You actually set the controller sideways on the charger and then must push down to click it into charging position. The same thing must happen to pick the controller back up. The only problem I really have with this charger is that I generally power down or put the ps4 into sleep mode and sometimes when trying to click it into charging position, I accidentally hit buttons that reactivates the ps4. Other than that minor annoyance from time to time, it works as expected and I have no real complaints.

You get what you pay for

By looking at the products package, you get the idea that it is a simple charging station. The problem I noticed is the way you have to activate the charger. The controller has to be push down and activated it. The controller doesn't sit in the location stable enough to push down. Other chargers plug right in to the port where as you have to set the controller on its location and press.down to get the terminals to connect. It does not activate smoothly.
