Amazing Radar, Couldn't be happier

FINALLY! I couldn't be happier about this detector being launched. It's like the guys at Radenso heard my complaints about EVERY OTHER RADAR DETECTOR OUT THERE, listened, and did it one up. I'm sure you can hop on the forums and read the nerd stuff and it will tell you it's very quiet, excellent range, great filtering, auto lockout, hardwire/mute kit, etc. but what most reviews won't tell you are the EXACT amazing reasons I wanted this thing.
For starters, you can toggle on and off specific bands, turn down sensitivity for specific bands (hello annoying k band), COLOR CODE and TONE code each band. You can toggle on and off voice (do I REALLY need to hear which band it is when I can see the radar clearly and hear the tone I picked for each band? NOPE...ANOTHER +1 FOR DS1). I'm glad they moved away from some 1982 barrel plug (sorry 1982) and into the USB C world. If I had to find a flaw it would be the hardwire kit has a beefier cable than most, though it's actually a blessing because it stays tucked in the headliner / a-pillar MUCH better than the 24 gauge wires that typically come with radar detectors. My FAVORITE feature (and the reason you should buy this one if you are on the fence) is the selectable tones that I can choose from. I'm not sure why radar detector companies make the most annoying high pitched 'nails on a chalkboard' alerts for a radar alert. Guys...I'm driving around returning amazon packages to kohls, this isn't NAM. Just give me an alert that I can hear clearly but isn't piercing my soul with intensity, which is EXACTLY why I love this radar. There are a handful of tones that are gentle enough that it doesn't burst your ear drums yet you can hear it over your jams. This probably makes ZERO sense to you unless you've had other radar detectors out there that annoy you so bad you have to unplug it. There are a few other nice features I enjoy (like speed, direction, multiple band detection, a big mute button, easy menu system, etc.) but I think you get the point.
Cliffs : I couldn't be happier with this radar, nice work dudes at Radenso...nice work. It feels like you've had the same complaints about other radar detectors out there, and just decided to make a better one, then make a living out of it. At least that's what it feels like. Keep up the good work.

Completely satisfied with the performance and accuracy of the DS1. The more time spent using this device the more confident I am it is dependable. I am a long time user of a V1G1 with all updates and was skeptical any other device would be as good as it is. The DS1 has proven itself. Once you depend on arrows you do question a forward looking device often as you learn it. The truth is you are hearing a warning often longer than with the V1 so you tend to question it. I would recommend this to anyone out there who is considering a high end device. Register your purchase and buy the extended warranty through mfgr, it adds ticket protection/compensation so you have 2 claims if needed. I drive a C8 my only complaimt is mounting the device in a discreet way. There is no usb-c power tap from rear view mirror.

So far I’ve had this detector for about three weeks and it has done a great job. Picks up police radar well ahead and does a great job blocking out fake radar like X and K band with auto lockout( This is programmable by owner’s choice). This offers a programmable sensitivity and band levels. Display colors can be changed for each band level in as many 8 colors and has as many as 10 different sound alerts that can be set up for different bands at your choice.
The windshield mounting unit adheres well to the glass without worrying about falling off and the detector is easy to take down and put up.
I would highly recommend this product and for the money it has proven to me an excellent purchase.

This is the best radar detector I’ve used to date. Coming multiple units across brands and a lower end Radenso, this is by far the best yet. Detection distance is incredible and the false alerts are minimal with great filtering. It self learns any stationary false alerts quickly. The unit itself feels to be of high quality and the windshield mount is strong. The magnetic mounting method is just right. Strong enough to not come off in high velocity cornering or over rough roads, but easy enough to pull off if needed. This is hands down the best value in the ticket avoidance marketplace.

Purchased this for my wife's new X3. The ease of use and accuracy are amazing. The "mute" button directly on the front of it is perfect. So many fantastic features. Tone changing for each warning, color changing the screen, just amazing. Radenso support is also TOP NOTCH. I called them because I did not understand how to upgrade the firmware. I spoke with a real person, immediately, who had me up and running in 2 min. Fantastic. (it was my fault, I was using the wrong kind of cable) I plan on purchasing another unit for my car to upgrade from my Radenso Pro M. It's wonderful to see a company focused on delivering a quality product, and the service to go with it. Well done Radenso....

