    Amazing daily driver!

I bought this phone in early April 2019. It is now mid October 2019. With about half a year of experience with this phone, it has proven to be very capable with whatever I throw at it. From light apps like Instagram, to the heaviest games like PUBG, which are meant for the newer chips such as the Snapdragon 855 and the Apple A13. It can, however, be a little fragile. I used it for the first month naked, and just with daily use, both glass panels started getting minor scratches, even though I took very good care of it. They are not very noticeable though. Still, it is a great idea to buy at least a screen protector before you buy the actual phone. It is still perfect for daily use, it hasn't failed me once, and I even get compliments at school for having such a cool phone, even though half the kids there don't know what it is. What really stands out are the phenomenal speakers, the 120hz refresh rate (or FPS ( frames per second)), good water resistance, and Razer chroma lighting

This phone is far the best phone out there the video quality is amazing. It's got a 120 Hertz refresh rate and the speakers are insane . Litteraly my gf has to tell me to turn it down because its louder than her iPhone x lol. It's boxy design gets to you the more you use it the more comfortable it feels in the hands. For 4 Benjamin's it's almost a steal. And I hope they raise the price back to 800 it just makes the phones value go up and more respectful

I love this phone! What I like: Android has zero bloat and bootloader can be unlocked, they speakers are excellent not just for music but for calls as well. The calls come across much more clear on both ends than my HTC10, Super fast for daily apps rivalling those that are $400-$500 more. The camera is decent for daily pics and easy to figure out. If I want something spectacular I would get an actual camera. The USB C out sounds very good. I was able to drive my UE 900s IEMs with relative ease ( I did end up getting the Hammerhead USB-C ANC IEMS which are pretty good btw). I have Verizon and it was pretty simple to setup at home but I was not able to receive text messages, at quick trip to the Verizon store remedied that in seconds. The calls are really good with no drops. The 2 negatives are lack of headphone jack (but livable) and screen is still a tad dim but you get used to it, just dont sit it next to a Note 9 (again no a biggy). If you can not justify spending an extra on a Galaxy Note or Iphone get this for sure! Accessories are not easy to find and some have yet to launch. I wish best buy carried some but it seems all they cater to is Samsung and Iphone.

    Doesn't Mess Around

As stated in the summary, this phone doesn't play around. 4ghz processor in a phone, screen the size of a Switch screen, colors that pop, the crazy good sharpness of the 120hz display. All of that AND huge speakers on the top and bottom of the phone, Razer chroma lighting, and it runs anything you can think of installing on this bad boy? Seriously, this isn't just a phone for gamers. This is a phone for anyone with a powerful mobile lifestyle and needs a seriously great phone. I have Razer for all of my computer peripherals and am glad I can dive even further into the brand with this amazing phone. Also, cool themes you can download for text tones, etc.

This phone has a gorgeous screen the 120hz makes a huge difference in clarity. I’d say more crisp than Apple easily, the speakers are also the strong point of this phone. You do not need a spare Bluetooth speaker when owning the Razer puts the iPhone to shame in terms or sound quality and strength. The only part of the phone I have an issue with the camera really stuck in 2015 but other than that worth the buy and funny looks when people notice your phone has an led indicator that can have varying functions.

Every smart phone out there today does well at receiving/making calls and texts. Taking pictures, running apps, etc. My past two phones were the S5 and S8+ and I honestly couldn't tell you if there was a difference between the two in any of the above mentioned applications. So when I was looking for a new phone, I wanted something that I could game on. The hardware of this phone speaks for itself, it's amazing. Nice clear speakers, mind blowing display and cheaper then the S9+ (which is what I was comparing this to when I was looking at getting a new phone). I am using this on Verizon and I did have some issues receiving text messages, this is a Verizon issue and they need to fix it on their end. First time I contacted their support I got transferred around and was told it would take a few days. After a few days I called back in, spoke with a different tech and they had it fixed within minutes. So it's all about who you get on the other end of the phone.

So operation from screen to screen and app to app is smooth, the sound with Dolby atmos from just the phone with compatible videos or tracks,, great! The design and software as well as some firmware is buggy n combersum but pure android. I love the no bloat ware for sure,,thank you! The phone without a case takes getting use to. Square edges and a brick design, its definitely not for the streamlined pocket user. Then u add a case and the brick design is noticable for sure. If I was just using this for gaming and not business or everyday in and out of pocket use, it would be a great option. I didn't like holding it to my face, it feels like holding a picture frame. Keep trying RAZOR,,,, you almost have it! Also wireless charging Needs work! Smooth the edges, move wireless charging coil up 1 inch and add a headphone jack a must. Finding and keeping track of a small type c to headphone jack in everyday life gets old.

The build quality is great, doesn't feel cheap or have any loose buttons, not to mention the sound is very crisp and loud. The 4,000 mAh battery lasts me almost the whole day with medium usage and charges from 0% to 100% in about 30 minutes! As this is a phone built for games and entertainment, it's not your typical everyday use flagship phone. With the blocky design it can be slightly difficult to keep in your pocket and the 12mp camera certainly is not the best but can still take decent photos.

