub, I was looking for a new system that would be equally as good or better than the current system I had. After sampling different brands at different stores I was not impressed. And I knew if I wanted something good, I'd have to pay the price for the sounds to bump my soul. Yes, it is quite pricey but for the features and sound quality, it justifies it all. This system seamlessly works as the external sound directly from my tv, it's Bluetooth compatible for my phone to play music, but most of all, the bass from the sub will vibrate your entire house. I'm not an audiofile, but I know what great is for the price, and the Polk Magnifi Max is it. Oh and if you're curious why I wanted to upgrade, it's because I'm moving my original Polk Magnify to my garage gym and putting the new Polk Magnify Max in the living room. Cheers!

Great system
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounded a lot better in my home then tested at Best Buy probably due to the open space at Best Buy. The price was right at $200 off walking out the door was $299.00 The adjustment of the voice control is excellent .I did purchase the two wireless rear surround speakers to go with the system and really sounds great .The bass is also pretty good. The Bluetooth to the phone for music the sound would not go as high as it was with TV music channel on . Also there is a button for movie theater sound or sports or music the music button also quiets down the sound a little bit too it sounded the best movie theater mode . Overall great price sounds great not too much to complain about with the system . Hook up was quite easy with the system follow the instructions and you're good .

great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned b/c it was a little too tinny for my liking and I didn't really like the look of it since it didn't really fit well in my tv stand since the sub is quite large, but this system crushes anything you throw at it in DTS or Dolby. It also has a different color light for each source on the soundbar, green for dolby, yellow for dts which was really cool. I also returned b/c I couldn't find the sr1 rears anywhere at the time. i think with the rears this thing would kill. I think if you're looking for a 5.1 system this would be a good go to (if you can find the wireless rears...good luck unless you buy the entire 5.1 elsewhere since they don't sell it at best buy). Out of the box, this thing is super clean. Polk did a great job. Unfortunately it didn't work out for me, but I would totally recommend. The voice adjust was pretty cool and the sub slammed. of course it depends on the source but when watching a 4k blu-ray like x-men apocalypse it would rattle my house at volume 10/50. kinda scary actually. lol.

Easy setup, decent sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent a long time looking for a soundbar that had decent sound for a price that wouldn't break the bank. The Best Buy employee pointed me to this model in the store and I pulled the trigger. Setup was really simple and utilizes your phone for pairing the speaker with different devices, connecting to wifi, etc, and only took a few minutes. The two different sets of volume buttons on the remote and the bar itself are kind of an odd choice. It's like having an equalizer for only treble, and it just seems unnecessary. The bar does not get super loud, and when it does hit peak volume, it gets a little poppy/scratchy sounding. I am only using it for bedroom TV and gaming though, so I don't need it to be very loud, but if you're looking for something to blare music with lots of bass, look elsewhere. Overall, for the price and the features, this soundbar is easy to use and has decent sound for bedroom use.

Long term review
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a long term review as I purchased this in August of 2020. Overall sound quality is great. I have had good performance up until recently out of this unit when it suddenly stopped producing sound other than the volume up and down noise it makes when adjusting volume. This was a few weeks after connecting it to a new 4k TV...suddenly when watching something on a Firestick and adjusting the volume down audio from what we were watching just stopped. You could adjust volume up and down and hear the feedback from that but that is the only sound it would produce. Tried unplugging it, different hdmi cords, even connected it to a different TV. Ultimately the fix was to factory reset it and go through the setup process again. This has been the only major hiccup I've had with it and I've been please with it aside from that. Posting here in the event someone else has an issue and this might help them resolve it.

Got this on sale. Excellent value at sale price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I had a small apartment the mini would work fine but, I have an open floor plan room where we watch TV. The max comes out of a LOT of packaging but, it is packed well. Installation and set up could not be easier. It basically tells you which cables and inputs to pick and covers you with all of the hook ups. It worked with my cable box remote without having to do a thing. The unit itself sounds great and fills the room with great Polk audio sound, especially music, voice and bass. I am pairing this with a 65" Sony A8 and a Sony 4K player and it works like a champ. Good mid-range and highs in it, I like that the bass unit (which is a bit huge so, you'll need to think about where to put it) gives those low frequencies without straining like the Samsung I replaced that went bad. I am still trying to figure out how to get the blu ray player as loud as the Cable box. For cable the audio is perfect but, for blu ray I'm pushing into the 90s on the TV out volume which doesn't seem right. Possibly running coax straight to the Max from the Blu Ray will do it but, it's so easy with the HDMI to the TV and because I haven't needed that last bit of volume without blowing myself out of the room, I just haven't experimented. Otherwise if you are just going Cable and/or TV Apps like Netflix, this unit will blow your mind. I may eventually pair with the wireless surrounds at some point which is a nice option but, honestly if you are looking for realistic theatre sound out of a simple bar + sub setup and to chill with subscriptions, look no further. But, don't pay list.

Love this soundbar system!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned a Vizio sound bar and subwoofer for YEARS and decided to move that system to the bedroom. Naturally I needed a new unit for the den, and what a decision it was. Polk has some of the best home audio sound I've heard, the Bluetooth works seamlessly, and it was literally as easy as "plug & play". If you're considering this as your home audio, don't hesitate to get it.

Sounds great despite being ugly
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant to try this sound bar set because they are quite ugly. However they sound amazing and I tried a lot of sound bars and ultimately kept this set. I also bought wireless add on speakers for the rear and set up is easy and the quality is great. I really recommend these.

