Posted .Hiker, we’re sorry to hear about your experience—this type of issue is usually related to setup and environment rather than the antenna itself. For best results, the antenna should be placed high up, near or in a window, facing the direction of local broadcast towers, with the cable fully uncoiled, and a full channel scan (“Auto Program”) must be performed each time it’s repositioned. Indoor reception can be reduced by building materials like metal siding, Low-E windows, foil insulation, plaster with metal mesh, as well as nearby obstructions such as trees, buildings, electronics, and even room-to-room placement differences . Also note the antenna is a passive device—it simply receives signal—so features like the channel guide are generated entirely by your TV’s tuner and software, not the antenna itself.

RCA HDTV Inside Antenna

It's not bulky, and it's hardly noticable setting behind the TV.
