Won’t charge/hold charge
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had them for 2 weeks, then the headset wouldn’t charge. Tried all types of bricks and even my computer. The green light would blink, indicating it’s charging, but after an hour or more of leaving it charging, it still shows low/no battery, and the headset wouldn’t connect or allow you to use it while plugged in.

Headphones with Force Feedback
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.INTRODUCTION This is the 3rd generation of Razer’s Kracken series of headphones and they pulled out all stops when bringing this set to market. Nearly any feature you can think of for a set of gaming headphones, including some you may not have (haptic feedback) have been included. The only notable exception, and a bit of a mystery is, Active Noise Cancellation. Hmmmm. USE The new Razer Krackens can be hooked up to your PC via 1 of 2 methods: USB or via the included Hyperspeed dongle. The Hyperspeed dongle provides a high speed data connection between your PC and the headphones. The Hyperspeed link is much faster and transport much more data than an ordinary Bluetooth connection. The link has been seamless and transparent to me so far. I have experienced no drop outs or static and the speed at which the two (dongle and headphones) talk to each other seems to have eliminated any noticeable lag between the speech on the monitor and what the user hears. A poor connection where the image gets out of sync with the sound is a completely ruins the experience for me. I wish all wireless headphone connections could be as refined and reliable as the Krackens. Razer claims up to 44hrs of playtime with no lighting or haptic feedback and only 11hrs of playtime with both lighting and haptic feedback enabled. Not great, but not horrible either. The new Krackens sport 50mm titanium drivers that are capable of reproducing the entire audible range of human hearing, 20Hz – 20kHz. Big 50mm drivers in the ear cups help to reproduce the lower octave of bass frequencies and add a depth to the headphones that many competitors’ products can’t match. Add to that, the Krackens also support THX 7.1 channel spatial audio. This is a form of psycho acoustic tech that allows 2 stereo drivers to virtually reproduce 7 channels of surround sound. While the believability of the surround sound greatly depends upon the source material, if it is done correctly, it is enveloping and adds a level of immersion ordinary stereo headphones cannot reproduce. As an added bonus, Razer includes this as part of their software, at no additional charge. The real reason for purchasing these headphones though is for the haptic feedback brought to you by Razer’s “Hypersense” technology. The spatial audio and DSP processing work cohesively with your gameplay, music, movies, etc. and applies what amounts to varying levels of vibration to your headset. Simplistically put, think of it as taking the rumble from your PS5 or XBOX controller and putting it in the headphones. Getting shot in a game, running off road during a street race, helicopters buzzing overhead, all get fed through the haptic feedback drivers. It’s pretty cool, similar to Bass Shakers, but in your headphones. The haptic feedback can be quite aggressive and can be downright tiring after a while. Thankfully, Razer includes a simple button to adjust the amount of feedback you want: Low, Med, High, Off. Razer wisely put the ability to control this function with a simple button on the bottom of the ear cup. NEGATIVES I still, to this day, despise the Synapse 3 software. It is unnecessarily resources intensive, but is a necessary evil, if you wish to fully customize and unlock the features of the headphones. The mic is merely average. My friends knew right away something was different compared to me using my old headphones. They thought I sounded softer and not as clear. I have tried to remedy most of these shortcomings through the Synapse software, but have only been semi-successful to this point. To be fair to Razer, I may just need to sit down and do some additional tweaking. But, one thing I really dislike is that the way the user controls the mic. The mic plugs in via a standard 3.5mm jack, but it doesn’t rotate to turn on and off. All my Logitech headphones and even my JBL Quantum X headphones turn the mic off by rotating it up and out of the way. With the Krackens, the user must push the mic mute button located beside the microphone connector on the ear cup. It works, but it is not nearly as intuitive as just flipping the mic up to shut it off. RGB overload. Razer loves putting RGB on stuff. I can’t think of anything they don’t put RGB on. Heck, they even put it on their Zephyr mask. While I won’t knock Razer for putting it on the Krackens, I do think it is unnecessary. Who can really see their headphones while they are being worn? It only draws precious battery power that can be used to increase playback life and/or power the haptic feedback. The reason I won’t knock Razer for it, is because you can easily turn the RGB lighting off in the Synapse software. CONCLUSIONS Haptic feedback takes the Razer Kracken V3 Pro headphones to another level. It can be a lot of fun playing games and watching movies with the feedback. It adds another dimension of immersion and realism. The 50mm titanium drivers sound great and the cushions do a good job at keeping the headphones from getting too hot on your ears while isolating the user from the world around them. There are 3 things I knock the Razer Krackens for: 1. A mediocre sounding microphone 2. The poor design (in my opinion) of turning the mic on and off. 3. Lack of Active Noise Cancellation. I would like to be able to only take one set of headphones with me while traveling, but without ANC, I can't see using these on a plane. These should be on any gamer’s list that is in the market for a good sounding, well-built, quality set of gaming headphones. While they are not perfect, none are, they are good at what they do and Razer included some technology that I really didn’t even think I needed or wanted, until I had it. Recommended.

Not impressed for the money
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For as much as I spent on these headphones the volume button on them has all but stopped working. If I don’t have it all the way up I can just hear. However, if I accidentally touch the volume dial while putting them on or taking them off it pretty much goes silent until I turn the dial all the way up again.
