Wow! Nice upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yamaha 6.1 surround sound front L & R main speakers replaced (after 12 years) with these Polks. Really nice. Rich full bodied sound with excellent distinction between lows, mids and highs. Really impressive. Fills the room, 4K blue rays totally awesome. Just music: streaming, radio or CD EXCELLENT! In the book shelf category I’ve seen $500.00 each. Yikes! In the under $150.00 a pair range these are your choice. No compromise, Polk would not sellout and slap their name on a cheap speaker just to get sales. This is a quality speaker. As the main front L & R channels for our surround sound system these speakers are really impressive. I love being alive during these technology driven times. It means you can get an excellent product at a really fair price via the competing market place. And, Polk stepped-up for sure. Unless you’re an audiophile already use to thousand dollar speakers you will love these for a long time. Ps we have a 3 thousand dollar Khlips set-up in our entertainment room so I am use to listening to a very nice 7.1 surround system. So, with some sound knowledge I am definitely recommending these Polk Book shelf speakers.

Excellent quality
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being used as part of our 6.1 surround sound system. Front L and R channels. Could not be happier. Price point, size and quality are all perfect for our needs. Our living room is about 15x32 entertainment center on center wall (of 32’ walk) sofa and other seating across. The Polks accompany a Polk center channel, Yamaha Sub & back L/R/C (original equipment) part of the Yamaha system. The front Polks are crisp and clean. They can be cranked-up too with no signs of distorting. Although it’s rare to get past 6 or 7 on a 10 scale volume control for movies, I have rocked it playing music - def great sound. A larger room may need bigger but a room 15x32 these Polks are plenty. Wow! Nice! We’ve been using them 2 years now before submitting this review. Excellent/recommended rating.

Wife-Approved look and Awesome sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these to replace an LG soundbar that had a wireless subwoofer that died twice and as a result had weak low frequency sound by itself. These Polk's without a sub would be amazing but with an added subwoofer make a great home theater experience on a budget. Also their slick appearance and small size with wall-mounting support made it easy for my wife to approve of them in our living room too!

Good bang for buck.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these to fill in as surrounds in my bedroom. I will say that I am quite impressed with the overall quality that these provide for the price. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate AV fanatic, these speakers will likely do the job for what you need them to do. Sure we are not talking about a Hi-Fi system, but these are still fairly good if they are paired up to a good receiver. The speakers do open up more once they break in. That break in period will vary for everyone, but give them some time to make a full decision. I have the hooked up to a Denon AVR-S700 series receiver and after a few weeks of listening I grow more impressed with them. I always catch myself looking around the room when I hear sounds I hadn't heard previously. TV, movies and music all sound much better with these bad boys as surrounds. You could probably even get away with using them in a simpler 2.1 setup as your main L/R channels and still enjoy them more than regular TV speakers. Plus they can be moved into other areas of your surround system as you build it up (which you most likely will, once the AV bug bites it is hard to stop).

Good value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would buy these again. They are small enough to hang on your wall and not look too much like they should be on a shelf. Good sound. Polk is a great brand and they do not let you down with these speakers.

Q: QuestionAre these compatible with wired stereo systems?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Polk Audio 5-1/4" Bookshelf Speakers are compatible with wired stereo systems. These speakers need a Stereo Receiver / Amp to power them, they do not have an Amp build in. They handle 100 watts @ peak power so they would be good for an Stereo Receiver / Amp with about 85 watt out put or as rear speakers on a surround system.

Q: Questionwhat specific mounting hardware is needed to mount these to the wall?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer They have a keyhole cut into back of speaker that will allow them to be flush mounted with a well placed/secure screw. Or Best Buy sales a nice set of speaker mounts in their TV department. Usually located adjacent to the flat screen mounts.

Q: Questionpowerful party speakers for laptophaveing a party and my brother is the (DJ) so i want something that has alot of sound for a decetn price. also an added woofer would be nice.
Asked by Ian.
- A:Answer These bookshelf speakers are excellent and but it depend on the DJ equipment powering the speakers. I have an Onkyo receiver I tested with my set and it work well at low-mid volume but higher volumes may be too much. If you have a stereo receiver and not I high end amplifier, these speakers will more than serve it purpose.

Q: QuestionDoes these speakers have built in amplifiers
Asked by Donna.
- A:Answer No, they do not. You would need to connect them to an amp/ receiver.
Answered by Derek
Q: QuestionWhat else I also need to setting it? Cable? Thank you.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You will need speaker cable to connect the speaker to your stereo receiver. I'd recommend "Rocketfish - 50' Speaker Wire - 16AWG - Gold" cable.
