I've bought this grip a second time after thinking the first was a fluke, but have had the same experience with both. The joycons will not lock in place and slide out when pushing up on controller (and I'm talking a slight push, not hulk-like force). I ended up putting tape on the back to hold the joycons in place... with added gorilla tape, 4 stars. I'm comparing this to the stock Switch grip, which works amazingly. The grips lock in place and only slide out when needed. I only wish I could find those grips available somewhere right now. The grip itself feels good and I'd recommend it for casual games (ie: not smash bros, but animal crossings is fine). Every time I push up on a controller, it slides out of the grip... Unless my handy gorilla tape has it locked down. Overall, I'd only recommend it for games that don't rely on slightly more aggressive pushes on the joucons.