Great detector, extreme range, the display sucks in bright sunlight sometimes. It is loaded with lots of features. It is a souped up Uniden R3 platform under the hood, but lacks the LNA turbo power of the new upcoming Rd's (Uniden R4 & R8) You can't beat the price for this performance though. I have been professionaly testing Rd's for 25+ years in Texas.

The radenso DS1 is a very comprehensive radar detector with many customizable features. I have a lot to learn so I can maximize it's potential. I have watched several videos on its performance. They all agree that it has impressive range of detection (often the best performer), even for fast burst radar detection.
I am enjoying the ease of attaching it to the mount via the magnetic connector. The power cord attaches right side up or upside down, which ever way you prefer. It powers on and is ready to go right when you plug it in.
Setting the time zone was guessing game, but I did finally figure out the right zone for my area after 8 or 9 tries. A zone list in the instructions would have been helpful. Search up longitude time zones online to see what number you are. I think I was -6 for central time. At the time I didn't realize it was longitude zones, maybe this will save you a few minutes.
There is technology included that will allow for bluetooth and 3rd party apps to be made and used with this detector (apps are currently not ready yet, but should be soon). I haven't explored that area yet, I'm still learning about what each radar frequency represents.
I am not usually a speeder, but I have enjoyed the peace of mind knowing I'll get an advanced warning just in case I'm not perfectly on the speed limit. My one suggestion is to include more information in the manual about what each radar frequency represents, and which ones law enforcement typically uses to give you a ticket. I am learning that there are several different ones (frequencies used by different types of radar guns), but knowing a general synopsis would be so helpful.
Also, it has a super useful feature called "auto lockout". It uses the GPS to catalog false alarms from places like stores and banks (the annoying alerts). Next time I drive there, it will be silent. That feature is awesome! There is even a ticket protection program you can sign up for (for a fee) that will cover the cost if you get one.
You can plug a USB to the power plug to simultaneously charge your phone (see pic). Additionally, there is a second easy-access mute button on the power source. This radar has a lot to offer and I'm spoiled now.

Being told by my wife that I have somewhat of a lead foot, I have heavily relied on radar detectors for almost twenty years for commuting to work and leisure travel. I will say they have saved me countless times however I also have been pulled over and ticketed only a couple times over that span. I have also gone through my fair amount of radar detectors to always ensure I have the best chance of catching the fuzz using radar to clock my speed before they catch me.
The package includes what you would expect from any high-end radar detector including a carrying case, sturdy windshield suction cup style mount, and USB-C power cable which has a mute button on it in case where you mount the detector is too far to reach once installed. I could feel the quality built into the detector in comparison to other radar detectors I have owned over the years. Some of the features you’ll see in Radenso’s DS1 model that stand out from the competition is the bright, easy to see OLED screen which displays everything from the time, direction traveling and radar alerts. The speaker is loud and clear with push button adjustments and the radar alert sounds are actually quite pleasant in comparison to other manufacturers.
The new Radenso DS1 uses the latest technology to combat radar detectors including extreme long-range detection and GPS to not only notify users of radar alerts but to also minimize all those pesky false alerts. My last radar detector had long range detection and GPS however you had to manually add your own GPS location alerts for places Highway Patrol normally like to use radar. I could mark locations where you normally commute that set off false alerts but this became very frustrating after time. With Radenso’s DS1, they take care of most of this for you. Instead of having to manually add GPS locations during your normal commute to mute commercial areas that use radar for their automatic doors, the DS1 automatically recognizes these areas after passing them three times and automatically mutes them for you.
I have been very impressed so far by this radar detector, especially from a company that may not be as well-known as others that have been in the market for decades. For a small price, you can opt for Radenso’s extended two-year warranty which includes ticket protection which I chose to do and would recommend it. I would refer the Radenso’s DS1 to anyone in the market for a solid radar detector at a reasonable price considering the features that also has a customer support team in the US.

