This game is a prequel that takes place before the other Yakuza games in the series. It tells the stories of two characters, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima. This is a welcome and excellent addition to the series. I would recommend it to mature gamers that enjoy gritty epic storytelling.

Cool Japanese game with quirky mini games. Combat is super fun! Lots of interesting characters.

I highly recommend this game. Excellent story, and all the main mission and side quests will keep you occupied for hours.

only if you like Japanese version GTA, the story is good but not total free world compare with GTA

This game give you the type of drama and suspense you would get in a full big budget Asian directed movie. Voice acting is on point and the game paces the action out perfectly, I highly recommend it to those want a break from the traditional action genre!!

I've never played the Yakuza series. I bought this because it was under $20 and it looked cool. Turns out its a fun brawler and has great anime/Japanese setting and culture. Very detailed environments and great quests, hilarious characters. Worth a purchase.

Game is truly open world. So much to do. So much to see. Catch it while its on sale.

Well this is a highly rated game don't get me wrong. Nice combat system and all, it's not really open world. The map is limited of course. Just don't expect a map size that big compared to maybe one of the earlier GTAs. But anyhow nice dialogue and cinematic cutscenes if you're into the anime scene. I'm really that much into it but others will. This is a great series to get into regards to a prequel of the yakuza series. This however is my first yakuza game played.

This prequel to the Yakuza series offers all of the gameplay fans of the franchise have come t expect.

Of the yakuza series don't pass this up! For the price..Mt he story can't be beat!

I'm not a very good reviewer. I mean, I liked the game a lot. It does go into a bit of the back story that's set before Yakuza 1 or the remake of the first, Yakuza Kiwami. I've enjoyed most of the Yakuza series except for Dead Souls but only because I haven't played that one. The best way I can describe this series is that it's a Beat'em Up with a bit of RPG elements. Give it a shot. It's technically the first story in the entire series.

The game is good but it has a lot of cutscenes. It's understandable as it is a story focused game.

I haven't beat this game yet, but I'm enjoying it. It is a good launching point to get into this series.

This is my first time playing a Yakuza game and I've had a lot of fun. Some of the fighting can get a bit repetitive, but the story is solid. Since the dialog is all in Japanese, you'll be reading a lot of subtitles. Just be aware that the game will sometimes pop up a few tutorial tips while you're trying to read subtitles at the same time, which can be distracting. Overall though, a fun intro into the world of Yakuza.

Now that the price has dropped due to being added to the Playstation Hits label, there's really no excuse for fans of the series to miss it. A prequel featuring many of the series' favorites, and a great way to start into the series for new players.
