Great wired headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Blackshark V2 is a great wired headset for multiple platforms. I have used other Razer products in the past with my PC but this was my first time using a Razer product on my PS4. I am coming to see Razer as a leader in accessories in both spaces now. There are 2 ways that the headset plugs in, either directly into a 3.5mm jack or via a USB dongle that also serves as a sound card. I tried it first on my PS4 Pro. I connected the USB dongle into the console and then connected the headset to the dongle. I was a little disappointed because the sound quality was not great at that point, and other people had trouble hearing me. So I disconnected the USB dongle from the console and plugged the headset into the 3.5mm jack on the DualShock 4 controller. The headset worked much better. I experienced great sound quality and nobody had issues with hearing me on the mic. Since it is a wired headset, being plugges into the controller works better anyway by giving me better cord range than being plugged into the console. This headset is very comfortable, even after long sessions. I wear glasses and I never felt pinched around my ears or the stems of my glasses. The headset feels very durable, and expands for larger head sizes via a sturdy metal rod system that extends from the headband. It is a unique looking system and gives the impression that it could handle being extended and pushed back in countless times without any wear. The mic boom is very adjustable and never feels in the way. I also tried it on my PC via the USB dongle/sound card. It worked flawlessly. I have a Razer keyboard so I had the Razer Synapse app already operating, and it was simple to add the Blackshark V2 into it. A quick change of my sound settings to make it my default mic input and sound output, and then right into some games and music. I'm not an audiophile, but this headset sounds great no matter what I am doing. Overall, if you are in the market for a wired headset that has good audio quality, good mic quality, that is comfortable and durable, with the added bonus of working easily on multiple platforms, I would highly recommend the Razer Blackshark V2.

Lightweight, comfy and sound great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like these headphones. First off they are well designed from a comfort perspective. The foam that cushions the ear cups is closer to memory foam that what I usually experience with headphones. It is very soft and somewhat breathable. It has been very hot recently here and I don’t have A/C in my house. So it was a bit of pleasant surprise that I was able to listen to the head phones without feeling too over heated. The wire that connects the headphones is soft and light. I also like that the mic is detachable or easily muted. Last but not least, you can attach these with a traditional audio pin jack or a USB slot. Ok, enough of that stuff…how do they sound? They sound great. I’ve been listening to a lot of “3D” and “spatial” audio the last couple days and really enjoying it. The sounds are crisp and clean with a fairly strong base response. I have also been playing around in several different PC games just to see if they sound any better with my new headphones, and boy o boy do they! It really is remarkable how well I can tell if a sound is directly behind me versus say a sound that is behind me and to the right. The spatial audio and its ability to place sounds in a certain area in the game is fantastic. And as far as listening to music they are solid as well. Got sent down a Pink Floyd rabbit hole for a relaxing couple of hours last night and loved every minute of it. All in all I love these headphones. When you combine a high quality passive noise cancellation ability with all the other features I’ve mentioned these headphones can really take you away to your own little gaming or musical world. Oh and I would like to add that the mic is great. I don’t use a mic often in gaming but Ive used it for a couple phone calls so far and my call cohorts say it’s clear and crisp sounding as well. I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

Good for voice chat
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost the Razer Blackshark V2 has a "no nonsense" look and design, kind of like a helicopter pilot...but you're here to play games and communicate with your teammates, you're not trying to win a beauty contest. That being said, this is one of the most comfortable headsets that I have used. It is very light and does not put extended pressure on the head, which I was very pleased with. You can game to your heart's content without feeling discomfort that some headsets provide. The detachable mic provides crisp clear audio to your teammates, but with discord it came across as a bit quiet. Ican't really complain here, just need to adjust some settings and you're good to go. I would have preferred they used the retractable mic like in the kraken series, or a fold up boom. The downside to this headset is the audio quality. Having used it with and without the usb sound card, it just falls flat. There is no amount of adjusting sliders in the razer software to make the audio full and rich. The bass is too quiet and the treble is too soft for me, which having 50mm drivers it should be able to deliver a deep bass. I'd say it is decent for gaming audio, and really good for voice chat, but for music and videos it was horrible. I kept having a wierd audio fluctuation between speakers and increasing and decreasing volume. I don't know if that's due to the THX spatial sound or what, but I would definitely stick to just gaming with these. And at the $100 price point I would recommend the Logitech G Pro headset or spend a little more and get the Razer Kraken Ultimate.

