Classy , useful, and fun!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses are so much better than I expected. The quality is top shelf. But what else would you expect from Ray-Ban? The feature set is amazing though, especially for the price. They're kind of like a smart speaker/watch in that they have a built in assistant, easily accessed by saying hey Meta, then asking your question. Then a pleasant voice will respond with an answer to whatever was asked. The results are pretty spot on as well... I'm not sure what database they use for their information, but I haven't yet had any issues with spam results etc.. The sound quality of the speakers is really good also, and the volume level isn't to bad. I wouldn't expect to be able to hear them while mowing the lawn, but for most other situations the volume is plenty. The bass response is weak but acceptable. The touch features work well and are intuitive. The video quality isn't bad, but the recording time is limited to a max of 60 seconds. Also the focal length is fairly wide angle and pulled back, so not exactly cinema quality but it does record a clean and clear picture. Overall I really like my Ray-Ban Meta gasses. The only thing I'd change about mine is to some transitions lenses so I could continue to wear them indoors without looking like "That Guy"

Great for vlogging travelers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These sunglasses are awesome. I would have liked them to have more access to post to other social media platforms but seeing is how it's from Meta, it makes sense for it to be exclusive to Facebook and Instagram. The microphone quality is pretty sensitive and great for phone calls. Not so much for video recording. I could hear wind in the background while still hearing my own voice pretty clear. The sunglasses have built-in cameras you can control from the arms of the glasses. The cameras are used for taking pictures, going live, and recording video and the quality does not disappoint. It does not have the fish eye zoom that I was expecting instead it's a pretty smooth transition from my point of view. After media has been saved, it stores to a cloud storage account where you can post to Messenger or your story or feed. I don't know how much you can save or how much is stored before you have to pay for a service for more storage. When you travel, you hardly think to to pull out your phone to take pictures of the moment. These glasses solve that

Very pleasantly surprised. Check your use case.

I really wasn’t expecting that and, honestly, I was a little surprised. From the get-go, it is clear they are a pair of Ray-Bans. They have the styling, build, looks, all of it. They are probably a tad bit heavier, but if so, not by much. Save the camera lens and few minor differences, you really can’t tell. My version has the polarized green tint, but it is my understanding there are different lens options, including plain clean prescription (as well as another style). The build is fantastic and what you would expect from Ray-Ban. Solid, feel good in the hand, great hinge movement, and perhaps most importantly, at least for me, comfortable. They also included a nice, high-quality hard case. Again, what you would expect, but in this…case, it is also the charger for the sunglasses. Due to this, it does have a little more weight than you might expect. Nothing crazy, but something to note. Thankfully, it is USB-C, charges quickly, and provides “up to 36 hours of charge time per fully charged portable case.” I will comment on the battery a little later. All in all, I like the hardware here. Setup is, well, quite easy. Download an app, follow some instructions, update and you are good to go. I was a little hesitant going in, given they are Meta branded, and while I do not really use my Facebook account, I was not sure I wanted to tie that to any hardware. Thankfully, they offer another option. Further, they have a nice set of privacy options that give you a little more control. As for using the glasses themselves, again, it is all pretty simple to pick up and get used to. To be honest, I am kind of floored with all that these can do. I suppose most people will gravitate towards the camera for picture and video use. That is kind of what I thought I would be most drawn to going in as well, and while I am, I really like what they have done with audio, calls, and the assistant. The audio is, well, “good,” and I would say adequate for those that just want some music. I think it is great for someone listening to podcasts and perhaps not looking for an audiophile level experience. Beyond that, though, I found that calls were fantastic, on both ends, and a convenience I had not even thought of. I am also not a huge user of assistants, but they have their place, and I found their version quite good. A nice add. As for pictures and video? I think the video is quite good for what it is but do note that if you are not live streaming (to Meta properties of course), the video is limited to 15, 30, or 60 second clips. As for stills, I did come away somewhat impressed. While your phone will undoubtedly take superior pictures, I would say these are more than fine to share to social media, friends, and stuff like that. Add in that you can be getting some unique content that you may otherwise not even be getting, it seems a worthwhile tradeoff. Again, as a whole, I think they did a nice job here. Ultimately, I do like these glasses. My experience has mostly been very good. Battery-life has been…”good.” If you are doing heavy picture and video stuff and consistently listening to music, it does drain fairly quickly. Otherwise though, they do last fairly long. I am still trying to see the times there. Another quirk is that the camera lens is a little left leaning, so you need to keep that in mind as you snap or record. Just something to note. I have found the controls easy to use as well as responsive, although voice has been slightly touchy. That could be more of a me problem though. All of that said, however, I have found them fun (and easy) to use, the quality rather good, and I think they are a great value. When you factor the price of Ray-Bans separately, and think about all the other adds, I think it works out. I am never one to buy something on future promises, but Meta has said they will be adding some visual features to these in the coming year that will use the cameras to identify things. That seems exciting, but I guess we will have to see. Anyway, I always say check your use case, but if yours fits, these may be worth a look.

Definitely impressed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like them, great classic frame. Picture and videos were amazing! Props for them for that. These particular lenses though make your phone or any tv have a rainbow halo. My friends with different lenses don’t do that. That’s why I took a star out. It gets a little annoying.

Was ready to give these glasses a five star but...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited when I saw these glasses! I have a few friends with similar glasses, and they tell me all the things they can do with them which made me want them more! So when I first received the glasses, I was very eager to get started with them! My first impression of the case, was that it was really cool and I love the fact that you can charge your glasses while they're inside! My next step was to pair them with my Meta app and get started using them. It was pretty easy two pair them with my phone and sign in because of the previous log in information is the same as Facebook. Once I went through all the props and set everything up and was ready to go, the first thing I did was try and call my mother. I called and for some reason while I was using the glasses she mostly couldn't hear me or barely hurt me at all. I tried all kinds of things to see if I can fix the problem. Turn my phone off and turn it back on, I checked the volume on the phone and the glasses, and I even tried wiping the glasses down to see if something was blocking it that I didn't see, and nothing fix the problem. Then I thought maybe you as my mothers phone even though when I put it on speaker she heard be fine, but I wanted to check with others to see if they were having the same issue when I called. I called to other people and they both said they couldn't hear a word I said, so the next thing I wanted to find out was where the microphone was. I searched all around where they normally would put the microphone, and didn't see anything. Finally I figure it out that they put the microphone on the bridge of the nose part of the glasses. For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would think that would be a great place to put the microphone. I have a larger knows so it literally covers that whole entire area, and it's safe to assume that anyone with a larger nose is going to have the exact same problem. As far as streaming live on Facebook, the meta-help app AI, and taking pictures, everything work great, but for me, the main reason I would use it was to call and talk to friends, family and associates. So for me it's a no go.
