    Friction mount is working better than I expected! I bought a new (to me) car which had a textured surface above my dash. I thought there would be difficulty in keeping the base in place. I've had the "new" vehicle for a couple of months and the GPS mount has not moved or come off the dash!!! I love it..!

    I purchased this stand to hold up in my second vehicle so I would not have to keep removing the suction cup for my GPS, as I found that this tends to wear it out faster. This works great in my second vehicle and I can just snap the GPS in and go. This brand seems to hold up longer than any other I've had in the past.

    This Garmin holder is very good for on the dash position and especially a not so flat dashboard. It is very stable and reliable. Windshield connectors/holders would lose their suction and eventually fall with Garmin device in it, This was of concern since I feared damage eventually to my GPS device.

    I have owned the other friction mount from Garmin in the past, and that one was starting to loose its grip and really starting to slide around the dash, this "Garmin - Portable Auto Friction Mount for Select Garmin GPS - Black" is solid and actually has a smaller footprint and really stays put!
