This thing was expensive but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. My hands started to hurt after playing some longer session with the joycon slide controller. This pro controller is worth every penny. It is perfect for my hands, no more thumb pain. Love it! Always works great, no problems, and charges with a USB-c (it does come with a charging cord), but that also means I can charge it with my phone cord if I'm feeling too lazy to put the controller back. I also love how it's slightly transparent, it looks and feels sophisticated.

The pro controller is a great alternative to the joy con. It's basically an Xbox 360/One controller. I've had it for 3 weeks, and no issues so far. Battery life is great, durability seems fine, and it does the job. A pro controller might be a good fit for any Switch user because the joy cons seem to be having some issues with reliability and/or durability. Not all joy cons, but I have heard that the durability of the joy cons leaves a little to be desired. This is a great alternative. Even if you aren't a Xbox user, a PlayStation user would be perfectly fine adjusting to this controller. It's comfortable, reliable, and easy.

I never had any intentions of purchasing a Pro controller, but after hearing about its battery life and comfort level from different podcasts I decided to give it a try and have no regrets. I've only charged it one so far it's not showing any signs of giving up. The buttons feel smooth and games like Zelda and Mario Kart player better in longer sessions because of it. I know the price tag may turn may away, but my advice is to get a Pro controller if you don't have a second set of joycons. This way you can player any 2 player game without having to rely on splitting the joycons, and you still have the option of 3 player sessions between the two controllers.

This controller is one of the best I have ever had from Nintendo. It's seriously a must for anyone who plays regularly, it fits the hands so much better and you won't get cramps from it like the basic unit that comes with the consoles where the Joycons slide into. It's a little expensive especially compared to how much Microsoft Xbox controllers or Sony Playstation controllers are.

Highest rated controller for a reason. (It's also a bank crusher.) There's two things you probably aren't or won't be using it for that are pumping that price up: - NFC reader - gyroscopic sensor If you just went "what?", you wouldn't be alone. The controller has the capabilities to communicate with Amiibos (and other NFC devices), and it can utilize motion sensor controls. Two things people just aren't capitalizing on right now. But they're included tech, and so you pay more. Chances are you're reading this because of Ultimate. Well, I can assure you the controller is good enough for living room play. If you are pro-pro, you should be using a GameCube controller hooked up to the 4-port OFFICIAL Nintendo USB adapter. You will not find a more honest answer out there. That is the only way to really play Smash, and that's why those peripherals are now crazy expensive. But if you are reading this review because you want the best Switch designed controller available and want to play other games, there is no exceptions. You want this one. It's comfortable, responsive, long battery life, two push button analog sticks, and all the buttons to do all the things the system's designed to do. Yes it has "HD Rumble". No I do not believe in HD Rumble. HD Rumble means there's levels of rumble, as opposed to just having a tiny motor spin inside the controller at a set speed when a current runs through it. It is NOT a deal breaker and is not a requirement to play games. Honestly, I turn it off when it's annoying me too much, which you can do from the HUB menu on the Swtich. The charging chord that comes with it is USB-C and about 3' long. It will charge the controller and allow you to play with it simultaneously, but it does NOT set up a direct connection to the system. The controller is a wireless controller. I thought I'd share that because others probably won't. It's matte, so sweaty smudge marks don't show up as much (like on the Wii U controllers), but it does need to be wiped down occasionally. The grips are rubber which accelerates this issue. Trigger buttons are clicky, true to their digital design. Again, digital means it recognizes on and off. Analog means it recognizes quarter off, half off, 3/4 off. So if you half-press down the right trigger button, you either get a reaction, or you don't get a reaction. You don't get a "soft shield", like in Smash Bros. Melee. This product is not just recommended, it's practically required. Other controllers won't start up the system on a button press (Joy Cons will too, but that's another review).

I've been using some third party switch controllers for a while and after the a button started to get sticky on one, I decided to go ahead and just buy Nintendo's switch pro controller. What can I say other than it's an amazing controller in just about every way. It's comfortable, responds well, sturdy and has a premium feel. I would have liked if the d-pad was more similar to the old school ones on the Super Nintendo, but it's still an above average d-pad so that's really just my subjective preference.

Great controller. This thing absolutely destroys using the joycons with that cheap plastic mold looking controller you get from the console packaging. Wish it was priced at $45-$50 though. It’s for a Nintendo Switch which is $300 console offering lower graphics & performance. No reason is should be so high in price. Get it open box and you’ll be just fine. Saves you $10. Get this for playing while docked. It makes Skyrim really enjoyable!

The $10 price increase may be a tough pill to swallow vs standard XB or PS controllers, but this is a very good controller for Switch if you don't want to unplug the built-in joy-con's every single time you dock. It's more ergonomic than the Joy-Con's but the best parts is it has a built in battery with a long cord that attaches to the Switch Dock's USB ports for easy recharging - and - it has HD rumble functionality built in. That's the primary reason for the $10 upcharge imo, the HD rumble functionality, but it's a solid controller that sits just slightly under XB's Elite Controller in build quality and feature set.

I started looking at the pro controller after the stock controllers kept losing their signal. When using the stock controllers I'd have to make sure there was a clear line of sight or else button presses would not register, something that became super annoying. The pro controller fixed all of that. I no longer have to worry about clear line of sight and I no longer experience interruptions in the signal. Plus, the pro controller is a lot more comfortable. The controller itself is charged via a USB-C cable and is said to hold a charge for 40 hours of gameplay.

Typically I am not a fan of wireless products, had a few run out of juice in bad times, however you can have this one plugged in a charging while playing so you have that flexible option. Controller is comfortable to hold if you plan on logging a few hours, if you’re an adult and tried playing the Switch as a handheld unit you’ll notice a big difference right away. I still prefer the button layout of the Game Cube style controller, but I am still happy with this wireless pro. With the multiplayer games available having extra controllers around I a great thing!

Connected quickly (plug it into the dock, and then disconnect after it registers). Great battery life (got about 5 hours of gaming out of it before it started complaining). Better than 3rd party and wired controllers - so worth the premium price.

Love this controller i highly recommend. The switch itself gives my hand cramps and playing with joy cons ahh no... i mean unless i have to. Plus controller is comfortable wireless has where you can scan amiibos on it as well also the battery life is crazy good! Only complaint is it turns on if u hit any button which if u put into a bag etc is a pain. Only way to avoid is put switch into airplane mode i think someone said..
