Amazing Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up of the soundbar was simple with easy to follow instructions. The remote makes it easy to adjust the sound to your listening ear by being able to adjust the subwoofer base and the sound of voices, which I liked a lot because I sometimes feel the voices are muffled and it corrects it. Because of the remote controling the Base and Voice/treble, the sound is similar to an actual movie theater and the music is spectacular. I almost took away a star because I am having trouble figuring out how the built-in Chromecast works, as there are no actual instructions for this and I am not familiar with it.

Excellent soundbar, easy to setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar is fantastic. It was easy to setup and the sound quality is amazing. The instructions recommend putting the subwoofer on the same wall as the soundbar, but I put mine on an opposite wall (behind where the TV viewers sit) and it sounds just as good. Chromecast functionality is a bonus. Bluetooth was also easy to setup. The only downside is that it doesn't have a screen, but the light indicators are very useful and indicative of the commands being received from the remote. Overall, this is by far one of the better soundbars I've owned.

Incredible Sound and Clear Voices finally!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could not be happier with the MagniFi Max so far. I am by no means an audiophile, but this sound bar has crystal clear sound straight out of the box, and the wireless woofer provides enough bass to shake our house. This thing will get very loud while still maintaining the clear sound. The best feature is the manual voice control that actually works. I've been looking for a soundbar that will create clear voices in my vaulted ceiling great room and have finally found it. I am finally able to hear what people are saying during shows, movies, games, and sports clearly at lower volumes. I'm no longer constantly turning the volume up to hear voices, then down again during action scenes or during music. Setup was easy, but it took me a few minutes to figure out that I had to plug my Amazon Fire stick, bluray player, and satellite box directly into the soundbar instead of leaving them plugged into the TV like I did with my old soundbar. Streaming music to my Google Home in my kitchen and this soundbar is an awesome feature as well. One I have used several times already and will any time I listen to music in the house. The only problem I've run into is getting the soundbar to switch back to sound for the TV without turning the soundbar off and back on. Maybe I'm missing something, but it's not apparent to me. Overall I would highly recommend this soundbar.

Great Sound!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great sound bar. Hits low, mid range just right. Very clear voice. I have it placed in a medium sized master bedroom in a townhouse. I am a blind individual and this system couldn't have been easier to connect. I have the sound bar, cable box, blu-ray, Apple TV running through my Fire Cube. The subwoofer packs a punch. The unit also has three additional HDMI ports, besides the HDMI ARC. This meant no switch was needed. Purchased on Thanksgiving for $300, and now on sale for $400. Fair price at either price, but wouldn't pay full price. Customer service was very helpful at Polk. They were gracious enough to take a few minutes to explain the remote layout. If a blind individual can get this all setup within 40 minutes... You shouldn't have an issue with this wonderful sound bar.

Love the fact you can adjust the voice up and down when watching movies or listening to music makes a big difference. Subwoofer hits hard for both music and movies. Poor frequency balance and Bluetooth performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polk ManiFi MAX provides a great compliment of connectivity options, but its audio performance is severely lacking, and it suffers from Bluetooth interference issues. [ Pros ] - Includes a fairly comprehensive compliment of connectivity options. I consider this the greatest asset of this sound bar. - Both Dolby Digital and DTS technology are supported. - Setup was quick and easy. - Wirelessly connected subwoofer helps reduce wire clutter. - Two rear surround sound speakers can be added later if desired for the full 5.1 channel experience. [ Cons ] - Frequency balance is probably the worst among any dedicated speaker system I've heard. With full 'voice' boost, passable performance can be achieved while watching TV and movies. However, when listening to music, the high and high-middle frequencies are horribly dull--regardless of voice/bass balance--with vocals being easily drowned out, sounding distant and muted. Even when comparing this sound bar to my portable Bluetooth speaker and my smart assistant speaker--which is not a fair comparison by any stretch of the imagination (in favor of the sound bar)--I actually prefer the latter speakers and am left wondering how this sound bar could possibly sound so bad. Comparing to other audio equipment it should more reasonably be on par with was even more disparate. I brought a family member over to help compare these devices through blind testing as a reality check to make sure I wasn't somehow being overly biased, and they reached the same conclusion (with the same amount of surprise). Somewhat amusingly, I found the music mode to be the worst for listening to music (or for listening to any sound source, for that matter). - There seems to be major problems with the Bluetooth implementation. Sometimes when trying to pair a Bluetooth device, the pairing would fail, and I could not make further attempts until I turned the sound bar off and on again. Worst yet, there were major interference issues with other Bluetooth devices. For example, having a Bluetooth mouse in the general area, playing audio caused the mouse cursor to stutter horribly, and moving the mouse cursor caused the audio to stutter horribly. I tested this interaction on two different laptops, with the same outcome on both. I did not have this kind of interference problem when simultaneously using the mouse and playing audio via Bluetooth to my various other audio output devices, from the previously mentioned laptops. - It takes a fairly long time to recover from sleep mode, which is entered after some duration of no audio input. - Very loud sounds are emitted from the sound bar when devices connect to or disconnect from it via Bluetooth. - There is noticeable audio output delay, even when using the stereo audio cable, with no apparent way of disabling post-processing to help alleviate this. [ Conclusion ] The Bluetooth interference problem greatly impedes using this sound bar as a sort of sound hub for the home, and the poor frequency balance makes listening to music on this sound bar an unfortunate experience. If it were to be used primarily for watching TV and movies--and your TV supports HDMI ARC or you can adjust the video output delay to compensate for the audio output delay--then this sound bar offers a passable experience. However, there are better options available at this price point and lower.

