When pushed in, the controller charges. When it is not pushed, the controller does charge. This is very useful as the charger can be used as a cradle for the controllers. It also uses the port next to the headphone jack on the bottom of the controller, which means the controllers charge upright unlike other chargers. It makes the charger with the controllers look cool.

I never have two dead controllers anymore!

No fumbling with cords, no accidentally turning off the system so the controller doesn't charge overnight. When I turn my system back on, I always have a charged controller. For $15 on sale, this was everything I've ever needed.
