Another season of NBA action has descended upon us, and NBA 2K16 does a commendable job of simulating the sport while taking a few chances and doing something new along the way. While not everything pans out perfectly, this latest iteration in the series is still a solid game. The 2K series has been ahead of NBA Live for some time, and this year that pattern remains the same. On the one hand, NBA Live fared far better this season, while NBA 2K16 remains very similar to the prior games. While the 2K series is still well ahead of its competition, it will be interesting to see if the NBA Live series can continue to improve its game next year. Probably the most notable change to the franchise is the new take on the MyPLAYER mode. This has always been my favorite mode, and that holds true again with this year's release. You create a player and you are tasked with improving him game by game, year by year in the pursuit of the Hall of Fame. However, things get off to a very different start right off of the bat in this year's release.

I'm a diehard 2k fan and 16 is definitely one of the best games that I've played. The graphics are flawless as they are most years. The MyCAREER was crafted very well by Spike Lee although one of the characters gets annoying at times. The flow of the game is great but has one flaw. Every time you want to pull a spin move off, the defender always manages to find a way to knock the ball loose. The CPU's ability to adapt their defense according to how you run your offense also adds realism to the game. For example, you could run a successful pick & roll once, but if you try to run it again, the defender will actually come above the screen and step in front of you. Overall, another year, another awesome game.

Walking past my son's room, I thought he was watching an NBA game not playing one. Graphics are amazing. My son loves creating his player and team. He plays online as well. Money well spent.

NBA 2K has long been the premiere NBA game on the market. 2K16 continues that legacy with subtle improvements and expanded features. If you love NBA, this is the perfect game for you.

Growing up, the premier basketball games used to be EA's NBA Live series. However, around ten years ago, they ceded their position to 2K/Visual Concepts, and NBA2K has dominated ever since. Each subsequent year, the 2K team tries to do things that really separate the games from their predecessors, whether its new modes, added online functionality, or improved gameplay. This year's game does the same, with Spike Lee attempting to create a memorable experience of a player's rise from obscurity to becoming a star in the NBA. Granted, the name 'Frequency Vibrations' is hilariously stupid, but you can't help but admire the risk-taking of Lee/2K in trying to do something more that makes players more invested in the game. Visually amazing and fun to play, I would definitely recommend this to anybody who's a basketball fan, and hope that somehow 2K could convince the NCAA to make another 2K College Hoops game in the same vein.

This game is more of a simulation than arcade style basketball game. That being said, it is a lot of fun. There are enough game modes to keep you interested and playing for a while. Of course, the graphics are good and the presentation is well done.

Great graphics, gameplay, and updated rosters. The "My Player" mode is a pain in the beginning though due to a drawn out "Spike Lee Joint". It is a movie going on inbetween games and gets a little ridiculous. Overall, the game is very good

I wish I was a baller. OK, Skeelo aside, I haven't played a virtual basketball game in about a decade. I bought this for the Spike Lee joint, and stayed for the basketball. If you're a Spike Lee fan, I'm sure you'll love it. Me, I'm kind of hit or miss for the director, but I enjoy some hoops. There's plenty of that and then some here. I didn't care much for Spike's contribution, it felt forced and heavy handed in the best of times. I won't say much more for fear of spoilers, but I do love that huge directors are starting to notice the video game format, and hopefully that makes way for more of the same. The basketball aspect is a lot of fun, from someone that has exclusively played career mode. Very much enjoying whooping on the a.i. as it were. But I don't think I'd stick around for the story, exclusively.

NBA 2k16 is a solid offline basketball game. It plays smooth and gameplay is easy and intuitive. A few new additions to mycareer and myGM are solid as well. However, there are issues that hurt this game in other ways. The servers are completely unbearable and loading times are long, hindering the online experience because the online modes are great, but they never work. Also, the Spike Lee directed story is cheesy and scripted, even though the addition of a college team is cool. It feels like you know what's going to happen next. Overall, it's a fantastic offline game and a few new additions try to freshen things up, but its online struggles and weak my career make 2k16 a game not worth purchasing if you already have 2k15.