Tried the Uniden R3, good range, lacking features, in 2022 no radar detector should lack auto lock and gps.
Tried the Redline 360C, many features but main feature is the wifi and app that do not work that well, it does allow you to upgrade with the click of a button from your car (if your car had wifi, if not, you’ll have to hang out in your garage for it to finish updating from your house’s wifi). It falsed WAY too often, even after updating and tuning, I also find escort’s alert noise really annoying.
I tried the uniden R7, good range, in my experience, really similar or a bit better than the uniden R3, but with arrows, auto lock, gps, bigger screen and so on.
Then I finally landed in the Radenso ds1… what a beast. I don’t need arrows, the point of the radar detector is for you to slow down, not to know where the cop is “oh yeah there it is”, “yes… umm there it is Tim”. People talk about giving you situational awareness, I disagree, slow down and keep going with your day, and enjoy being ticket free. This radar detector has the best range I’ve seen, incredible amount of storage, the noise is customizable, the mount is 100% better with the screw than what I’ve seen, once can literally 3D print these mounts. Autolock is great, the gps is accurate for self learning repeated k bands. It uses a usb c charger instead of the traditional cable.
In summary, I did not list close to all the features it offers but do yourself a favor and choose this one, you’ll regret not doing it and going with a uniden dinosaur haha.

Used a Escort Passport 8500X50 for years and tried Uniden detectors which in my personal experiences they are every bit as good as Escort! Then tried Redenso DS1. This thing reaches over 3 miles to detect a Ka band radar. Has excellent filters to keep it from driving your bonkers if a Cadillac or Mazda is around! I've had it almost a year and it has only gave one false alert the whole time. If your looking for superior protection the DS1 will not let you down!

Radenso is bringing innovation to the otherwise antiquated space. Aside from an app or two with live updates, you still have to deal with old technology like RJ-11 and micro USB. We all know this is a traditionally slow development space, and it is refreshing to see true innovation and design upgrades. From the magnetic mount, including Bluetooth, increased memory, to the Nexus app with APIs, Radenso is pushing the envelope for us! We, the customer, win here! There is ABSOLUTELY nothing better than this all-around detector for the road warrior for this price point.
I have gone through many detectors, including the R3, R7, and 360c, to provide you with my current grasp of the current market offerings, and I was able to compare for myself. Side by side, the DS1 consistently beat out the others and, in many cases, by a looooong shot which is why I would hang the crown here for the sub $400 detectors. It's the best long-range performer on the market at the time of this review in 12/2021. This unit lacks LNAs, so I hope the following platform change could be the best radar yet. The Radenso DS1 is an excellent detector for anyone who wants to buy something once and know its quality.
The DS1 is built on the R3 platform, so you know it starts with a strong pedigree. It has GPS with auto lockouts to kill falses you pass often. The early stages of AI, but it works great. The single horn long-range detection is top tier, and it doesn't even have LNAs. New platforms are coming out with LNAs, which should increase performance, but this is ALREADY more than enough protection for the daily driver. The DS1 was better with BSM filtering on my road tests vs. R3 and R7, but there was just once that a Honda set it off, but it quickly disappeared. This does have K Knotchs, so it does an excellent job of BSM filtering and outperforms the R3 and R7 in that regard as well. Next, a quick overview of my experience with the Radenso DS1.
Best Features
+Nice big beautiful color OLED display
+Hello USB-C and BT 5.0, Bye RJ11
+GPS w/ Auto lockouts
+More memory for 16,500 Auto Lockouts, 5,000 Manual Lockouts, and 500 User Points
+Bluetooth 5.0 with app integration
+Radenso Nexus App will be updated making this radar better with time!
+Magnetic detachable mount
+Excellent range. THE LONG RANGE LEADER tested vs. R3, R7, 360c, V1gen2, and V1.
+1/4"-20 threaded mount for a wider variety of mounts and customizability.
+Stealth to radar detector detectors
Wish/Fix List
-No arrows because it is a single horn. I am asking for a bit much under $400, but that's ok - we will have it soon, I'm sure!
-Advanced Setup is involved. Using the Advanced Menu, customizability which is a strength is also a weakness. Options were often buried deep within submenus requiring lots of clicks. Use the app "Radenso Nexus" so you can avoid this, and you'll thank me later.
-Select an Authorized Vendor (or Radenso) to sell aftermarket adapter clips or provide 3D print files as an added bonus for buying! This will kill brand loyalty and make the switch easier. An instant revenue stream for your mount as well. You have a UNIVERSAL MOUNT if you can get 3D printing services :)
-Enable MRCD by default to save people who will expect protection out of the box.
Ideas and MUST DOs!
-MRCD = TURN THIS ON if you are SO LUCKY to have these in your state. I have them in my area, and it did not go off, which is REALLY bad. Neighborhood cameras were installed and not in the database of speed cameras, so this would be a bad thing to find out later.
-POWER = Create a self-powered unit by velcroing a power bank to the detector or dashboard and connecting it via any USB-C cords you already have somewhere laying around. This can free up a port/12V in your vehicle for something else.
-MOUNTS = You can use any 3rd party mounting system like GoPro or other creations utilizing the 1/4"-20 mount. This is great as it allows you to adapt the detector to your favorite mount you already have with aftermarket creations. There are 3D printer files available in forums online, which is pretty cool if you are so lucky to have one available. If you know how to work it, you can outsource the printing and ship it using the file.
-APP = Using the app "Radenso Nexus" for iOS and Android for configuration is the easiest method to save time and headache of missing something and going back using the buttons on the DS1. If you are having issues with Bluetooth connectivity and your DS1, check for updates IN APP for firmware updates. When I first started using this, I had problems staying connected on my Galaxy Z Fold 3. After using the updated app and updating the DS1 firmware, things work seamlessly when I open the app and link to Bluetooth. There is a Alert Log as well in app that I can't wait to see what it becomes. I would like to see it log GPS data with alerts to plot on a map :).
VERDICT
I RECOMMEND 100% to ANYONE who is willing to save them the cost of their first ticket (NOT INCLUDING insurance premium increases and a bad rep with your insurance company). This should be in everyone's windshield if you're in the market for radar detection. There are more expensive and newer technology platforms being developed now, but this is a tried and true platform with Radenso innovation that you will LOVE! Get one!

