Another great buy at half price

At full price, these speakers rival ones at twice the price. At half price, I can't imagine a better buy. I bought two sets and the 10-" subwoofer for a surround system that is everything I could have hoped for. You could use these as full-range speakers; especially for close situations. The sound quality is transparent and airy, no spitty high end or honky midrange. For some people, these speakers will seem large for use in a surround system. They are not easily hidden. But they sound a lot better than the 4-inch cubes you can demo at the store.

Make sure you know what you are getting which is just clean sound. These are bookshelf speakers so do not expect any bass but the mids and highs are great. I have these with a powered sub that I turn on when I want to fill the house but sometimes I will leave that off if I am just looking for some background music during dinner or while working from home.

Was looking for bookshelf speakers to listen to among other things, my reel to reel tapes but these fit nicely in my entertainment center area in addition to my surround sound sytem. Great appearance and quality of sound for the money.

I bought a vintage Pioneer Sx-780 receiver for the bedroom and needed some bookshelf speakers. I chose the T-15s because of the Polk Audio reputation and the good reviews. I was amazed at the sound clarity and power these little gems produce. Bass response is adequate and clear not muffled, while the highs and mids are crisp and clear. I was so impressed that I am going back to buy a second pair for my vintage Kenwood receiver in the den and putting away the monster JVC floor speakers. These baby's rock!

    Excellent Budget Buy

I'm no audiophile but I'm no simpleton either. Electronics on a budget can be very tricky. The sales guy encouraged me to compare the Pioneer bookshelf speakers (on sale) against these. I was surprised at how muffled the Pioneers sounded compared to the PolkAudio. It was slightly over budget but with my RZ certificate I broke even. All in all these speakers are the perfect choice between the lower/entry level Pioneer and the arguably over-priced Klipsch. I'm happy with my purchase.

So for $100, they have wonderful build quality and ok sound. They sound better as rear surround speakers, but I had these setup with my vinyl to test them, and they can't hold a candle to mildly more expensive Klipsch R-51Ms. They work well, but quickly fail in comparison to other, similarly priced speakers. High quality build, ok sound, and boring looks. They're fine, but not really worth it.

These were at the Best By rear desk as an open box. For $30 I HAD to get them. Took them home. they sat in the box for a few days til I found appropriate living quarters for them. They ended up in my basement workshop with an older JVC 100w receiver. WOW was i surprised with what sound these jr speakers could produce. Nothing earthshaking, but clear and enough punch to power over a myriad of power tools. Pleasantly surprised and as long as your not throwing an AC/DC tribute party, I'm sure these will sound great for you too. Gotta love POLK Audio, they've been doing it right for years

Purchased these for my spare room. These have very good sound quality and appear to be well constructed. Fit, form and function are all very high quality. I'm thinking about getting another set and replacing some older (and much larger) speakers in my den.

I was really dissapointed with the sound of these speakers.I wasnt expecting much..and I got less. They will get loud without distorting and they are built sturdy. They also are small so that was a good thing. But After 2 days I returned them. They are so midrange that its annoying. If youre looking for something for the shop as background noise..I would recommend them.If your looking for sound quality, definitely not these speakers!

Great speakers. This speakers will take atleast 40hrs of loud play to break in. So dont judge their sound quality in the first few play. Let them play loud but not more than 60% vol for the first week. I am sure anyone will be very pleased with the sound at this price. Happy to get it. Thank you Best Buy

Took a chance at $50, but still returned them

I compared these at the store against the Klipsh kb15, Bose 302, Polk tx110 and Pioneer bs22. These were by far the dullest sounding of the lot, but I know the BB testing arena can be challenging to give a fair test, so for $50 I said what the heck. Home they came. Out of the box, they sounded a little better in my setup, but still disappointing. I let them play for 2 days ( ~20 hours) at a fairly decent volume. They still sounded veiled and muted, like something was muffling the sound. And this was compared to my old cheapie Sony speakers. Weird. I would like to say they might be good as rear/surround speakers (especially for $50) , but there is no highs to speak of. A day or two later the Klipsch kb15 went on sale for $130. I bought those and A/B ed the Polk and Klipsches right up to the 15 day return date on the Polks. No contest. I returned the Polks and kept the KB15s with the only regret being spending over my $100 limit. . The Klipsch sound? No harsh highs ( as sometimes is reported) and the detail and clarity is exceptional. i found bBoth speakers need a sub to be used as a L/R main speaker. Maybe not a fair comparison as the Polks retail for $99 and the Klipschs retail for $249....(which is overpriced in my book). I would have loved to compare the TSX110 and the klipsch kb15 at home, but I didn't want to play the buy/play/return game anymore. I liked the KB15s over the TSX110 at the store, and I'd imagine that would continue in my home setup as well. If I didn't expect more from Polk, i would have given these speakers 3 stars

    Excellent Surrounds, Poor Center Channel

    Posted .

Our old cheap speakers were struggling to pick up dialgoue, and ambient surround sounds were drowning it out. We decided to upgrade the speaker system a step at a time, and this was recommended to us - we got both a right and left (front) instead of a mid, as we were told this would fix the problem. The sound was better, cleaner and crisper sounding - but we were still short the mids for the dialogue, and had to return these to get a center channel. If I were to use these for surrounds, I would buy them again - but they absolutely will not replace a quality center channel speaker.

    Too much hype

I was happy when I saw the price for these drop to 49.99. I purchased a set based on all the reviews but realized after trying them out on movies and music they were just OK. I have never had a pair of Polks that I really loved but for $50 bucks what the heck. I purchased some JBL Arena 120's and these speakers impressed me. They were a bit more money when not on sale but they sounded so much richer. The JBL speakers were in a non ported cabinet as well. The highs and mids were far better than the Polks. I feel the majority of these reviews are based on value and not on sound.