Lightweight and Powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blackshark V2's blew me away when I put them on for the first time. I have owned multiple types of gaming headsets and music/studio headsets across the price spectrum. Comfort: They are super light. These are wicked comfortable as soon as you put them on you feel the difference, and sometimes barely feel them. The mesh is very breathable and soft. Sound: These things are loud! Whether its with the PS4 controller or the PC on the USB Sound Card. These things give a mean punch. They are very detailed with sounds and awesome sound reproduction. The THX Spatial Audio is awesome, and you can customize the surround angles to your liking in the App. You do need a PC and be using the USB in order to use the THX Spatial Audio. The passive noise canceling is really good on these as well to help with the immersion. The app also allows for EQ as well. The Music Preset while playing music is awesome and very enjoyable. The microphone is pretty good and there are alot of adjustments with noise filtering/gates in the app as well. Design: I really like the overall look of these headphones they are very minimalist and functional. The only real issue I have is I dont like how the slider for adjustment is made since it likes to grab on one side sometimes. Also Im very afraid of the single thin green cable that connects the ear ups durability. These are very solid in every aspect making the perfect choice for your gaming session.

Awesome Gaming Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a novice gamer, I found these headphones to be quite comfy with extremely good sound. This is something I got so I would be able to play Fortnite with my kids. So we have several pairs Razer headphones (some lower end one because I have kids and we can't have nice things and an slightly older, nice pair). What I liked about there was that the earcups are well padded and have a noise-canceling effect. This is a positive and a negative - I enjoy blocking my kids while playing video games, however when my daughter put them on, she couldn't hear herself talking and was extremely loud. For the little bit that I used the for communicating with my kids over Fortnite, I found them to be very clear and crisp. There is a volume knob on the side so I was able to adjust the level of their voices as they came through. I will say, and I've seen other reviews mention this, that there is no feedback on the mic - like I didn't know if my kids could hear me at first because I couldn't hear myself and didn't think I was connected. I know that these headphones have a lot of other cool features that more advanced gamers would appreciate, but when it comes down to bare bones, I liked how they fit and the sound was crisp. This is usually my main concern with any set of headphones I get and made playing video games just a bit more fun.

Amazing, but a few things..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now don't get me wrong, these are probably one of Razers best headphones. The sound quality is perfect for gaming, and the sound is very crisp and clear. However, I've had mine for almost 2 weeks and I've started to hear a static noise in the background. It becomes especially noticeable when I'm listening to music. This may just be a defect in mine, but I will be returning. If there's one thing that made these headphones stand out, it's how comfortable they are. The soft padding around the ears and headband are incredibly cushy, so long sessions are more bearable. This is coming from someone who previously used the Logitech G Pro X, which is much heavier compared to these. If you're thinking of getting these, I would suggest trying out the cheaper version first, the Blackshark V2 X. The two are so similar to the point where I don't think the V2's are worth the extra $40. Though if you're really serious about precision and the spatial audio that comes along with the V2's, then the extra cost may be worth it for you.

New favorite headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to exclusively go for true wireless headsets but this headset has me considering wired headsets moving forth. This headset is very comfortable and I have been able to wear it for hours without issue. The construction includes some metal components which I appreciate. This should translate to long-term durability but time will tell. The cord is long and has an attached rubber tie that can be used to shorten the cord or for compact storage. The cord is braided which is a nice touch as well. This headset has one volume knob and you can feel it click at its halfway point. The headset has large 50 mm drivers and delivers nice, clear sound. I have used the headset on both my Xbox One, plugged into the controller, and also listening to music plugged into my phone. The mic is detachable and flexible for optimum positioning. The mic can easily be muted by a button next to the volume knob. Several people I have spoken to through the mic have noticed the increased clarity over my previous headset. I also thought the packaging was nice. Included in the box are a headset pouch, warranty card, directions, and Razer stickers. Overall, I am very happy with this headset so far.
