Just no…
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nowhere on the box or description does it mention you need to create an account on their website to even use the surround sound. Garbage company and software. Go with logitech instead.

lightweight, comfortable, versatile, convenient
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.excellent comfort. excellent sound quality and isolation. i havent gotten any complaints from others on voice calls about the microphone quality when i asked about it, so i assume it's pretty good. very intuitive to set up. it took me a few minutes to figure out how to plug the microphone in correctly and toggle it on/off, but i didnt look at the manual before trying it, so i'd say it was fairly intuitive overall. i havent run the batteries dry to determine the total battery life, but so far it lasts a full day and then some. the 2.4GHz dongle plugging it at a right angle instead of sticking straight out is appreciated, since my previous headset died from the USB plug breaking off of the dongle from being jostled too much. i greatly appreciate the versatility of being able to use the headset with 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm audio cable, since my previous headset only supported 2.4GHz and is now useless without a working dongle.

Solid choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mic does its job well for casual voice chat and in-game comms. It actually sounds quite different depending on whether I’m wired or wireless, although that could be the fault of my onboard audio. It’s much quieter and a bit thin when wireless but has a dead silent noise floor. I can boost the gain a ton and still get no noise even with a fan running. When it’s wired my voice sounds louder and more full but with some constant background noise beneath it. If you switch frequently you might have to accommodate for that in your settings. The sound of the headphones strikes me as a bit too warm. I find myself needing to turn the volume down when I listen to anything bass-heavy or it wears me out. They’re solidly “good enough” for a gaming headset though. There’s a Razer mobile app with a custom EQ you can tweak at least. It's hard to speak on build quality while it's new but there's a lot of plastic so I'd treat it with care. The buttons feel tactile and good to press. Swiveling earcups are nice but I find myself worrying about the extra moving parts it introduces at the joints. They clamp a bit tight and the manual recommends stretching it apart gently before wearing it to reduce stress on the headband, but it’s not an exercise that inspires confidence. I do appreciate the detachable mic though. As far as general usability goes the range is great, latency is low, and the battery life is amazing. It worked for me on Linux (Mint) out of the box, but if I leave the dongle plugged in while I boot Pulse doesn’t seem to bother to make my audio jacks usable for whatever reason. Also the 7.1 surround sound stuff is a Windows-only exe if you care about that. Other than that I tend to get stuck in bluetooth mode when I try to do stuff with the app on my phone, and can’t switch back to my PC until I turn bluetooth off on my phone to force a disconnect. Overall I’d say it gets the important stuff right but with a lot of minor nitpicks and quirks to deal with. It’s my first wireless headset and more than anything else the freedom that it provides has been great. At this price I just wish they could tighten up all the small details a little better.

Razer Barracuda X Headset Review - Affordable Exc
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Barracuda X headset enters the market as a slightly more premium option, offering an enticing blend of features at an accessible price point. Combining Razer's renowned build quality and audio performance, the Barracuda X aims to carve a niche in the mid-tier gaming headset market. In this review, we'll explore its design, audio capabilities, comfort, and the trade-offs it brings, including its limited noise cancellation, to help you determine if it's the right fit for you. Audio Quality: Razer is known for producing headsets that prioritize audio quality, and the Barracuda X doesn't disappoint. With impressive soundstage and clarity, this headset elevates your gaming experience by allowing you to pinpoint enemy footsteps and immerse yourself in the virtual world. The audio profile caters to both gaming and multimedia consumption, delivering solid bass and balanced highs. Whether you're engaging in intense battles or enjoying your favorite tunes, the Barracuda X provides a noteworthy auditory experience that surpasses the baseline. Comfort and Design: The Barracuda X maintains Razer's commitment to ergonomic designs, ensuring hours of comfort during extended gaming sessions. The memory foam padding on the ear cups and headband, along with the lightweight construction, contribute to an enjoyable wear experience. The design is sleek and minimalist, with the Razer logo adding a touch of gaming aesthetics. The detachable microphone further emphasizes the headset's versatility, allowing you to transition between gaming and daily tasks effortlessly. Value Proposition: One of the key selling points of the Barracuda X is its value proposition. While priced slightly above typical budget headsets, the additional investment pays off with enhanced audio quality and overall build. Razer's attention to detail and commitment to durability are evident, making this headset a compelling option for those seeking a step up from entry-level models without delving into the high-end range. Noise Cancellation Consideration: One area where the Barracuda X falls a bit short is noise cancellation. While it offers a reasonable level of passive noise isolation thanks to its snug fit and padded ear cups, the active noise cancellation is notably limited compared to some pricier competitors. This means that ambient sounds, especially in louder environments, might seep through to your listening experience. However, if you're primarily using the headset in a quieter setting, this might not pose a significant issue. Recommendation: In conclusion, the Razer Barracuda X headset strikes an appealing balance between affordability and performance. Its remarkable audio quality, ergonomic design, and overall build make it a strong contender in its price range. While the noise cancellation might not be its standout feature, the Barracuda X compensates with its other strengths. If you're willing to trade off some noise isolation for exceptional audio and comfort, the Barracuda X comes highly recommended as a versatile and budget-friendly gaming headset.

great value for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the headset is very comfortable to wear, wraps well around your ears and head, sound quality is good in both low and very high volumes, microphone produces a decent and pleasent-to-listen-to capturing of your voice while filtering out background noise. Works really well on linux (PopOS 22.04) in both wired and wireless modes. I use exclusively on wired mode and found out it does not consume any battery this way

Great Gaming Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound and versatile connection method. Worked right out of the box without installing any software. I had one issue where the dongle would not be recognized sometimes on Win10. I switched to a different USB port and it has worked flawlessly ever since.