Radenso has really raised the bar with the DS1!! What a magnificent unit from such a forward looking company. At first, I was just excited to have a great radar detector because I like to drive fast. But I also really love tech and really have fun incorporating it into my life to see just how and where it goes and fits and all the benefits (and sometimes negatives) it brings.
There are no negatives that I found using this amazing tech. It is so customizable from color coding the band alerts to choosing the alert tone to actually choosing bands themselves. It’s sleek and I absolutely love the magnetic release. So handy. You have to seat it correctly though, there is a little notch on the front that slides into the suction cup then seats. If you don’t set it right it does not lock in. I freaked out at first but it is solid once you get the simple knack of it.
The case it comes with is sturdy and lightweight and has plenty of room for the unit and the magnetic part of the connection to the base. I wish the case would have been big enough to hold the power adapter and the suction base too. The suction cup is very well made to. It has a semi sticky surface and a second lock to really affix it to the windshield. But it comes off easy when you need it to. Nice. I have been transferring from my wife’s car and mine and it would be nice to pack it all up in a single case but the case it comes with is only for the unit. I will probably just buy another power adapter and base for her car. She, unlike me, does not like to drive fast. You can buy the base for about 30 bucks and the power cable for about 35.
I mentioned earlier about Radenso being forward looking company and what I mean is that they have adopted an open source and open API philosophy. Open source is they have opened up their code so that developers can see it and thus, in most cases, make it better! They have also allowed app developers, through open API, to talk to the DS1 so they can create new apps. It really has set the stage for some real innovation that I am excited to follow. It will depend on the developers and the support Radenso provides them…That’s all just frosting on the cake though with the DS1.
The DS1 delivers the one key thing though that ultimately makes this a winner….Early detection! See them before they see you!!! I have seen it in my research from people who have put it through the paces more scientifically but I have also experienced it driving… I will get a strong KA hit (KA is almost always Police) and be looking around for the cruiser and looking and looking and the signal gets stronger and stronger and boom finally there they are! I had a long time where I could not even see them but knew they were there! It’s really cool. It’s like having a cheat code in a video game with this DS1! There are also false alarms to be sure…like from other cars radars in their collision avoidance systems but after a few days with this little gem, I can easily get a sense (based on the strength and sound of the alert) of a real hit and not just a traffic light. Again, you can even turn off the older radar bands that LEO’s use like the X band if you want to lessen false alarms (I wouldn’t though). It’s that customizable or select out certain vehicle radar signatures. So cool. I also enjoyed the cardinal directions being displayed and my current speed is also always on the screen.
Another feature I really like it the “auto lock out" feature. If you drive past a stationary radar like a store front door or stop light 3 times it will lock that place out. That’s where the GPS feature is so nice. The more I drive the smarter it gets! Speaking of smart I wish Radenso would have their ISO app up and running but as of this writing it has not. It’s only a matter of time though before either they do or an app developer makes one of their own. I also like the high speed notification option… I hit 70 and the Radenso gives me a heads up. It's a nice reminder. Not all cops run radar and they can stop me on their speed estimation alone with no radar needed. Radenso also did a great job with the power chord as well. It has a USB port and a mute button with easy access. That was a nice touch on Radenso’s part.
Over all I could not be happier with the DS1 inside or out. It's perfect for the person that just doesn't want a ticket, to the high end techno geek that wants to tweak to the "nth" degree. Level up your driving game and get one!

