Surprised by how well this works on a handheld...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that this is NOT as good as the version on the WiiU. That said, this is a very good option for those who: A.) Don't have WiiU B.) Want a portable Smash game C.) Have more friends with the 3DS version (after all, this is a multiplayer game) D.) Some/All of the above. My main concern when buying this game for the 3DS was the control scheme - how well would this game translate to a handheld console when most people are used to playing this with a Gamecube controller that is NOTHING like the 3DS? I'd say I'm surprised with the results, and it doesn't take that long to get used to at all. The visuals/graphics are also better than I expected when watching videos on YouTube. If you are gaming on a handheld, you already aren't expecting the latest/greatest gaming graphics, but you don't want the ugly textures and such to get in the way of enjoying an entry into a remarkably successful game franchise. I feel that this has happened for me a couple of times with past handheld consoles (GameBoy Advance, specifically), but trust me - with this version you won't get that at all. Gameplay-wise, you're getting everything you'd imagine with a Smash game, including a fantastic roster of characters with unique moves/attacks. The multiplayer aspect works well with people you are with on the same network, but online multiplayer has been a little hit and miss for me. I'd say 10% of the time I'm not able to get into a match when taking on online opponents. For the WiiU version, I've never had connection difficulties (using the same WiFi network). That said, I don't think that detracts from the experience of this game to deduct a star. To wrap up - this game is everything you'd want from a Smash game, and now you are able to take it with you. It is a perfect game to pick up if you are looking for a great multiplayer title that most people you encounter will likely have.

Really good game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this game and like it. That graphic is improve over Nintendo 64 game and look so good. Fun to fight with different characters in different area. Be careful don't force circle pad hard or you can end up to break your circle pad. I saw news on internet, some people broke their circle pad on their Nintendo 3DS/XL and New Nintendo 3DS/XL for to sent to Nintendo company to repair. That is what I need to avoid much pressure on circle pad for reasons. I would like to use D-pad instead from circle pad, but Nintendo company made flaw design for this game. But we need to be more careful.

An impressive handheld game that is a lot of fun
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it might seem that this game isn't really essential now that the Wii U version of Smash Bros is out, this game still stands out on its own for th classic Smash Bros gameplay, the impressive graphics, and of course, the pick up and play nature of a portable. I love playing this on the train to get my Smash Bros. fix.

A definitive flagship title
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been away from the Smash scene since the N64 days. It seems a lot has changed and there are a plethora of new characters. Characters have new smash attacks (which are basically charged hard hitting attacks). The gameplay is great. All characters have their own strengths and weaknesses. There is a learning curve in regards to which moves work well and which do not. One big gripe is the mapping of the control scheme. With the inclusion of a tilt and smash mechanic on one button, you have to spend time learning how to initiate both. The c-stick makes no difference and doesn't really enhance the Smash experience. The possibility of accidentally performing a smash move when attempting a tilt move when under pressure can make or break you at high damage percentages. It is quite disappointing when they have two buttons dedicated to jump when only one is needed. But all in all, the king of brawlers retains the crown. But all in all

Smash on the go, perfect adaptation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new smash is great, gameplay is halfway between Melee offensive and Brawl defensive. So much content and hours of fun. 3DS version feels almost like the real thing.

A must own on 3DS!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smash 3DS is one of the biggest surprises I've ever had in gaming. I was skeptical about Smash Bros on a portable -- but they've done an excellent job bringing the Smash Bros experience to the handheld. There is some differentiation between this and the WiiU version - but they make experience more complete given the system you're playing on. I like the game modes exclusive to the 3DS version better than the WiiU one. I've actually played this version more than the WiiU one. It's my goto source of entertainment when traveling or waiting around in boring places.

The best Smash yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to the last three games, this has got to be the best. The roster is nice with all the newcomers, but it's sad to see so many go(SNAAAAKE!!!!). Also, the level selection and extra content such as mini games seems to be lacking. However, the reason for buying it, straight up smash, is tons of fun.

Beat up buddies over Wifi!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always did think that this series would benefit from being on a handheld console. Between that, this making the 3DS a controller for the WiiiU, I'm hoping this is a preview of there being for interaction between Nintendo's consoles. Amiibo Support is available for this as well, way to go Nintendo!

Smash-ing Success!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is amazing! I can't believe Nintendo actually pulled it off, they managed to properly put Smash Bros on a handheld without losing any of the elements that makes Smash Bros so great. That said, Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS is an incredibly addicting fighting game. But it's far more than just a fighting game. It has an impressive amount of content for a 3DS game. This game really pushes the 3DS to its limits. You can play online, you can play with your friends locally, you can collect trophies, you can use the streetpass feature, and so much more! If you own a Nintendo 3DS you owe it to yourself to check this game out.

Finally, you can smash anywhere!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always been a huge fan of the Smash series, but I'm so glad I'm able to take my 3DS anywhere and know that there is probably someone out there who wants to battle. It's best when you're waiting in line for an amiibo release and there are others to play with!
