    Monster Hunter.. To the X-TREME

Monster Hunter Generations is the next step in the series, and what a step it is. It introduces new mechanics -- some that should stay and others that need some work -- but the main additions are the new Hunter Styles/Arts and the Prowler 'class.' Hunter Styles are a fantastic addition as it gives multiple flavors for each weapon type and Hunter Arts are like these 'super moves' that typically do a ton of damage if they connect. While there are some questionable balance decisions (Gunlance nerfs, Striker Switch Axe, Adept Long Sword...) the game is an absolute blast to play. It isn't that difficult in comparison to previous entries, but do not take that as it being an easy game. Monster Hunter Generations is a very difficult game that expects the player to learn it's mechanics and the monster's tells to succeed. Its a game about growing as a hunter and learning the monster's. Gathering has been improved dramatically via Prowlers due to them having infinite stamina and infinite gathering items (pickaxes, bug nets, etc). This one small improvement fixes a huge barrier for new players. All-in-all, Monster Hunter Generations is more of a sidestep in the series rather than the next full-fledged sequel to the series. Its an experimental title and a celebration of the Monster Hunter series, but it's a dang good celebration. It belongs in any 3DS owner's library.

The Monster Hunter games are fun, but are all a bit hard to get into. This game is a bit less slow at the start, but the combat styles they added in are an extra learning curve. There's no G rank this time, but you ended up getting a similar challenge later on anyway.

Seriously this is probably my favorite 3DS game of all time. I love the lowered difficulty of the game! It's still challenging at times but it's a much more fair kind of challenging. It has a steep learning curve but once you learn what you have to do and how to manage your items and equipment, you're in for a REWARDING experience.

This game is a "remix" of several different "maps" from all the MH games. It is also the easiest for newcomers. Whether or not it's better than 4 is debatable but their both a great experience. Honestly I tell my friends to just start here.

As a previous Monster Hunter player, Generations is another great entry in the series. I found it much easier to get into this one, as it does a better job of easing a new player into the game.

The game has been great so far, especially with the new styles! The graphics are good and gameplay is fast. The game gets harder overtime, but I'm familiar with the series.
