Hard to control, difficult to learn. It's okay I guess, I thought it would be more like Diablo

Bloodborne is my favorite souls game, good lore good gameplay, and weapons. I think Dark souls I had better music and maybe more better boss battles but really bloodborne makes up for it in gameplay, lore, and atmosphere. Even though bloodborne has significantly less weapons than dark souls, the weapons that bloodborne does have are more intricate and complex and just generally better designed. 10/10 game.

    2015 Game of the Year

This was my first foray into the Souls franchise. The setting was very appealing to me, Victorian gothic mixed with Lovecraft-esque cosmic horror. The combat is much faster paced and action oriented than the Dark Souls games. The "trick weapons" which you can transform between different modes add a lot of fun variety, and many of the game's mechanics encourage you to be aggressive, like the regain system where you have a window to recover lost health if you damage enemies, or the extremely powerful roll/dodge spam which allows you to safely get close to attack. Souls games have a reputation for punishing difficulty, but this is not true for Bloodborne in my experience. Yes, fights can sometimes be very tough, but they are always fair. Death feels like your fault, your failure in execution. Plentiful unlockable shortcuts in the environment combined with spamming the roll button allow you to run to the boss quickly with relative ease and minimal enemy contact. Finally, the loss of XP or health vials when dying is annoying but only a minor hindrance, since you can readily regain anything you lost from one of many farming spots. In conclusion, definitely give this game a shot, even if you think it might be "too hard" for you. I'm definitely not an expert in these kinds of games, but I still managed to get the platinum trophy with not that much difficulty.

When purchasing this game it was nice to get Bloodborne. But after installing the updates and finally getting to play the game one minute into loading I get an error saying the disc cannot be read due to it being dirty or having scratches on it. I popped it out of the console and tried it again. Same deal after one minute. So after cleaning the disc for any dirt or smudge marks the disc worked for five minutes and then the error showed up. Selling discs like these to the public with conditions like this isn't a good sales practice at all. I plan to return the game before the period to return it is up but I hope the store I bought it from checks to see if the games can be played for hours a session without any errors forcing you to remove the disc or the game unnaturally crashing at certain areas.

This game is gorgeous and frustrating as hell! I bought Demon's Souls, played it for about a week, and took it back to Best Buy and traded it in. Then Dark Souls & Dark Souls II came out and I passed on them. I thought no way!! But this game caught my eye. There was something about the environment, the enemies, the weapons, etc. So I thought I would give it a try. Bloodborne is very much like the other games developed by From. The enemies' battle style, the scale and difficulty of the enemies, etc. If you aren't not into farming games you may not like this one. I am not and I am still having a hard time accepting it. It can be very redundant and boring. You spend so much time repeating the same area over and over, trying to level up, that it takes the enjoyment out of the game. Yes it is a beautiful environment so you don't mind seeing it but yet it's like, come on already, really?!?! I've only made it past the first boss and have been spending much of my time trying to level up to get past the second boss which I have fought about five times and lost every time thus far. Out of those five times I was very close once. Otherwise he totally destroyed me in a matter of seconds. The combat system feels easier and more responsive than in past games by From. But that does not help much. I am giving it four stars due to the fact that I feel it's just too difficult. Also for the fact that you have to farm so much to level up. If they would have just gotten away from that style of game and made it slightly easier for you to level up and progress, I would without a doubt have given it five stars.

Made me fall in love with gaming again

This game is beautiful, brutal, unforgiving, it breaks you down but then pulls your back up again. It's probably one of the hardest games I've played in years, and while absolutely frustrating at the worst of times, it is incredibly satisfying at it's best. I've been pretty disappointed since the PS4 launched with the lack of challenging and rewarding games. I can't stand grindy games like Destiny or collect-a-thons like Assassin's Creed, so Bloodborne was a real breath of fresh air. It is in fact the first PS4 game that I can't stop playing. Sure I've died constantly and I've been tempted to throw the Dual Shock 4 at the TV, but that moment when you finally kill that boss that's been destroying you for hours will give you an adrenaline rush that will make it all worth it in the end. I would not recommend this game for people with high blood pressure, anxiety problems, heart problems, etc. There's a ton of jump scares all through the game, and the difficulty is very high. It's also full of blood, gore and generally creepy stuff. It's not a game that will appear to everyone, but it is absolutely one of the best game you can buy right now if you're looking for a challenge.