Really Good with Some Draw Backs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this system at the top of my list waiting for it to come out since November. Polk went all out with ease of set up and beauty from the box to the soundbar to the bass the even the remote. It is absolutely a beautiful system including possibly the easiest/best remote I have ever used. The Voice Clarity system they have to turn up voice works pretty well. It made it a little easier to hear people in very loud scenes that I'm not even sure the were supposed to be heard like people mumbling before jumping out of a plane for example. The system is very powerful for the Wattage. At 50%, I had to practically scream at someone in the room with me to get them to hear me. For it's price range and even some bars above it, the sound quality was really, really good overall. I really wanted to like it, but there were somethings that unfortunately made me return it for another. The Voice Adjust system states in the guide to work with Movies, Sports, TV Shows, but does not mention music. I listened to some instrumentals and heavy vocal songs and thought the soundbar handled well, but then my roommate put on some very mixed music/instrument heavy like Alabama Shakes, and the soundbar did not preform well. The voice was very overshadowed by the instruments. We checked it against another soundbar and a Harman Kardon portable speaker, and those two didn't have this issue. Even with the voice featured turned up, the singers sounded as if they were back stage as my roommate put it. I wasn't planning on listening to a lot of music on it, so I may could have got past that. There may be an update in the future to patch the Voice system to better perform with music (which should be possible with the WiFi chromecast built-in, but can't verify that it is possible). However, while testing a scene in Band of Brothers at about 50% (although that is very loud, but in theory no where near capacity), there was a significant amount of static in the speakers. Although I may never would have used the volume at that level, it did concern me. Ultimately, I choose the 3.1 JBL in the same price range, I found it to have better sound on my movies and music. However, to get that I had to give up looks and extra features. So if you want a soundbar system in this price range that has chromecast built-in that sounds good and looks incredible and has the ability to go 5.1 with added rear speakers, I'm not sure you can get a better system in this price range. But if you are not hinging on chromecast and/or looks or are planning to invest to go to 5.1 in the future, then I would consider some other respectable audio companies before you buy.

Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I timed set-up including un-boxing which was the hardest part it’s soooo packed inside sooo much stuff. But then, and side note all I did was swap it out w another sound bar, so I put the already connected optical cable into this one, power, then plugged in the sub, pressed the bluetooth button, and done. Easiest set up I’ve ever done only 17 minutes. Sound is great! I had wasted my time and $180 on a two channel bar last year that was better than my tv alone but if you can afford it, don’t try and save money and get a cheaper one because now I wasted money on the old one. This one sounds great and with the bass turned up it vibrates the sofa and whole room like at the movies. But of course you can lower it and be a better neighbor. And even at lower levels it sounds amazing. I swapped it out when my son wasn’t looking and when he heard the music in some random commercial he asked if it was coming from the tv or the sonos. So yes it gives you that level (maybe not officially but close enough for me). Sales guy did not disappoint. I’m so happy with my new toy, I’m all set for this rainy weekend!

Absolutely Amazing
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is absolutely amazing. The “simulated” (so to speak) surround sound is truly incredible with this system. The fact it also has the add on true 5.1 surround speakers make it that much more incredible if you choose to add them down the line. These speakers feel theater quality no matter what I’m listening to or watching. Easy setup, no connection issues and incredible sound quality. The ONLY wish I have is that it had the full google assistant or even chrome cast ability with the full video set and not just audio. As is, a google home will Id it as a separate speaker and the labeling of the chrome cast is misleading as it isn’t an actual chrome cast function of controlling apps such as Netflix or power of the connected tv it is utilizing. That being said the hdmi ports the speaker has allows you to connect a chrome cast if you would so choose. Overall this is the best speaker I have had to date.

Awesome sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is the 4th soundbar I’ve had in 3 years. All have either had connection issues, sound drops or just plain bad sound. Though this one is different. The sound quality is a huge step up from the standard TV. It’s not a 7.1 movie system and to be honest if that’s what you want then don’t buy this. You get a sense of surround though not the true immersive experience. Bass is great, voice is tight and clear. One issue and this is related to the source. Dolby sound from directv on some channels means the actual shows are great, then commercials super quiet...I like it but the switching to a non Dolby channel shoots the volume up or down. I set mine to PCM and it’s still a huge improvement.

Excellent Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar has excellent quality sound. The bass is so distinct, it is almost too much at times.... However, utilizing the remote control, to lower the bass, can help to equalize sound and control vibration from the sub-woofer. I live in an upstairs apt....so unfortunately I am not able to fully appreciate the enhanced bass this system is capable of. I tried several different soundbars, before finally settling on this Polk Audio System, and as a result, I do recommend this system for anyone who can truly appreciate quality surround sound. Especially if you're looking for a sub-woofer that can really kick it!

Great Soundbar.....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality for this soundbar in my living room is awesome. Fills the room with the sound i wanted. Bass is great. Built in chromecast is awesome, as you can pair it with other chromecast devices to stream music simultaneously. Only issue is that the subwoofer started making random noise which were a bit startling. Returned it to store and waiting on replacement, as i really do like it. Hopefully the replacement doesn’t have an issue as well.

Great Sound Bar!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, very easy to setup! Love the multiple HDMI hook ups for my blu-ray, apple tv, and switch. Also, the AUX hook up for my record player (even that sound good...or I should say good enough). Clear sound from the bar. You can easily adjust voice and bass. Night mode is fantastic. Put the kids down...hit that button...still get great sound with out waking the kids up. The sub hits smooth deep bass. You can get wireless surrounds for this system, which is a cool option. I highly recommend this product!!

Great sound; temperamental source switcher
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m impressed with the sound and relative ease of setup. I originally plugged all HDMIs through the sound bar and then ARC’d to theTV. My DVD player didn’t like going thru the sound bar, so I changed that to run directly to the TV. Then the source switching in general was temperamental at best, so I’m just going to run all HDMIs to the TV again and just run the optical to the sound bar. I hope that works fine.
