The max volume is not great. Overall a little underwhelming but they do come highly recommended, which makes me believe that it doesn't get much better for the money.

Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Headset

From what I recall, the old headset was really "boomy". I didn't notice the "boomy sound" on this new headset, it fact, it sounded pretty good. My son thinks it's a big improvement. He notices more subtle sounds in his game and can keep the volume lower as a result.

It's been used only 24 hours (not continuously!), and he loves it. On Call of Duty, he can "hear the footsteps better".