I really wanted to like this soundbar. :(
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me begin by saying that I am reasonably competent with tech and have used other manufacturers' sound bars in the past. Then, as now, I do not recommend them as an alternative to a full blown, AV receiver and discrete speakers solution. However, there are simply times and places where a good sound bar is the only practical solution. Polk speakers are well known and regarded in the industry and that is part of the reason that I am so surprised and disappointed with this product. Let's start with the positive - the packaging is creative and very well designed. Every item is protected not just with molded styrofoam but also with individual cloth-like coverings. The unit is very lightweight (even the subwoofer) and the low profile allows you to place the soundbar in front of your TV without blocking the screen (unless it's the SONY A1E!). The package includes a complement of cables including optical and high speed HDMI (very welcome!). A nice remote is also included. Now the bad stuff.... Setting the unit up was very difficult. The manufacturer has abdicated setup to the Google Home App which is great when it works, but a total pain when it stumbles. To be fair - Polk is not at fault for Google's app but when that is the sole tool provided for setup... well, let's just say that it was a frustrating afternoon. I did finally get the soundbar to show up in the app but there was no real way to troubleshoot the problems after that. There appears to be no way to force a firmware update. You are simply instructed to wait overnight! My first go-to was the Internet. The "support" there is virtually non-existent. The only visual cues offered on the soundbar are a group of unlabeled LEDs that indicate different things based on what you are trying to do and are virtually worthless. Specifically what problems am I having? Well, the unit doesn't always want to connect to the wireless subwoofer, it also randomly enters a sleep state and requires me to manually turn the power on. Worst of all, when connected vis HDMI it suffers from random audio dropouts. I have confirmed this with two different sources. At this point I simply ran out of patience. This product is one of what I would call an "upper mid-range" solution. It is reasonable to have some higher expectations at its price point and unfortunately it falls short. My suggestion - try another soundbar or, better yet, opt for a discrete solution!

Very well balanced
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the most finely tuned bars on the market. Dialog is crystal clear. I’ve never had to turn up the volume to hear dialogue only to turn it down for the next action scene like I’ve had to do with my JBL 3.1. The 8” sub does sound great and shows it’s potential when listening to music. During movies the sub does leave you wanting a tiny bit more; it’s a good thing though because when you don’t want more bass I’ve found that it’s overbearing. The only downfall I would say (like a lot of Bars) is the remote being manufactured with infrared sensors and not radio frequency. It’s harder for the sensor to catch depending on where the remote is being used throughout the living room. Also, it would be nice if the remote lit up when a button is pushed since most people watch movies in a dimmed room. This setup simply could not be beat for what I paid for it on sale. Easy setup, sound quality is prime, voice control is amazing and it looks great. Returned my JBL for this Polk and I am glad I did!

Fantastic soundbar! Easily one of the best!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hooked this up over the weekend, put on Cats and Phantom of the Opera, and was blown away! Rich soundstage makes it sound like you are wrapped in 5 speakers instead of just one. Subwoofer is good for an 8in. This really is a solid setup! My 22 year old daughter, who usually just rolls her eyes at all of Dad’s “toys” was really impressed and wants one! Just FYI, the box this comes in is HUGE. An SUV or truck is a must. It won’t fit in a compact station wagon or sedan.