    Almost Perfect

I've had this phone for a month. Heres my review. This phone has a lot. It has incredible hardware for it's price, and everything is customizable. After you change your wallpaper and theme from the cringey gamer theme it comes with, it's really sleek and looks elegant as heck. You can raise your screens refresh rate to 120hz while you're watching a movie or playing a game, or you can lower it all the way down to 40hz to save battery life and prevent the phone from getting hot. Most phones are just stuck at 60hz. I would highly recommend watching jerryrigeverything's teardown of the phone on YouTube, to really get a better appreciation of how well put together it is. One bad thing is that while the speakers are amazing and putting them in the front was a probably a good choice, it does mean that they collect dust really easily and the only good way to remove it is with keyboard putty. Also the unlock button is in the dead center of the phone so sometimes I have it backwards and upside down and it feels right but I have to flip it. That's just me being dumb, but something to maybe consider if you open your phone without looking a lot.

So I've had the phone for a little over 6 months and I can tell you that it's the most reliable phone I've had and it's also unique. Some of my favorite features are the 120hz display and the sound quality. I can tell you if you get this phone you will not regret it everything about this phone just works.

I was blown away with the camera quality on the phone. The phone's battery can last a long time even when being on it all day. When it does get low on battery it recharges quickly with the charger provided. The sound quality of the Dolby Atmos speakers are amazing and it really sounds like surround sound.

    Microphone problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The phone mic stops working randomly. I can hear them, they can't hear me. Rebooting doesn't help. Speakers sounds blown out even with the Dolby app turned off. You can't move data from the HDD to the SD card. Neither Best Buy nor Verizon could get it to work. One app at a time can be moved if it's allowed by the phone but can't move pictures and video. This phone is unlocked and there's no wifi calling with Verizon that way. If I'd bought from Verizon it might have worked but I haven't got a straight answer on that. The LTE icon doesn't show 4G, it shows LTE+ which is weird. I have to reboot this phone every few days at most because the odd glitches keep coming up. It also isn't updating the Android 9 pie like my pixel 3 was, probably because I have to wait for Razer to do it and I have no idea how often they do that. I think the operating system is the biggest problem other than the phone mic. I don't play games at all, I'm not a gamer, I thought this was a Motorola Razr of some kind, my mistake. That logo on the back is kind of cool though. The camera is functional but not great. Same with video, not great. I like the 8MB of memory, it keeps multiple apps open at once which is handy. The processor is fast for everyday use, no complaints. There's a few bugs that need to be worked out, this seems like it should be an excellent phone. I haven't contacted Best Buy or Razer yet, haven't had time. I don't want to give up on it but I think I'm going back to my pixel 3. This phone isn't ready for prime time. Yet.

    Big Disappointment

I was so excited when I first purchased this phone. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment. The Razer 2 has a gorgeous screen and impressive speakers. With 8GB of RAM, it can easily handle multi-tasking and heavy CPU demanding games. Unfortunately the Razer is completely handicapped by buggy software. Within the first week of my purchase, my phone would show an error message, “System UI Has Stopped.” It would then proceed to freeze, reboot or completely shutdown. I’m glad all of these mishaps occurred within the return window or first fourteen days. Nevertheless, it makes me angry that I still had to pay a restocking fee for a lemon.

    Great Handset, But Dealbreaker

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The main reason why I purchased this phone is because I wanted a widescreen flagship phone - and the Razer Phone 2 phone fit the bill. The battery on my old phone was old and weak, plus the OS on it will no longer be supported. Great: Most importantly it has a wide screen. Quality speakers, best I've ever heard in a smartphone. Nice voice quality in calls. Blazing fast display response time. Rugged build quality. Fingerprint reader functions flawlessly. Fast and reliable Bluetooth connectivity. Strong WiFi connection and fast WiFi speeds. Camera works fine and images of stills and videos are perfect for my taste. Although it would have been nice to have a dedicated camera button. Good: Screen brightness is fine but I wouldn't complain if it were a little brighter than what it is at max settings. LED display imaging is crisp, but the quality isn't as good as AMOLED or OLED. But to be fair to Razer, a 120Hz response time for OLED displays is unheard of in smartphones, and if it were devloped, the price for the phone would be astronomical. Bad: Cellular data connectivity. Voice and text work as expected, but the antenna isn't getting enough signal to push streaming data through the OS without stutters and pops. My guess is that this phone is so thick that the signal is being somewhat insulated and weakened due to the amount of materials that the phone is made out of. The antenna's power should have been amped up to get a stronger signal, but then this would cause the battery to lose charge more quickly. All of that said, this only happens in games and video streams that require a lot of data at once. For voice only podcasts, there are no issues even with a weak signal. Other thoughts: I think that overall Razer did an awesome job. This is only their second phone version, but flagship phones are going to be critiqued more than throwaway phones are. If Razer decides to continue in the phone business and make another version (which I heard that they are not), hopefully they'll address and develop a flagship handset without the kind of design flaws that users just can't ignore. As for myself, I can't ignore antenna issues as much as I'd like to with such a nice phone.