Amazing range, Lots of false alarms in town, but on the highway it will sense moving Illinois State Police 3 plus miles away on freeway. So far that you start to wonder.
It will give false Ka when passing some semis. It doesn't sound on Hondas like some reviews say.

I like having the mute botton on the power brick it's easy to reach and does have to be hit frequently. K band is used so many placed, stop lights cars near you, automatic doors and if it weren't for speed sensing things I would block the band entirely, I spent the money o this unit because of the auto lock out capabilities which when it does makes the ride much more peaceful.

At this price point few detectors come close to offering the quality of detecting as well as the peace of mind the DS1 does.
You get a carrying case, cigarette plug, power cord, and mount in the packaging. You can hardwire it or use the plug, really depends on if you want to use it in multiple vehicles quickly (heck, guess you can get the wiring and hardwire multiple vehicles) or set it and forget it. I plan on keeping it simple with the included plug as we have 3 vehicles and since getting the DS1 have used it in all three with absolutely zero fuss from the mount (hence me mentioning all of this). In the past I have had various GPS mounts really suck and just be terrible. This one, though, is solid and has a very strong suction when you need it, and a nice quick release button for when you want it to pop off, very nice touch.
The unit itself has been outlined extensively by other reviews, so I will avoid being repetitive as best I can. The DS1 is simple and no-frills in appearance, which I love. Understated black, no colors or fins, or anything else to make it look gaudy or "boy racer" with a single mute button on the front facing you immediately to the left of the display (you also have a mute button down on the power plug next to the warning light so you can see it in the dark easier. This button is where I mute from, not on the detector itself.
In the few weeks of using it, I have had a single Laser detection and a few other legit pings on the K-band. A few of the KA's may have been legit but are mostly traffic light sensors. Mute them and on the next time through that area of town I noticed the DS1 remembered the false-positives and muted the reading after a tenth of a second with the display stating "auto-lockout"...very nice.
I will echo the whole time-zone thing as it is not mentioned in the manual anywhere nor did I find anything from Radenso in an official capacity discussing how to adjust it. The only thing I did find was from other users or here in the Best Buy reviews, so that was a little bit of a headscratcher that something that should be so simple was completely glossed over by the manufacturer. Having said that, everything else about the DS1 has been amazing so I won't bother holding it against them.
Awesome product and an easy recommendation.

Simple to use, gps, minimalistic, decently long range, so far nothing wrong with it. Being able to mute K bands based on your gps is handy for those speed cameras that just record speed and no picture. Works in the c8, would recommend.
