This thing is brilliant, at least in my car. The GPS never moves, no matter what. No more suction cups falling off the window. Highly recommend this mount.

This Garmin - Portable Auto Friction Mount for Select Garmin GPS seems to be a good mount for the unit. It does not stick to the instrument panel as well as I thought it would, but I cut a slot in my dashmat and it seems to be holding okay so far. The mount is a pretty large unit but seems to be sturdy.

I was skeptical that this design would actually stay in place and not go flying off at the first sharp turn. The first thing I did was go to an empty parking lot and take tight, fast turns in both directions. It didn't move. In 6 months of use, it hasn't moved. I think it works for three reasons. 1. Its base is fairly sticky -- not stick-on, just permanently tacky so that it does not slide. It's far better than suction clamps, as they do not make a seal on the textured dashboards. 2. The base is weighted. 3. The base is flexible but keeps its shape once bent. So it further resists sliding because it conforms to the curve of the dash. When you move it from one rig to another, you press it into the new shape. I thought it kind of pricy at $20, but I am very happy with it.

The Portable Auto Friction Mount for Select Garmin GPS units sits on the dashboard on console without slipping or moving. This means that there's no more sticking it on the windshield (where it leaves ring marks) and no need to catch it when it falls off. It's also easier to pack up the GPS and put it out of sight when it's not in use.

I bought this friction mount for my Garmin Nuvi 5 inch screen and surprising is pretty steady on the dash board. At first thought it may slide but held down well. I drive a Toyota RAV4 and the ride is bumpy at times but the friction mount worked well. I originally used the factory supplied suction cup to mount on the windshield and worked well for a year but eventually the suction cup sorta melted around the edges from the hot sun beating on windshield and no longer holds. The only issue I noticed is that the base leaves an oily residue stain on the dash board. Other than that it functions well. You may want to check out the new bean bag style that I just noticed that BB carries by Garmin that looks smaller and may be better.

I've read a lot of reviews on plenty of portable mounts and I really wanted one that I didn't have to attach to my windshield. Well, I found the one. It is great! Lightweight, yet sturdy enough to not just flop all over the place. I traveled 2800 total miles and it was a savor.

I bought one 3 years ago because GPS mount kept falling off windshield. This mount worked great. Does not slide or move. When park just pickup and put under seat and no one sees your electronics. I have bought 3 more since the first for all the cars. Quick, convenient and easy. I definitely recomend this mount.

I use this stand for my GPS on my car dashboard. It was easy to attach my Garmin and pivot the head so I can easily view it. The pivot is tight enough, though, that the GPS doesn't not wobble. The base is 'sticky' to stay on the dashboard through turns, rough road surfaces, and different temperatures. I kept the plastic that peeled off the base so I could put it back on the bottom so it wouldn't collect lint. I take it and my GPS off the dashboard daily so it does not entice burglary. I've only had it a month so I'm not sure what I'll do to wash the base when it gets dirty and hope it will 'stick' to the dashboard after I clean it.

The GPS friction mount works great, just place on your dash an it stays put, the old ones you stuck on the window didn't hold all the time an left a ugly circle. This friction mount works great an i would recommend it to anyone looking for a GPS mount

I bought this product because of the sleek look and functionality. I was not disappointed. Looks great on the dashboard of my Chrysler Pacifica. Rock solid stability. Does not move around and keeps my GPS in close reach. I love this product!

The friction mount is great. You can stick it anywhere on dash or console and it will not move. Unless you flip your vehicle and I don't recommend that. You won't have finger prints or ring marks. Just some advice keep your dash clean of dust or be sure to wipe spot you are sticking it with cloth before. Also don't lose or throw away the plastic sheet that stuck to it. You need to put that on when not in use. If you it will collect dirt or dusk from wherever you store it. Buy it and enjoy it's use.

One might not think that the Garmin friction mount would work very well but it does work quite well. You can bend it however you wish and it grips the dashboard quite well. I highly recommend it.

This works great for us. We put it up on the dash when we need it, it stays in place well and holds the GPS unit in whatever position I put it in. Great addition.

I like the idea that this product can be easily removed from the dash and does not leave a residue, yet stays in place and positions my GPS for easy viewing.

Easy to use, very stable, even when I make a sharp turn, the GPS isn't shaked. Comparing to the price, this one is a bargain. I would recommend this one to my friends, relatives.

I replaced my bean bag mount that I had toted around for 2 years. I travel for work and it took a beating. This replacement has been heavy enough with a non-skid surface to stay on the dash well and it's compact size fits nicely into my backpack with the rest of my gear. Nice that it collapses and it weighs a little less on my back. Great product!