Great for what we needed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We're both getting up in age and hearing the speech from programs over the louder background music/noise was getting more difficult. Since it was not our main television, we were looking for something to help bring up speech/voice of programing without the $$ of a full-blown audio add-on. Easy setup, great sounding and exactly what we were looking for. Lucky to find it on sale, so price was right also. Happy with the purchase.

Thoroughly Researched... Impressed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In store: it was between the JBL 3.1 system and the Polk Max 3.1. I went with the Polk system because 1. It was in stock and 2. Honestly the Polk had a fuller sound when I demoed both of the units...and Polk has a 3 year warranty. At home: hookup and installation was simple. I was hooking it up to a Vizio 55in smart TV. Everything synced on its own. CAUTION: I did hook it up to Google home per the manual recommendations in order to get firmware updates. It did act a little goofy initially but seems to be working fine shortly after. I especially like the simplicity of this unit. One button for music, movies, and sports. The sound is Rich and full - not tinny. Solid and balanced highs and lows. I highly recommend this unit for someone that wants great sound with simplistic controls and settings. Highly recommend... 4 stars not 5 because I have only had it for two days at this point.

Great sound separation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this for 2 ½ years. I am still amazed at the quality of the sound. I replaced an old system with front and rear speakers. The surround-sound characteristics of this system are excellent. I don't miss the rear speakers at all.

Ugh..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had bought this soundbar from Bestbuy about 8 months ago. It worked pretty decently for about 2 months then everything stopped functioning. No indicator lights no feedback of any sort showing it was on. Took it back to bestbuy and was given a replacement. The replacement worked decently for about 3 months. Then, quit accepting remote input. The remote was working fine, the sound bar wasn't responding. I contacted Polk and they sent another remote even though I had told them the original remote was working. The new remote didnt change anything. The next step was for them to send ANOTHER new sound bar. I was to receive a tracking number within a couple days. I waited 4 weeks with no response. I emailed and called only for them to tell me the unit was on backorder and they will get back within a couple days with an update. 2 weeks later, still no response or solution for the problem. Lousy customer support and at this point, a horrible product. I don't think I'll waste my money on a Polk product again.

Packs a punch !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This slim profile bar with 3 HDMI inputs delivers quality surround sound. Set it up in my Family room that opens to the Kitchen and this thing can handle big spaces well. The wireless subwoofer works great and provides the punch when watching movies.

You Get What You Pay For
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to other home theater sound systems, the Magnifi Max is fairly reasonably priced. Bestbuy made the price even better with $100 knocked off the retail price. I was excited to give the system a shot since I had just purchased two Google Home Max speakers. The Magnifi Max has Chromecast built in, which means you can connect it to other speakers for multi-room audio. It's amazing when it works. The problem is, it doesn't work, or at least mine didn't. I unboxed the system, set it up, and started watching Star Wars. I couldn't wait to hear the booming subwoofer. But, when it boomed, it crackled loudly. I never maxed out the volume on the system, but it sounded like I had blown the speaker. I got on the phone with customer support. Their hours are something like 8-5 EST, not super convenient for customers who have to work or who live on the other side of the country. The representative I spoke to was nice enough, but he couldn't help me. He said I'd have to talk to his boss. Ok, cool, let's talk. However, I'd have to wait for his boss to call me back in the next 24 hours. Seriously? His boss must be very busy, but so am I. What was I supposed to do, wait by the phone for this guy to call me back? I returned the system to Bestbuy, who took good care of me and let me exchange the item. Polk could learn something from Bestbuy customer service.

Best soundbar/subwoofer combo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This offers incredible sound for TV, movies, gaming, records, digital music streaming, you name it. Great Soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a quality soundbar that had multiple HDMIs and the ability to control the center channel (voice) volume. This is it. Retired an old sound system for this much cleaner look and did not sacrifice on the sound quality and can stream Bluetooth music now. Easy controls and was totally plug and play - super easy set up. Sub is a little big if you have serious space issues but sounds great. It has a ARC HDMI port as well so I only need one cable to the TV for everything. Highly recommended.

Don't Buy it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for Christmas. Sounded great in the store, but after getting it home, found that there was no way to set it up or troubleshoot accept for Google Home. No other way to connect to the Soundbar at all. So, after 2 months of use we had a power outage in our neighborhood, and all our appliances came back on line just fine, except for the Polk soundbar. It powered on, but would not produce sound, or respond to any commands from the keys on the soundboard or from the remote. It would no longer let the cable signal through to our tv. It just has an orange light blinking on the front. We tried the re-set button on the back. No luck. Calling in for support tomorrow...
