I am able to just snap my PS4 control in and it charges. The charge time seems not to long to me and it's nice to not have the controller connected to the PS4 for charging.

Awesome Charger

It is both a charging station and a controller stand when the PS4 isnt being used. The option to not charge is great so that it doesnt kill the internal batteries of the dualshock4 when the controller is place on it as a controller stand while the PS4 isnt being used. Awesome charger for the price!
